Wellbutrin SR Bupropion

Bupropion, sold under the brand names Wellbutrin and Zyban among others, is an atypical antidepressant primarily used to treat major depressive disorder and to support smoking cessation.[6][7] Bupropion is an effective antidepressant on its own, but it is also popular as an add-on medication in the cases of incomplete response to the first-line selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) antidepressant.[7][8] Bupropion has seve...

is there a difference in wellbutrin and wellbutrin 150mg sr tab actavissou? i was taking the regular wellbutrin then my new prescriptson is the tab sr. a round pale yellow pill. other coment said it causes sezures? ## Brandy, the "SR" means sustained release, meaning that you take a single larger dosage less often because it is gradually released in your body. There is a minor risk of seizures as a possible side effect of this medication - the chances of it are low but do increase with a higher dose. I'd say since you are starting this new dosage that you either make sure you're around others, or at least have your doc on speed dial to report any side effects. More details about this medication are available at: Hope this helps and good luck!

I'm a 58 year old woman who had a total hysterectomy at 48 years of age, taking hormone replacement (estradiol cream) I started on Wellbutrin 150 mg., by Sandoz, (pink pill) and was on it for maybe 3 weeks. Did nothing for me. However, I seemed to be angrier and more emotional. Dr increased dosage to 200 SR which I've been taking for a week. Wellbutrin has been in my system for 1 month now and there has been some slight improvement not much. My dr mentioned she might include Effexor with it. Actually my Dr wanted me to take Effexor instead of Wellbutrin, but I preferred Wellbutrin because I was concerned about the weight gain. All I know is that I'm experiencing some of what I did not want on an antidepressant. Although I have not gained weight, I'm hungry, itchy at time...

I have read all the problems people are having with the generic versions of the Wellbutrin XL but I have had similar problems with the change in generics for Wellbutrin SR. I originally took 300 to 400 mgs of Wellbutrin SR manufactured by Watson. I have had several changes but did okay on the Wellbutrin by Watson and Sandoz. I went into a deep depression when I was switched to the Mylan but my insurance at first denied a different brand. Now they will switch to another generic with a special process. Has anyone experienced any side effects or improvement with the generic by Activis? ## Hello, Sorry to hear about your problems switching between all those manufacturers. It is however important to know that everyone reacts differently to these types of medications. So while one generic may...

Okay, I am hoping to get some help. I was on Pristiq 100 mg for the last three years. My insurance now is having a higher co-pay plus I have gained 25 lbs. So the PA switched my to Wellbutrin SR 150mg. It is day three and I feel awful. Very foggy and light headed. Well I found out from her nurse today, that I should not be having any caffeine when I take it. How long will this feeling last?? Anyone have words of wisdom. I am not hungry and that is the good thing. I want to try to stick it out. ## Hi Mojo, Everyone's body handles medication differently so there is no way to know when the side effects will go away for sure.If they haven't gone away in a couple weeks, you might want to speak with your doctor. Feeling light headed obviously isn't normal and may be a sign that yo...

What does the XR part of the subject RX mean? ## It is just one of several abbreviations used to denote that the medictaion is a sustained release or controlled release formulation. This means that instead of being released all at once, the tablet has been specially formulated to slowly release the active ingredient over the relevant number of dosing hours. Are there any questions or comments?

Has anyone experienced diarrhea? I switched from XL dosing, to the 75mg tabs, and when I eat, I have stomach pain, and almost immediate diarrhea. This did not happen on the XL...I have been on the 75mg tabls for one week now. This side effect is not even mentioned...Thank you. ## I have been takeing wellbutrin xl 350 mg. for 1 year and never had those side effects.I take them to quit smokeing and they work. ## Thanks, Kevin. I think the protective coating, and slow release may be important on the XL. I will talk to my MD, and switch back to see what happens. ## I took 300mg SR for years But never experenced diarrhea only the oppisite I think do to the SR caoting ## I haven't been taking Wellbutrin as long as you guys have. I was switched from 100 mg in the morning and now i take 300...

Recently I started taking Wellbutrin SR (generic). I'm prescribed 100 mg twice daily. However, I've been taking been taking all 200 mg once a day in the morning. Ultimately, is the SR version still effective if only taken once a day? Why do people usually take it twice a day? Will I experience any disadvantages by taking it all at once? Today is my 8th day on Wellbutrin. I definitely feel SOME improvement. ## It is usually best to take it twice daily, as directed, due to the fact that its efficacy depends on it being maintained at a certain level in your body. Taking them both, at once, does not provide you a full 24 hours of medication. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and mood changes. Is there anything else I can help w...

My experience with this medication is so bad I'm looking at felony charges. I became completely irrational, irritable etc. ## Hi Tracy, I hope things are improving for you. I was on 300mg/daily for 2 1/2 years for nerve pain. Bad s--- for sure. See if you can get some L-Tryptophan and some 5-HPT to ease the discontinuation. Remember, ALL SSRI's are harmful, they alter the neuro pathways of the brain, sometimes irreversibly. God be with you, Love and Light, Brad ## my husband was put on gabapentin 300mg for neuropathic pain. The change in his personality was terrifying, A normally rather placid happy go lucky guy turned into a raging bull. He put his fist right throu our bathroom wall and didnt even realise he had done it. He walked into my next door neighbours house and threaten...

stomach upset after taking wellbutrin sr for 3 years I started getting sick to my stomach when I take it now. Does anyone else have this problem with Wellbutrin sr? ## Hello, Anna! How are you feeling? Sorry about the stomach upset. Our bodies change with time, so it is possible to experience something new like this, even if you've managed to take something for quite awhile, without a problem. Learn more Wellbutrin details here. Have you been eating or drinking anything different recently? Are you taking it at a different time of day? Have you consulted your doctor?

Hi, I have been using wellbutrin sr 1n the dosage of 200 to 250 mg daily for about 9 months.2 week ago my blodd test showed very low platelet count 10-15, Could this be related to the use of wellbutrin. Please give your comments. Thanks ## Hi, Sahmed! How are you? And yes, from some studies I've found doing a search, Bupropion, which is the active ingredient in Wellbutrin, as well as several other antidepressant class medications can cause changes in the platelet count in some people that take them. Bupropion is not as prone to causing it as the others, but it did do so in some test subjects. Have you consulted your doctor about it? You may need to try a different medication.

Hi I started taking the generic Wellbutrin SR 10 days ago. The first day I took 100 mg in the morning and at night and I felt really sick to my stomach so the next day I got a crazy idea of cutting the 100mg in half and taking half in morning and half at night. I was ok until two days ago and I feel like I have the worst hangover. I finally called my doctor and she put me on bupropion hcl 75 mg cause she said you can't cut the SR pills. I took the bupropion hcl this morning and I still feel like i have worst hangover again. Did I mess myself up by taking the split pills for that many days or am I just not able to take this medicine? ## All medications carry the risk of causing side effects, the FDA lists the ones for this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache,...

already on effexor xr wondering if anyone has combined this with wellbutrin xl, if so, any side effects? ## I take 300 mg effexor xr and 150 SR bupron....generic and less bowel movements than before, more crampy but in general it works for me....want off effexor becuz I think I have built a tolerance. maybe I've lost a few pounds....feel more even, less tired all the time! honestly I never totally know with psych meds cuz they build up slow and I'm moody anyway ...hope this helped some. ## There can be some risks to combining them, such as developing serotonin syndrome, which can be dangerous, or fatal, so you should not combine them, unless your doctor instructs you to do so, and is monitoring you regularly. That said, they are sometimes combined, when someone isn't respond...

I was receiving from Walgreens Bupropion 150mg SR which were green tablets imprinted M U12. Best medication I have ever been prescribed because it also acted as a stimulant therefore I no longer needed to sleep during the day. But after receiving the latest refiill I noticed I was again exhausted each day and needed to sleep. Later realized Walgreens gave me different tablets...a purple tablet imprinted S on one side and 525 on the other side. Walgreens said the purple tablet was exactly the same as the green tablet and it was FDA approved. What does FDA really mean? That the ingredients, the amount of each ingredient, and the quality of each ingredient is EXACTLY the same from one manufacturer to the next? Walgreens wouldn't return my money. Said the difference in refills was marke...

Is the efficacy in dosing comparable or the same?? My rheumatologist titrated me off Effexor XR 150mg which I was taking to assist in controlling my Fibromyalgia pain & put me on Wellbutrin SR 150mg. I am 3 weeks taking Bupropion & I have been crying & depressed like never in my life the past 3 days & having suicidal thoughts. I just thought I was experiencing major depression due to a few recent events but THEN it just dawned on me I switched these medications recently and I feel this CHANGE is what is affecting my mental state. What do I do???? I can't take the crying & feeling this way much longer. It is Sunday & I know the first advice is going to be CALL MY DOCTOR. What is the second suggestion, increase the Bupropion? Take an Effexor XR?? I already took...

You could be suffering some withdrawal/rebound effects from stopping it, plus side effects from starting the new medication. These can last for about 4 to 6 weeks, before your body ad...

I was on paxil for about 20 years, I'm now 43...it just seemed to stop so we decided to try Wellbutrin. After the terrible paxil withdrawal finally ended I started to feel some energy and motivation but still quite anxious, very irritable and angered quickly. cry for no reason and some minor aches and pains...talked to Dr, at first they said try Ativan as a side help--didnt do much...ok then they say vistaril---thats fine if I want to sleep all day. now they are saying try propanolol (spelling)...I haven't tried it yet but this is my first full week 150mg twice a day wellbutrin and 3rd week total on the drug...I guess Im just looking for insight if this anxiety, irritability anger etc will pass...according to Dr it will but I'm losing my mind right now...it's so hard com...
