Does trimethoprim have gluten in it? ## Hi tammy, Most medications do not contain gluten, but in order to find out for sure, one would need to contact the manufacturer of that specific pill to obtain a list of its inactive ingredients. Do you perhaps have a pill imprint and description that you could provide? I may be able to look this up for you.

Hi I started taking trimethoprim 200mg twice a day for 7 days for a uti 2 days ago, I got a severe headache straight away which I never get,the next day I never took the meds but I started to feel very sick like I wanted to throw up all day couldn't eat and felt seriously dehydrated,it felt as though I was withdrawing I also woke up in the middle of the night pouring sweat and shaking badly for about an hour straight.ok so now this morning I took the tablet again and I feel fine not sick anything but yet I'm very drousy just want to sleep,the strange thing iv noticed is that when you don't take it u withdraw badly but ur not tired and when you do take it ur soo tired you can't move very strange meds!I'm going to book apptmt with my GP asap! ## Hi, Chanelle! I was given Trimephoprim to be taken twice daily for 3 days for a severe uti,however I have developed the most dreadful water like diarrhoea , is this coincidence or is it like the medication that has caused this? ## Hello, Michelle! How are you? Diarrhea can be a normal side effect of most antibiotics, as listed by the FDA. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache and non-allergic skin rash. The best thing to do is to make sure you take in enough liquids to avoid dehydration and it should pass, once your finish your course of treatment. Is there anything else I can help with?

Im taking sulfameth trimethoprim 800-160 for an infection on my face that went into my lynph nodes. After taking only 2 pills my top lip became swollen with a rash on the inside and blisters on the bottom of my tongue. I stopped taking them for 4 days. I took one today because the infection wasnt going away. Now, my tongue feels like needles are going through it for the past 5 hours. It's now going into my gums and lips. chest and kidney infection can I take both together ## Has your doctor told you to take both of them? Can I take accutane 10 and trimethoprim at the same time..?. ## Hi sonia, Based on my research there are no drug interactions found between Accutane (isotretinoin) and Trimethoprim. I have been prescribed Trimethoprim 6 tablets-only for 3 days on last week for urinary infection and my doc check my vaginal discharge n urine n put it into on lab.the report would be come on 23 rd April .But It didn't cure my vagina discharge! i got trimethoprim for a uti but also have a sore throat so was wandering if it will also get rid of my bad throat? ## It may also help with that, if the sore throat has been caused by an infection, antibiotics really can't be directed to work selectively in the body. Was prescribed sulfameth/trimethoprim 800/160 for infection in thumb. Was to take it for 10 days but on 8 day developed an itchy rash - should I continue to take it. I am not allergic to any medications. Can I take benadryl to help? ## No, once you get the itchy rash from this it means that most likely you are allergic to it and things will only get worse if you continue taking it and there is the risk of your developing much more dangerous reactions. This means that the only way it will help clear up a rash, is if that rash is caused by an infection. And yes, it can cause a non-allergic skin rash as a side effect, however, these are usually very mild and they will go away, a few days after you finish your prescribed course of the medication. My mom83 started bactrim sulfameth/trimethoprim two days ago and is so exhausted weak upset stomach seeing guys on the roof hallucinations no appetite....think she should stop and take another rx for her bladder infection....what is a better drug? this is an allergic reaction, no? side efeects that seem disabling to me..... ## Bactrim does have what I would call "disabling" side effects, but I don't think that this is an allergic reaction, unless she is experiencing severe swelling or rashes of some kind. Hallucinations are reportedly a general severe side effect of this antibiotic, as is weakness and fatigue, among a large list of other possible side effects.
