circlur.lineinthemiddle.orange ## is using Talwin similar to using Demerol for pain? I have used demerol for years & have never had to increase my dosage..Is Talwin the same? ## what is Talwin Px vs Talwin? How many mg. of aspirin are in Talwin compound? ## Talwin DOES NOT contain Aspirin! It contains the active ingredient Pentazocine, it is a narcotic, so it is in the same drug class as Demerol, but is a different medication. It is used to treat moderate to severe pain. Talwin PX also contains Pentazocine, it is just a different brand name for it. Some common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and constipation. You can read more here: Did you have any other questions? ## thanx Verwon the Talwin compound has aspirin..I have researched but can only find info that...

I took a suboxone today. Is it safe to take talwin tomorrow? Will it work? ## Hello, Kiki! How are you? Nope, the Naloxone in the Suboxone will most likely block it from working. Usually, you have to wait about 3 days, unless your doctor instructs you otherwise. The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

Do they make pentacozine without naxalone for oral use in the United States? Thank You ## The answer is "no" not in a tablet form. The liquid ampules or vials, yes, are available in the USA. the only country that supples tabet pure Talwin 50 mg is Canada,by the giant pharmaceutical mfg, Sanofi Aventis, of France, in Canada, marketed as "Talwin N" meaning Pentazocine without any narcotic antagonist, which is illegal to produce in Canada. Interestering twist, while, Talwin can only in tablet form of 50 mg must have a narcotic antagonist, in the formula in the USA since 1982, 2nd quarter, due to alleged recreational abuse. Hint: move quick, as Pentazocine, has been removed in its pure tablet form from 21 countries to 8 countries, in the past 10 years, due to either recreati...

Hi all, my husband has been on Talwin nx for many years. In the past two years the cost has gone up and down like crazy. He started taking the generic but that too is so expensive (over $400 for 3 months). Wow I thought generics were suposed to be cheap. We had insurance up to last month and I have no idea how we are going to pay for his pills. He has an inhaler for asthma that is $900 for three months. I know some drug companies help if you can't afford the medication. Does anyone know anything about this? ## When they took Darvocet off the market my doctor put me on Talwin NX which works but it is so expensive. Does anyone know of something that works like these do and are cheaper or maybe a cheaper place to buy the Talwin NX, or the generic Pentazocine/Naloxone? Thanks! ## I have...

DOES TALWIN GIVE YOU BAD DREAMS ## According to various medical references, hallucinations and unusual thoughts are listed as side effects of Talwin Nx (Pentazocine and Naloxone); and although there is nothing listed in the way of nightmares, I would think that the bad dreams may still be related to how this drug is effecting your body. Whenever I took Vicodin in the past, it's always given me bad dreams that were very realistic to say the least. So I know first hand that many drugs could potentially cause this as a side effect. Is it bad enough to make you want to switch medications?

Is it still available? I use to take it and was put on norco when it couldn't be found. Moved to FL. and was put on morphine. I throw up every day and it's about to kill me. Please help. ## Yes Talwin NX is still manufactured. I live in Texas and have been on it for over 5years for a brain tumor. ## Hello William, According to the manufacturer's website it looks as if it's still being manufactured. If you are throwing up constantly I would highly recommend that you discuss this with your primary care doctor. More often than not when they "can't find" a drug it just means that the pharmacies in the area are no longer carrying that product. As such, it may be a painful process finding a location that does carry the product. Let me know if there is anything else...

20 yrs of back problems, degenerative discs, numb lower legs/ankles, severe hip pain. Dr's prescribe me everything (that makes me ill or that I will get addicted to) except what works without a (buzz) or adverse side effects (such as Talwin NX). I was just prescribed morphine extended release, which mad me feel very ill. Told my doctor about the bad effects, and I was told he will not change meds, "you have the number 1 pain med in the US, get used to it." I researched online and found that Talwin is the least addictive pain medication taken orally. I just need a doctor who is willing to treat my pain with this as the surgery did not cure me. Need clues as to which dr. in West Kentucky will help. Please. ## No, Morphine is not the number one pain medication in the U.S., I am...

My pharmacist notified me that the above med is no longer made. Can I get it by any other name or how can I contact the manufacturer to see if it will be made again? After trying many meds over 10 years it is the only one that works for my wife. Please help. thank you ## My pharmacist told me the same thing here in Michigan about 5 days ago....I called 17 local pharmacies and found (1) that had 150 tablets left and I was able to get them. I was told a couple different things: 1. The drug company was going through a major re-organization and there was a backorder, and 2. The drug is on indefinite hiatus. Either way, it will be very bad for me as well. I'm very intolerant to MANY pain relievers and this medication has worked for me for over 10 years with NO side effects. I was wonderi...

I was just wondering If talwin has sulfa drug in them ## Do you suffer from a sulfa allergy? If so, what did you react to? The reason I'm asking is because many people confuse sulfa drugs, sulfates and sulfites. Thus, I can better assist you regarding any possible dangers, if I have more details! Thanks!

I was cleaning an old rental of mine and found a bottle of round, pink tablets. One side has a T/ 21 and the other has a cursive W. Talwin HCL maybe???? These are in an old bottle. Old printing Rx. Help. ## Possibly a darvon compound-propoxyphene that's no longer sold in the US. ## Please throw these pills away. Medication deteriorates with time. Some meds become poisonous. Powder them with a hammer, mix with dirt, put into trash. DO NOT TRY THEM !!!

I took a Talwin NX about 2 to 3 hours ago. Its not working, so I was going to take a Norco. How long should I wait to take it? ## Is the prescription drug Talacen still being manufactured? ## @Shasta (original poster), According to the fda, the average half life of Pentazocine is 3.6 hours and about 1 hour for Nalaxone (the two active ingredients in Talwin Nx). I don't know if the dosing effects of this drug are cumulative, but based on the half life alone it seems to me that you wouldn't have to wait more than a few days depending on how much you took and how frequently you've taken it. Drug interaction checkers from the University of Maryland don't recommend using Talwin Nx with Norco unless your doctor is able to change the dose and/or how often you use either medicat...

Anyone use this for chronic pain? How is it compared to meperidine (demerol)? I used to use an electric wheelchair. Nerves pinching off in neck etc. hands drew up.. Through faith & devotion to God (daily) & finding good Doctors (myopractors, accupuncturists, some kinesiologists& chiros) using Zanaflex for spasms & demerol (mild dosage) for pain I am making tremendous strides & there is no crazy high feeling. I can function & get about now fairly well w/ only a cane & daily devotion to the Lord & simple isometrics. Good Luck & God Bless your healing ## Was able to dig up some information from the manufacturer's label for Talwin Nx (Pentazocine + Naloxone). Talwin is a potent analgesic and 30 mg is usually as effective an analgesic as morphine 10 mg...

I have some Talwin that I started taking for back pain and they seem to work really well. They are made by Winthrop, yellow with a w on one side and wt 51 on the other. Prescription dated 1994. Do you think taking these can do any harm? ## Talwin contains Pentazocine, and Naloxone, it is used to treat pain, and to prevent the abuse of other medications, while someone is being treated with it. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming, and it may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. But at 20 years, while they aren't dangerous, they will likely not still be effective, so it would be best to dispose of them, and see your doctor for a new prescription, if needed. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have been on suboxone for 2 years now for opioid dependency . Yesterday I saw an oral surgeon who pulled my bottom teeth for dentures. The surgeon peracribed talwin for the pain. Will this have any side affects taken with my suboxone, and or will it even work. I'm afraid I'll be sent into withdrawals or still be in pain. Please respond as soon as possible im in a lot of pain and Motrin is not working. ## Hello, Meagan! How are you feeling? No, the Naloxone in the Suboxone will most likely block the Talwin from working. Ideally, he should have had you stop the Suboxone for a few days, before doing the extractions. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsin...

What pharmacys carry talwin. And what manufacture is making it now. Also Talacin same who carries it and what pharmacys ## I'm sorry, but we have no way of knowing what pharmacy has any given medication in stock, at any given time. That information can be very dynamic and would be difficult to keep track of, anyway. Have you tried checking with your various local pharmacies to see where you can get it filled? ## I guess my question should have been , is Talwin still being produced, and if so what company/ companies produce it. My husband had been taking it for 25yrs then was told it wasn't available anymore. There is no other med that he responds to as good as he responded to Talwin. ## It appears that the regular Talwin, which just contains the Pentazocine, without any other in...

What prescription drug can I take other than Talwin NX but is equivalant?? ## Hello, Diana! How are you? Are you having a problem with the Talwin NX? Suboxone is similar, though it's most commonly used to treat drug addiction, but it contains the narcotic Buprenorphine coupled with Naloxone. The FDA lists this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. It also carries the risk of being habit forming. Does anyone know of any other options? ## Verwon. I am doing alright. I have serious problems taking "HEAVY DUTY" drugs. I heard Talwin NX was being discontinued. My doctor put me on Norco. Whoa! The games began. Seriously allergic to it. Had ...
