Tri-Previfem Ethinyl Estradiol + Norgestimate

Ethinylestradiol (EE) is an estrogen medication which is used widely in birth control pills in combination with progestins.[7][8] In the past, EE was widely used for various indications such as the treatment of menopausal symptoms, gynecological disorders, and certain hormone-sensitive cancers. It is usually taken by mouth but is also used as a patch and vaginal ring.[7][12] The general side effects of EE include breast tendernes...

Hello, i take tri-previfem. I have for a while now but last month I accidentally skipped my placibo pills and went straight to a new active pack. I skipped my period and now I'm on the sugar pills of this pack of birth control. I was just wondering if anyone knew how I could calculate when my period may start. I know for a fact I can't be pregnant but does anyone have any ideas that could help me? ## Hello, PandySue! How are you? If you are taking the inactive tablets now, then your period should start within a day or two of taking them. When taking OCs, your period is actually caused by withdrawal of the hormones, which is why you skipped it last month. If it doesn't start, then your hormonal balance may be off and you may need to check in with your doctor. Is there anythin...

This is my second pack of triprevifem and I didnt skip my period last month. But right now im on my 2nd pack and week of placebos and I havent started. I was suposed to start monday and its tuesday. I might be pregnant but I hope not. Am I pregnant or is my period a little late? Is it normal to skip a period? ## Hello, Casi! How are you? I understand your concern and am happy to help! It is normal to sometimes skip your period, when taking oral contraceptives and is usually nothing to worry about, unless your doctor thinks otherwise. As long as you didn't miss any tablets, you aren't likely to be pregnant. But missed periods, irregular bleeding and spotting can all be side effects of hormonal contraceptives. Is there anything else I can help with?

My period started on September 27th, 2014. I took the tri-previfem pill today Monday,October 6th, 2014 and accidently skipped yesterday Sunday Oct. 5th. I started taking the first Monday pill today since I missed yesterday, which was Sunday. How should I take the pills now? Should I just take the remaining 1st weeks pills skipping yesterday's pill, which I have not taken and start on the 2nd week's pill starting this Sunday? Will it affect my period and will it still prevent me from getting pregnant? ## Hello, Vicky! How are you? You actually should have started taking them the first day of your period to be immediately protected from pregnancy. Since you started later in your cycle and missed a tablet, you'll need to take the active tablets for a full 7 days, before you wil...

Hi! I'm going to stop Tri-Previfem to level out my body in order to try to conceive in a few months. I've been on birth control pills (mostly this one and similar to it) for 17 years and I'm worried about what to expect. I'm fine with my period being a little whacky for a few months, but vainly I'm worried that my face will go crazy with acne. I had acne prior to starting the pill, but I was also 16, so I'm just not sure what to expect. Also, if acne does flare up, does it decrease once you do get pregnant? Thanks! ## There is a risk of you developing acne, again, and there is no way to say how becoming pregnant may affect it. Other withdrawals effects may include mood swings, headaches, and weight changes, according to the FDA. Do you experience pimples around y...

I have been taking this pills since May and I never threw up till two weeks ago. I started throwing up yellow stuff I have been very moody I have been having real bad headaches dizziness at times. What are the side effects of Tri Previfem? ## Hello, LadyV! How are you? Are you taking them on an empty stomach? If so, that could be what's causing the vomiting, the yellow stuff is likely just bile or a coloring agent in the pills. The other symptoms can be normal side effects of taking it, since it is a hormonal contraceptive. If they are that problematic you may need to speak to your doctor about trying a different one. Is there anything else I can help with?

Since i started taking this drug, i feel very bloated. Is weight gain a side effect? ## Common side effects while taking Tri-Previfem are bloating, changes in weight, and many more. To view more side effects about this drug click on the link below... ## write down your symtems on a calender. I had severe swelling and bloating on the same days of each month. The fourth day of the month. On my third month on the fourth day, I had a heart attack! I'm 42 years old. I have no high blood pressure and beautiful cholesteral levels. figure that out! ## since the pill makes the cervix have more mucus, making it hard for sperm to get through, does that mean it is hard for your period to get through? please help! im freaking out! ## i just started my new pack of tri-previfem and the 1st week ar...

I had one pill left in my pack of tri-sprintec that I took on Sunday but when I picked my new pack up on Monday they switched me to tri-previfem. Is it ok to take evn though I took a different brand Sunday? ## Yes, they are exactly the same, the Tri=Previfem is just a generic for the Tri-Sprintec. Learn more oral contraceptive details here. If you check the ingredient labels, you should see that they are identical in the amounts. Is there anything else I can help you with? ## Hi Max, Because both brands contain the same active ingredients, in my opinion it should be just fine to take the other set of pills. When you switch brand names or manufacturers the drug itself doesn't change, but rather the binders or fillers that they put with it. However I do want to mention that certain ...

I just got off of my period & I'm ready to start a new pack. My pharmacy switched me to Tri-Previfem and I don't know which pill to take or which week to start with without starting my period again. Can someone please explain how I start this new pack and which week is which? ## Hello, Farrah! How are you? I'm sorry about the confusion and am happy to clear this up for you. According to the manufacturers website, you should start with the first pill of week one and then continue as your normally would. The FDA lists the side effects for oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, breakthrough bleeding and PMS like symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with?

In past months if I accidentally missed a pill, I would double up the next day, but then would have violent pains and vomiting. This past month, I accidentally missed a pill and decided to avoid the extreme illness (since I was probably throwing up the dose anyway), and I skipped the one I missed and went on to the next one. My period came a week early, and I have had spotting ever since, and now have an acne flare up. What does this mean and what should I do? ## Hello, Sue! How are you? That is normal, if you miss a tablet. As listed by the FDA, you may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache and PMS-like symptoms. It may take a month, or so, for your hormones to balance back out and for things to return to normal. It's generally nothing to worry about, unless your doctor think...

I lost one pill (Tuesday) on the last week of active pills and just took the next days pill in replace of Tuesday's lost pill. I ended my active pills a day early and started taking the placebo pills on Saturday instead. I had intercourse on Saturday when I started the placebo pill. Did I need backup birth control when having intercourse? Should I take Plan B? I also plan on starting the new pack on this upcoming Saturday now. Thank you. ## Hi Lala, Sorry to hear about the lost pill. To my understanding each and every one of the active / inactive pills contain an equal measure of hormones or inert ingredients. So taking Wednesday's active tablet should not have caused any discernible differences from Tuesday's active tablet. Concerning the possibility of becoming pregnant, i...

I'm on my second pack of the pills and I've been taking them everyday around the same time. I probably shouldn't let there be a time gap on weekends but I take them when I wake up, which is a few hours after my normal time during the week. Would that mess up the effectiveness of the pill? And when I first started taking them, I started my period and forgot to take the pill the first day but my mom told me to just take the first pill on the second day instead. So technically I've always been a pill behind. Is there anything I can do and if I've had intercourse, am I at any greater risk? And finally, my last period started at a really strange time and lasted a full 5 days but I kept bleeding for another whole week, is that normal? And is there a large risk if I had unp...

I'm on my period and I was told to start my pills today...I have never taken them. Will it help prevent bleeding? ## Hello, Netta! How are you? It can help regulate periods for some women that take it, but it may take 3 months or so, before you will know if it will do that for you, or not. The FDA lists its other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability and PMS-like symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have been on Sprintec until 11/2012 when I got pregnant. My daughter was born 9/2013 and I breastfed (on minipill) until 10/2014. I'm now on the first week of my second pack of Tri-previfem (subbed by pharmacy) and I am dying! I have severe vaginal dryness and itching. I am only 29 years old, so I'm not nearing menopause. I plan to make an ob/gyn appt after the holiday weekend, but was wondering if this is a common side affect of this drug or of it could be related to "my hormones changing" from breastfeeding. ## Hello, Kay! How are you? It could be due to either one, actually. That's usually a sign of lowered estrogen levels. You may need to switch to a different one, for now or add something else to supplement your estrogen. Side effects may include nausea, dizzi...

Hi. I have been on Tri-Previfem for about 8 months now. My last pill in the 2nd week fell down the drain. I called my Pharmacist and he told me to take the last active pill in the pack (which would have been the Saturday pill in the 3rd week) and then Sunday start my 3rd week of pills and when I got to the Saturday pill that I had already taken just start my placebo pills. My question is do I need to use protection?? ## There is a slight risk of pregnancy, but only for the later week of your period, where you actually miss a pill. To prevent that, it would be best to use extra protection for the first 7 days of your new pack. The FDA lists the typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, breakthrough bleeding and PMS-like s...

So basically I made the mistake of taking week 4,instead of week 1.....It's been so hectic...what with the flooding down here (I live in Louisiana) After realizing I messed up I freaked and tried to catch up...but now looking at it...idk how I will...I'm already stressed and this made it worse.... ## Hello, Kristian! How are you? I hope you're still safe and well. The flooding has been terrible. If this ever happens again, remember, to start the active tablets, as soon as you realize your error and to take them for a full 7 days, before having unprotected intercourse, again. At this point, if you had intercourse during that week, there is a slight risk of pregnancy, but not very high, due to the fact that most women don't ovulate until approximately day 14 or 15 of their...

Hey! I started this last month on 4/25 and the first week was miserable. I take it in the morning with Zoloft. I had really bad nausea either early in the morning or an hour after I take my pill. I don't usually eat in the morning so maybe that could be the reason why I have felt so awful. I have puked on a bus last month about a day after starting the pill. I finally finished my first pack and I just started a new pack. This time the nausea is worse and I can't stop puking. Especially after trying to eat. I wonder if I just need to eat with the pill, start taking it at night or just stop it all together. I just feel so bad and I want to continue taking it, but if it's going to make me feel like this for a while I'd rather just stop than continue to be nauseous. ## That ...

Okay so I have searched high and low and even asked my pharmacist but I don't think they understood my question. I was on the implant for years and after bad side effects switched to the pill (tri-previfem). I went a month without any form of birth control between the two to let my body sort itself out and DID NOT have ANY intercourse, remained abstinent. My period started on Sunday and I started my BC pack day one, week one - 746 pill (white/greyish) - on that Sunday that I started. I've taken it for three days now and my period stopped, is that supposed to happen? I know I'm supposed to have my period on the last week (week 4) so is it supposed to stop my period once I start taking it the first week? If I could get an answer I would be soooooo grateful! Thanks in advance! ...

Hello, I've been on Tri-Previfem for about 4 months now and have done a pretty good job of taking it consistently. I've never missed a day. 2 questions: 1. I try to take the pills at 1:30p daily. There are times where I'll take it as late as 3 depending on my lunch schedule. Will taking the pill at 3p cause it to lose its effectiveness? 2. Today is a Sunday and I'm supposed to start week 2 of my pill pack this week. I was careless yesterday (Saturday) and accidentally took the pill I was supposed to take today. I see on the pack that pill 1 has .18mg norgestimate, and week 2 has .215mg norgestimate. Today, I took the 'week 1' pill I was supposed to take on Saturday, and plan to proceed with my week 2 pills as usual tomorrow. Will this make the birth control ineff...
