I was prescribed seroquel xr only for sleep 150 mg for about 3 to 4 years. Gained about 30 lbs Read on other forums there is no hope getting the weight off when you wean off the drug. Well not true for me anyway. I have been off for 3 months and have lost 16 lbs so far and not dieting. I am taking Seroquel for a depressive episode that began almost three months ago, gradually increasing the dosage until I have now been at 150 mg. Seroquel xr for the past 24 days. Throughout this time I have suffered severe hangovers from the Seroquel (drowsiness, severe headache, lack of energy). My psychiatrist tells me that these side effects will lessen or disappear as I build up my tolerance to the drug, but now I've gone 24 days without increasing the dosage and the side effects continue. I am taking solely Seroquel xr (not ir) and try to take it as early in the evening as possible, usually anytime from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Do these side effects disappear eventually at the 150 mg. dosage or should I begin tapering off this drug? I've been taking seroquel xr 200mg x 2 a day. I've been taking it for a year and a half now and I'm wanting to have a baby but I'm scared to death of the withdrawals. I've read some scary stories as well as dangers of the drug I wasn't aware of. Any advise/suggestions? ## Hello, Niki! How are you? I would suggest consulting your doctor. They will be able to help you with a proper and safe way to taper off of the medication, before you become pregnant. That would be far better than trying to get ideas on internet. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I've tried to taper off with my doctors approval but I was got so sick after changing the dosage one time. I was hoping there may be a vitamin or a supplement to help with the withdrawals.

My Dr. started me at 300mg on Seroquel is this a safe dose. Im scared to take it. ## I have read that seroquel can be prescribed for up to 600 mg but I have never heard of 300 to start. My pdoc started me at 50mg for two nights, then Im supposed to increase it by 50mg every two nights until we get to 200 mg. Im a 5ft 5 1/2inc woman who weighs 130. Maybe the dosage is depending on your weight- I don't know. ## No. Seroquel, Seroquel XR and other meds have a dose schedule. Look for "prescribing info" from the manufacturer. For Seroquel XR the dose info is clear. The 1st day you take a low dose (50mg). Increase dosage each day. On day 4 take 300mg . If you miss a few days, lower your dose and start over. Take the smallest dose that works or do not take an Antipsychotic.

I suffer from major depression disorder and cymbalta 60 mg was not enough to take care of it. Then my doctor prescribe me resperidone 2 mg as a Add on treatment. Then she increased the reperidone it to 4 mg then week later took me of the resperidone and switch me to seroquel 200 mg then she switched the dose to 300 mg but when she sent the prescription to the pharmacy she sent the seroquel XR 300 mg. I made a mistake for the first week I was on seroquel I took both seroquel and resperidone together which seem to work but when worked better then when I took together. My doc is about to change me from SEROQUEL to ABILIFY. I want to know if I am doing the right thing. Seroquel has been the main cause for my weight gain and my doc believes that Abilify is weight neutral. I also take Wellbutrin and Ritalin 20mg xr. She has also suggested Topamax. I have been prescribed Remeron 15mg and Klonopin 0.5 for anxiety and lack of sleep. After 40 days I still have too much anxiety and racing thoughts to fall asleep, and I've gained no weight. So my Dr put me on Seroquel XR 150 mg one week ago (Aug 14) and will be able to fill a new Rx for Ativan to try on Aug 30 once the Klonopin Rx is "completed".
