I am currently uninsured, and with the help of an attorney, am trying to get disability benefits. I am in chronic pain (over 20 years) and currently going to methadone clinic. I started at clinic 6 years ago when my regular Dr. moved out of state. He was prescribing me duragesic 75. The methadone clinic is expensive and is no longer controlling the pain. I have fairly recent mri's. Ruptured and herniated discs. and am looking for a pain management Dr. that takes uninsured patients. My disability claim was denied and is currently being appealed mainly due to the fact that my pain med is prescribed under drug dependence guidelines (not pain management). I would appreciate any help finding an appropriate pain management Dr. in the Melbourne, Fl. area.

How long after your last dose does Fragmin continue to have blood thinning effects? ## The active ingredient in Fragmin Graduated Syringes is dalteparin sodium. Each syringe contains 10,000 IU (units) of dalteparin sodium as a sterile solution for IV administration. As far as how long the drug effects your blood, I'm unable to provide a direct answer; but listed below is information regarding the half life of this drug (i.e. how long it takes for half of the drug to be excreted from your system): "The half-life of Dalteparin after I.V. inj. is 2 hours and after S.C. inj., 3 to 4 hours. After 4 hours about 20% is seen in the urine, with the major organs for the remainder being the liver, GI tract and kidney. After 72 hours, 70% of a radioactive dalteparin dose has been excreted. ...

I finished 8 weeks of Harvoni on April 8 and labs said HCV is undetected. My question is has anyone heard of "post-Harvoni reduced immunity" I came down with a bad case of the flu and doc thinks Harvoni may have caused reduced immunity. Any insights? ## Hi Sam, I have yet to come across any specific details on post-Harvoni immunity. However, in order to reach an accurate conclusion one must also take into consideration some other things that can impact one's level of immune function, such as: environmental factors, diet, mental/emotional health, etc, during and after the time frame of treatment. Not sure if Harvoni is available in inj. form like similar medications are, but just as a side note - there was a study done by Rockefeller University, suggesting that the act of adm...

I am currently perscribed 20 mg of Saboxone a day. Have been taking it for four months. I Want to have another baby and I am trying to find out if Subutex is safer than Saboxone. My rehab clinic's doctor isnot much help. He suggests talking to OBGYN. They say talk to him. So that's how that went. I know that neither one is reccomended during pregnancy but would rather this than use. Any suggestions? ## I was in almost the same situation as you. I had been taking suboxone for several months and then I got pregnant. My doctor who was prescribing the suboxone changed my prescription to the subutex right away. In the United States there is no studies done showing the side effects of suboxone while pregnant so the FDA has not approved it for use, however in other countries there are ...

Flat round white pill. Vitamin D3 1000 Unit. Pls describe what this will do and is the dose too much? ## Vitamin D supplementing can be essential for those who don't get enough sunlight. Vitamin D2 is a synthetic version of D3, so it is great that you have D3 instead of D2! Vitamin D insufficiency can result in thin, brittle, or misshapen bones, while sufficiency prevents rickets in children and osteomalacia in adults, and, together with calcium, helps to protect older adults from osteoporosis. Personally I supplement with Vitamin D3 2000 Unit. I have read that as much as 5000 Unit isn't overdosing, especially if you aren't in the sunlight very often. Hope this information helps! Please post back if you have any other questions or comments. ## During Crohn's illness or e...

My wife is 31 years old. She had a miscarriage in August 2008 and is currently in her 8th week of pregnancy. She sometimes experiences vomiting in the morning, expelling all the food she has had for breakfast. Other symptoms include occasional headaches, drowsiness for 4-5 hours, and a feeling of total body weakness. She has been prescribed Folivite 5mg, Susten 400mg (one tablet each day), and Chorion injections of 5000 units; all of which were started after her 5th week of pregnancy as per doctor's instructions. As for her nausea, would it be possible for her to take Doxinate Plus to alleviate it? ## Yes

We moved from Connecticut down to Florida, with medical charts in hand. We were told in Connecticut that we could go into any CVS/Walgreens stores to refill prescriptions, as it's a universal drug store. Now, I know the Duragesic Patch cannot be refilled through the system and must be handwritten and handed to the pharmacist. We complied with those rules (Florida having many!). We went to CVS, they looked up my mother's record and saw that she indeed has the Duragesic Patch. I handed them the script and it took them 10 long days to get it in. We then decided after that experience we would use Walgreens down the road from our home. We went in, explained the experience we had with CVS, they rolled their eyes and told us it would only take 3 days at the most with them. So, when it ...

For those of you suffering with Treatment Resistant Major Depressive Disorder, Emory University is doing the BEST study in my opinion. They are implanting electrodes into "Area 25" of the brain which when placed in the correct spot, provides immediate relief from some or all of the symptoms of Major Depression. Anyway, their study has shown far better prognosis long-term than Ketamine which is only meant for short term, emergent use (per the NIH study objective). I mention Ketamine because these is a lot of buzz about it lately as a treatment which it is not, nor will it ever receive FDA approval for long term treatment. At Emory they implant the electrode during surgery which you are awake for. When they tap into the spot that gives you immediate positive response, the electrod...

Is it possible to import Rumoquin from outside the United States? I think it's over the counter, just not out here. Worked really great for me when I needed it during a trip. I just wonder if customs allows you to bring back medication for personal use? ## Hello, Mere! How are you? If you are taking something, or it is prescribed for you, while visiting another country, you can bring back up to a 3 month supply with you. However, since the FDA doesn't like these combinations, so it's not approved here, you wouldn't be able to just import it or anything. It is listed as containing the NSAID Diclofenac; the steroid Dexamethasone and the muscle relaxant Methocarbamol. Its typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, nervousness, insomnia, acne...

My husband took his Saturday and Sunday evening meds during dinner; pradaxa, metopropal tartrate, and flomax. Is this a huge problem? I'm more worried about the pradaxa. I looked up the metopropal tartrate but could not find pradaxa. ## Hi Patti, According to the University of Maryland Medical Center's drug interaction tool, there is a quote "medium interaction potential" between Flomax and Metoprolol. Their warning denotes the following concerns: *Treatment with both drugs may result in low blood pressure (too low I'm assuming) *Using both together may result in an increased risk of certain side effects *Call your doctor if you feel lightheaded, or have fainting spells They also go on to state that your doctor may change the dose or how often you use one or both of ...
