I took Xyzal for 3 days a couple of years ago and it took the energy and endurance out of my body and legs. I also had a pounding sound in my ears. ## My doc said it couldn't have been the Zyzal that caused the muscle fatigue so I tried it again this year. After two days I had the same symptoms....this stuff is dangerous. ## That can be a normal side effect of this medication, according to FDA reports, since it is an antihistamine that is used to treat or prevent allergies. It may also cause drowsiness, skin rash, headache, and congestion. Did Xyzal change their formula recently. I've been taking Xyzal for years for chronic urticaria. However, as of the last refill (June, 2014), it stopped working. Has anyone had this issue? My doctor wants me to try the generic to see if that works. Is there anything else that works as well as Xyzal? ## Hello, Tommy! How are you? No, but what has most likely happened is that you've developed a tolerance to it, after having been on it for so many years. You'll likely need to take a break from it and try a different medication for awhile. What others have you tried for your uticaria? ## Hi, thanks so much for the reply. The docs have me combining it with Allegra. I'm not sure it's working that well yet. I have to wait until the Prednisone treatment is complete. Other th...

I had an experience April 20th & April 21st. My doctor gave me an allergy medication called Xyzal for seasonal Allergies. I ended up in the hospital because I had 5 days of hallucinations. It was like being on LSD. I soon found myself having alot of anxiety from this and had to wait 4 months to see a phychiarist. They put me on Zoloft. They put me on 25mg but I think they have to up the dosage because I have been taking it for about 2 weeks and I see only a slight change. Does anybody know how long I have to take this before I feel less anxiety? ## My Dr. started me out on 25 mg for the first week, then increased it to 50. I read it takes at least a week to start working. I had my first dose today. I hope it works. I've been self medacating and that does not work. ## to Jji hope...

I seem to get anxiety and fidgety with this drug, are these side effects? ## Xyzal contains the active ingredient LevoCetirizine, it is an antihistamine, commonly used to treat allergies. Unfortunately, some people do get this type of reaction from antihistamines, especially the ones like this that are listed as non-sedating. This effect should wear off as your body adjusts to the medication, it it doesn't, or you have already been taking it for more than a month and are still experiencing it, please speak to your doctor. Other side effects may include: nausea, headache, heart palpiations and blurred vision. You can read more about it here: Is there anything else I can help you with?

Last night we switched my 16yo from Claritin to Xyzal - She woke up with more hives than normal. Should this start working right away for hives? Or does it take a while to build up in the system? ## Why was her medication switched? It should work within 15 to 20 minutes, just like the Claritin did. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and dry mouth. Neither of these may work super effectively for hives. Were they prescribed by her doctor? What is she allergic to?

can the antihistamine be extracted from Xyzal ## Since the active ingredient in Xyzal is Levocetirizine, with no other active ingredients, why would you need to extract it? Once it's compounded in with other inactive ingredients, it would be a very tedious and most likely expensive process. If you prefer it in some other form, then why not just look for the Levocetirizine in a different formulation?
