Long story short I was unable to get my last birth control prescription filled so I haven't had for about two weeks now. Will I just have to start over at the next month and be fine?? ## I was wondering if after taking the IC tri-sprintec tablets for three weeks if i would be protected against pregnancy? ## After missing that many days, you will need to fully start over in order to be protected against pregnancy, generally that requires taking it for a full cycle, IE: one month. Vaughn, you are only protected while actively taking it, so you should continue beyond 3 weeks, if you are actively engaging in intercourse. The FDA lists the typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irregular bleeding, mood changes, and weight changes. R...

It is normal not to get ...

I having been takin tri spintec for 3 years and after my husband has been 'fixed i no longer need it: so my question is, will i experience any side effects because of not taking this anymore ## Yes, you can experience some minor effects, because your body will have to readjust to not having the hormones. This could include some nausea, weight fluctuations and acne. It will not last for too long, however, usually a month or so, at most. Do you have any other questions?

i was on tri sprintec and june 27 i went to the drug store and she gave me these tri previfm pills but i started bleeding friday nite june 24 i had missed 2 pills now im still bleeding i just staretd taking the tri previfm pill june 27 cause it was a monday. my period was june 1. ## You are more than likely bleeding because you missed taking some of the pills. When you take them all, as you should, there is usually a week where you don't take any, or take a placebo pill with no active ingredients, that triggers your body to start your menstrual cycle. Therefore, by missing 2 tablets, you have done the same thing. You should, however, still continue to take them daily, as prescribed and make sure you don't miss any more of them, because that puts you at risk of pregnancy. Are the...

I used to take Sprintec and my period would start on Mondays. I was off of it a few months because my prescription ran out and it took me a while to get to the doctor. I want to stay with a Monday start so what day should I start back taking my pills? ## Hello, Keshia! How are you? You can start them on a Monday, as long as your doctor approves and it doesn't necessarily have to be when you are on your period. You can start them at any time during your cycle, but if you aren't on your period, it will take 7 days for them to reach their full level of efficacy in the body to prevent pregnancy. So, you'll need to use a back up form of protection, until the 8th day. The FDA lists the most common side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headach...

I just got a prescription for Tri Sprintec. Last Thursday was my last day of my cycle. Which pill do I start taking now since I already had my cycle? ## Hello, Megan! How are you? You can actually start it at any time, unless your doctor gives some reason why you cannot, but if you start it when you are not on your period, you'll need to use a back up method of protection for the first full 7 days, because it will take that long to become effective and prevent pregnancy. Is there anything else I can help with? ## How do I know if I need sprintec or not and what if I dont what side effects could occur

I took the Tri-sprintec 28 day supply, and I still have yet to have a (period) cycle begin , but I am experiencing menstrual like cycle cramps? This I've never dealt with I would like to point out that (I'm 5'8, 335 LBS. women) any thought to what I may be experiencing also prior to this event I walked 5k every day on a 3 week raw life style W/O any(minimal) Animal products ;-) ## Hello, KattyBUG! How are you? Some women don't experience periods, while taking this oral contraceptive, so it's nothing to worry about, unless your doctor feels otherwise. Your weight could also be affecting it, as listed by the FDA, some oral contraceptives aren't as effective for overweight women. Your weight could also worsen the PCOS and mess up your natural body hormones, so you c...

Hello, i an 18 year old and I was just prescribed Tri Sprintec to regulate my irregular periods. I have Hypothyroidism and Anemia (from prolonged heavy bleeding) I'm taking 88mg of Levothryoxine. My most recent period lasted for 31 days. I recently started my period again on Thursday and it is now Tuesday. When should I start taking my pills if I still have my period right now (it is light and the flow stops and starts randomly). My main reason for asked this is because in exactly 28 days I will be going on a 5 day camping trip and I don't want to have my period then. If I start my first pill today, will I have my period during my camping trip? Thank you! ## These tablets can be started at any time during your cycle, you just need to be aware that will not prevent pregnancy, unt...

I have been taking the triaprintec pills now since I had my son 6 weeks after my pp visit, which about a bout 6 1/2 months ago, I had my regular period every month from the 7th-12th, and my period was due the 7th but I've not gotten it yet I've taken all my white pills and started the first row of blue in a new pack should I stop taking the new pack I started til I get my period because I took a pregnancy test and it was negative this happened once before so if I've not started by tomorrow I may call my obgyn ## This is a hormonal based contraceptive, so it may cause you to skip your cycle, once in awhile and it is really nothing to worry about. And no, you shouldn't stop taking them, that will stop your being protected from pregnancy. By all means, if you're concern...

I just started sprintec today and my period is due to come on in two weeks. Will my period come a few weeks late since i will be on the second week of pills? ## Hello, Mooney! How are you? There's no way to say for sure, it depends on how your body reacts to the added hormones. It may delay your period, until the week of inactive pills, or you may get on schedule. You may also have a period both times. Typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, weight gain, PMS like symptoms and mood swings. Also, please remember that if you didn't start it the first or second day of your period, you will not be protected from pregnancy, until you've taken the active tablets for a full 7 days, so you'll need some backup method of contraception, until the 8th day. Is th...

I started tri sprintec back in May. At the beginning of July I stopped taking them for two months and then started again a few weeks ago. I remembered my doctor saying to start the Sunday after your next period. So after my next period, which ended on a Sunday. I started. A few days later I started a second period. This one heavier than normal. And it has been going on for five days now. I'm wondering if this is just because I started and stopped? Or should I be worried. ## Hello, Hope! How are you? They should actually be started the first day of your period, regardless of what day that is, but regardless… Irregular bleeding can be normal, because your body hasn't really had a chance to adjust to the hormones, yet. Especially since you took them for a couple months, then ...

Ive been on tri sprintec for exactly two weeks now and im braking out... A lot. All over my cheast and my face. Ive tryed to clear it up but i cant and its getting worse. Will this change???? ## Did you contact your doctor? Has it cleared up, any? Since these are hormonal based contraceptives, they will sometimes cause breakouts, in some people, when your body is still getting used to them. It usually clears up, after about 3 months, once your body has adjusted to the medication.

This is the first month I've been on birth control and I was told to start it right away, and I did, so 2 weeks into my first pack I started my period, but before it started I had 2 or 3 days of terrible cramping, which is why I went on birth control in the first place, I figured it was normal and kept taking the pills once a day but the cramping hasn't gone away, normally my periods are 3 days long but so far it's been a week and hasn't stopped plus the 3 days and in total my cramps have been far worse than they ever have been before, and the blood that is coming out is bright red and thin, normally my period blood is dark and thick, I don't know if this is normal but I can't handle the cramping much longer. ## Hello, Kirsten! How are you doing? I'm sorry ab...

I had one pill left in my pack of tri-sprintec that I took on Sunday but when I picked my new pack up on Monday they switched me to tri-previfem. Is it ok to take evn though I took a different brand Sunday? ## Yes, they are exactly the same, the Tri=Previfem is just a generic for the Tri-Sprintec. Learn more oral contraceptive details here. If you check the ingredient labels, you should see that they are identical in the amounts. Is there anything else I can help you with? ## Hi Max, Because both brands contain the same active ingredients, in my opinion it should be just fine to take the other set of pills. When you switch brand names or manufacturers the drug itself doesn't change, but rather the binders or fillers that they put with it. However I do want to mention that certain ...

I just got off of my period & I'm ready to start a new pack. My pharmacy switched me to Tri-Previfem and I don't know which pill to take or which week to start with without starting my period again. Can someone please explain how I start this new pack and which week is which? ## Hello, Farrah! How are you? I'm sorry about the confusion and am happy to clear this up for you. According to the manufacturers website, you should start with the first pill of week one and then continue as your normally would. The FDA lists the side effects for oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, breakthrough bleeding and PMS like symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with?

I started my new pack and only took three pills. Because I missed so many I just decided to stop it all together. Trying to get pregnant. Now I've been off for about two weeks. I'm ovulating this week. Now I am having cramps and very light spotting. Am I going to start my period early because I stopped taking it on day three? ## Hello, Heather! How are you doing? Has anything changed? Yes, that can occur, since this is a hormonal contraceptive, as classified by the FDA. The cramping can also be a withdrawal effect, you may also experience headache and other PMS-like symptoms. In a few weeks, however, things should return to normal, if not, then please consult your doctor. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Looks like I started my menstralcycle early. It's very lights...

I am finishing my 3rd pack of Tri Sprintec and I notice today, when I should be on my period, I am having light bleeding. Before I was on Sprintec my period started on the 4th white pill in the morning. Since I began Tri Sprintec it starts in the afternoon. I am only bleeding lightly today. Could I be pregnant or is my body still adjusting to the new pills? I haven't missed a pill at all. ## Hi ayla, From what I could gather, irregular bleeding and/or menstrual periods (relative to the time frame that you're used to experiencing such symptoms) are reported to be general side effects of Norgestimate + Ethinyl Estradiol - the two key components in Tri Sprintec. So if you haven't missed any pills at all, my opinion is that you probably don't need to be too concerned about t...

I have just started Tri Sprintec. I am on the last week (white pills) of my first pack and I started my period today (June 12) and it is really light. Should I be worried or is it suppose to be light? I'm confused. ## There are hormonal based contraceptives, so it is normal for them to cause menstrual irregularities, it could be lighter, or heavier than normal, you may also skip altogether. Have you discussed the side effect information with your doctor? Learn more oral contraceptive details here.
