I have enough 800/160 Sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim tablets for a course, but they are 2 years beyond their use-by date. Will they still be effective? ## This medication does lose efficacy, once expired, so it would be best to dispose of it and see your doctor for a new prescription, if you have an infection requiring an antibiotic, as directed by the FDA. my 2 year old has been taking 1tsp twice daily for the past 3 days for a nonvenomous spider bite and suddenly today she developed a red flat rash on her arms and legs that is warm to touch. ## Hi Dana, Based on my research, your child is most likely having a potentially serious allergic reaction to the medication.
