I am nineteen and I am taking YAZ; however, I am seeing my doctor to stop taking this pill because I have recently become aware that it is associated with a greater risk of fatal blood clots, strokes and heart attacks - even in girls as young as sixteen. I know everybody reacts differently to the pill but, in my opinion the number of global deaths in women who have taken this pill is just too great to justify. I have been taking YAZ for just over a year and I went on it to help with my skin. My skin wasn't terrible, it was very mild pimples but because they were so persistent, I saw my doctor and she suggested the pill YAZ. I wish I had known it's risks sooner. As a result of taking this pill, I have been feeling symptoms associated with potential blood clots such as cramping in...

Can Dormonoct have an effect on the effectiveness of yaz? ## Hello, Suzanne! How are you? No, Dormonoct contains the active ingredient Loprazolam, which is a benzodiazepine that's used to treat anxiety and nervous disorders and it will not affect your contraceptive. It does, however, carry the risk of being habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and irritability. Is there anything else I can help with?

So last year I was on yaz and after about 3 months, I started having cramps and gas and always felt like my stomach wasnt settled. My mom thought I was lactose intolerant but when I stopped my pills over summer, my stomach was back to normal. Now I am on yaz again and after 2 months the same thing is happening with my stomach. Has anyone else experienced this with yaz? Should I be worried. I think I am going to ask my doctor to switch. ## Hello, Marz! How are you? Has there been any change? Those can be side effects of oral contraceptives, according to the NIH. You may also experience headache, PMS-like symptoms, and spotting. Speaking to your doctor about switching to a different one is most likely a good idea. With many medications, it is a matter of trial and error to find one that w...

She has costo type attacks several time per night, several days per week. She is depressed, (who wouldn't be) and has problems with her stamina. She is unable to do the things she used to enjoy. I need help finding treatments for the aftermath of Yaz. ## im really sorry im praying for her ## Google yasmin survivors forum. She might be able to find help there. There are many people who have suffered as a result of this bc. She is not alone.

I started taking birth control this month. My dog got hold of my pill pack and now 2 of my active pills are somewhere in the garden. Should I extend the placebo period for 2 more days so 7 days instead of 5. Or take a new pack right a way and have no placebo period till the next pack is finished ?

I have been taking Yaz for less then a week so I am still getting to know the basics about the pill. I just had a couple glasses of wine and I questioned myself the effectiveness... Now to be honest I am NOT taking Yaz for it's birth control purpose. Doctor prescribed it for Hormonal issues, to be specific HIRUTISM & ACNE. Also Doc said it's OK I can have a couple of drinks with Yaz but I was just wondering if it will continue helping me with my issues, not as a contraceptive per se. I do like my wine I admit. A glass or two most 'normal' days. Sometimes 5/6 glasses at occasions like weddings etc. So my question is will Yaz continue reducing the hairs if I drink? thanks in advance. ## Yes, alcohol is not known to alter its efficacy, as reported by the U.S. FDA. I believe my wife using Yasmin is what caused her blood clot and eventually her death. Bayer use to imply Yasmin and Yaz were safer then all the other contraceptives. Now Bayer is saying Yasmin and Yaz are just as safe and the number of Adverse Events is no more or less then other contraceptives. I am so sorry for those who have lost a love one or suffered through the pain some of the Adverse Events might have caused them. I don’t think I have the right or the knowledge to stop anyone from taking any drug that’s been approved by the FDA but I think doctors should take more responsibility about informing their patients of the benefits and risks and what other options they might have to taking this one drug. They also need to inform them of what they ...

I was reading the comments on Lo Loestrin Fe birth control pills and the side effects seem similar to mines. Some periods were short and some periods were longer (from 2 days to 5 days) and on other periods, I missed one in between. In my head, I thought these pills don't work as well as the other pills offered with other gynocologists. I actually stopped taking the pills because I was afraid the pills might mess my hornomanl system up. Hope there is some people who can easily say that there is birth control with advising to notice (diet changes and condoms). ## All oral contraceptives, as well as the shots and Mirena IUD are hormonal based and can mess up your natural hormonal balance. That is just what happens, when you add synthetic hormones to your body and unfortunately, even d...

My teen daughter is on Yaz for hormonal acne. This is her 6th month & her face is the worse it has ever been! She is getting cyst on forehead & along sides of face. Does Tri-Sprintec have a higher dosage of estrogen than Yaz? Also, she is having mood swings like crazy! Help this mom who wants to help alleviate her moods & clear her face acne!! ## Hello, Susan! How is she doing? I'm very sorry about the problems your daughter is having. Actually, hormonal acne is usually caused by estrogen, so it likely wouldn't be a good idea to give her a pill with a higher amount of it. Have you consulted her doctor, yet? She may need to try a different one.

found out a couple of years ago my hormones were out of whack - testosterone running high, estrogen low. doc put me on yaz, which has been a godsend (other bcps made me retain water, made my blood pressure shoot up to almost 170, and gave me horrendous mood swings) - my pmdd has cleared up (no more having to take zoloft), my skin and hair are so much more healthy and feminine, and i'm finally able to gain weight where i need it (boobs and butt); before yaz, i had no problem losing weight, but was skinny like a boy. on yaz, i went from a size 5 to a size 11 being a little too snug. due to excessive walking and dieting, i am now down to a size 4/6 as far as my waist is concerned; however, my boobs have NOT decreased from a D cup (meaning medium tops balloon at my waist, small tops are...

I want to know the best one for acne and for regulating my period. Would you all recommend Yaz or Trigestrel? ## I have no Idea, but im here for the suggestions.. So apperently i have to make this more detailed but as I had said before that I too am here to see all the replies from all of yall that do have a clue. ## Hello Oby, According to the NIH both of these contraceptives are designed to prevent pregnancies but due to the nature of the medication and their effectiveness at balancing hormones they are also effective at treating acne. Below is a link to where the NIH discusses this in further detail. [1] NIH pubmedhealth Since both medications are going to be effective at helping you with your concerns you should really only worry about which of these two medications better works wit...

Ive been on Yaz for two years and hae suffered some awful side effects, heres a link that helped me out alot and gave me some great info: "(December 8, 2011) The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will ask outside experts on Thursday about Yaz and several other birth control pills that contain a man-made hormone called drospirenone, which was heavily marketed as carrying fewer side effects than the earlier drugs. But over the last two years, several large, independent studies suggest the rate of blood clots with drugs with the hormone is slightly higher than with other drugs. Most recent analysis by the FDA looked at medical records of 800,000 US women and found that the risk of a blood clot with drospirenone-containing pills was higher than other hormone-based contraceptives. The o...

I was prescribed Yaz because of my hormonal imbalance and skin problems. At first I would take breaks every 3 months or so, and that seemed to work. However a new doc told me it was better to stay on the pill as long as i need it without breaks, so I did just that. After about 6 months, my skin started to gradually become worse and worse, and i would start to break out regularly again, and now that i'm a year in, i get pustules and painful cystic acne every week. This never used to happen before I took the pill at all. Does my body build tolerance to the pill's positive effect on my skin? Everywhere I go it seems to say that there's no benefit in taking breaks, yet while I did, my skin was at its best, and now that I went a year straight, my skin is worse than what its ever ...

Hi. I have been using yaz for about 7 months but switched to oralcon. I am currently at my second red pill of the month but I haven't started my cycle yet. I do have extreme cramps, breast tenderness and tiredness but there is no signs of my cycle. I have taken it religiously, and have used extra protection during intimacy with my husband, however we are not ready for children and now we are worried that there might be a chance of pregnancy. ## Irregular cycles can be a normal side effect of oral contraceptives, according to NIH studies, some women even stop having periods entirely, while taking them. Other side effects may include nausea, headache, mood changes, and weight changes. However, the only way to really be sure is by checking for pregnancy. Are you on any other medication...

I was on 10mg of Nuzak a day for about two years. I was also on Yaz. I stopped using both similtaneously. I did read up on symptoms that occur so I was prepared for it but I'm beginning to wonder how long they last for? The most annoying is the "brain-shocks". I've been off both medications now for about 3 weeks, but this week the "brainshocks" have actually become more frequent?! I don't feel myself at all. I have this general feeling of being unwell and tired. When is it going to stop? ## The 'brainshocks' are most likely from stopping the Nuzak, since it contains Fluoxetine, which is an SSRI antidepressant. Learn more Nuzak details here. And though the withdrawal effects tend to gradually taper off, it may take over a month for you to really start ...

Hi all - I just started taking Sprintec, I had previously been on YAZ but when the generic brand came out Kaiser made me switch to that, had tons of weight gain and moodiness so I switched to Sprintec. When I was on YAZ I was able to skip my period...basically I would just not take the "sugar" pills and go straight to the next pack of birth control. I was wondering if anyone else has done this with Sprintec and if their doctors recommended it or not. Any feedback would be helpful. Thanks! ## Have you consulted your doctor? You should check with them, in most cases, unless there are certain medical reasons, it isn't necessary to have your period more than a few times a year. I am not, however, familiar with this pill, so I am not sure what tablets you'd skip to enable you...
