Can I take Septra while on Eliquis? I have been on Eliquis for six months. I take 2.5 mg Eliquis twice a day. I have the flu bug now & my doctor put me on Septra. Is there a problem taking this antibiotic while taking Eliquis? ## I didn't find any problems or interactions listed, but Septra is an antibiotic that is used to treat, or prevent bacterial infections. It will not do anything to treat the flu, since it is caused by a virus. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, diarrhea, non-allergic skin rash, and headache. Are you feeling any better?

I have a infected gum area due to having a tooth pulled can i take septra ds for this ## I also have an infection from a tooth pulled can I take septrads ## It is best not to try to diagnose and self treat, you should speak to your dentist and he will be able to prescribe the best antibiotic to treat your problem. Some antibiotics work better than others for certain conditions and due to drug resistance, you shouldn't try to diagnose and take something you have left over from a different condition.

I recently had a d&c and was given Septra after my surgery for a UTI (that I didn't end up having). That entire week I had symptoms that I thought was just from anesthesia recovery: stiff neck, sore joints, sore muscles. By day 7 of Septra, I broke out in a rash, it was flat red blotches, pin size and needle feeling all over and burning. I was told to stop the drug and given prednisone and Benadryl and zantac. After the prednisone was gone, the burning was back so they put me on Medrol dose pack for 6 days. My face would flare a little here and there but not bad. Yesterday was my last medrol pill and that evening it came back. My skin tints red, you can't notice if I don't mention it. But it feels like a sunburn on my body and face. It's been 12 days since stopping S...

My 10 year old daughter has frequent UTIs. Even after giving her antibiotics and after doing culture tests, now the doctor prescribed Septran suspension 5 ml daily for 1 year. Is there any side effect to my child for giving Septran for one year? ## Has your daughter been tested for vesico-ureteral reflux? A condition where urine from the bladder is pushed back thru the ureters into the kidney during urination. The bladder never completely empties due to a defect in the valve between bladder and ureter. The residual urine gives bacteria a chance to multiply causing chronic UTI's. I was told by a pediatric nephrologist when my daughter was diagnosed at age two that this is condition primarily affects girls and is one of the main causes if chronic UTI's in children. ## Yes,vesico-u...

Hello there, my name is Stacey I'm from Florida. My reason for messaging is I saw you helping the others seeking help. Since it was the weekend I wanted to ask if septra will help my tooth which has started hurting. Its been broke for quite some time now. I don't want it to get worse. Please help me. ## Hello, Stacey! How are you? Yes, it is the same as Bactrim and it will only help if the tooth is infected, since it is an antibiotic. It may also cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. However, it will not fix the fact that the tooth is broken, so the infection will keep returning, until you see your dentist and have the issue corrected. Is there anything else I can help with?

Hello,I have gone to the doctore today and she wants me to start this medication,I am kinda worried from what I have been reading about this medication ,I have never taken this before,I am taking it for a sist behind my ear.Should I ask my doctor for a different medication? ## NO THERE IS NO NEED TO ASK TO DOCTOR TO CHANGE YOUR DRUG BECOZ YOUR DRUGS PRESCRIBTION INDICATES YOU HAVE A INFECTION INSIDE YOUR EARS .THIS MEDICINE COMPLETLY CURES YOU FROM THIS INFECTION. ## Your doctor prescribed this medication because the benefits outweigh the risks (as with all medication). A cyst behind your ear can be potentially dangerous because of the infection's proximity to your brain. Take the meds, watch for reactions and if it does not start to get better call your doctor. Make sure you drink ...

When SMZ/TMP-Bactrim-Septra is used to treat a sinus infection, is it the normal practice for the provider to prescribe a loading dose for the initial dose because of the longer half-life? ## Hello, Scott! How are you? No, usually you just start and continue it at once steady dose for the duration. Did your doctor provide you different instructions? The FDA classifies this medication as an antibiotic and its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, headache, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

May I take this drug for flu-like symtoms (i.e. nasal congestion, sore throat, runny nose)? ## Hello, Tyler! How are you? No, Septra will not do anything to treat cold or flu symptoms. It is an antibiotic that is only effective at treating bacterial infections, but cold or flu are caused by viruses. Taking it, when it isn't appropriate, creates the risk of your developing antibiotic resistant bacteria, which could put you at serious risk, if you need to treat an infection in the future. Side effects to this medication may cause nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. According to the NIH, there are currently four drugs available to treat the flu, which your doctor can prescribe, if necessary. However, in most cases, it is simply best to let it runs its cour...

I chipped one of my back molars and a few days later I woke up with a swollen face and tooth pain, so I immediately went to an urgent care clinic and was examined by a doctor. The doctor prescribed me hydrocodone for the tooth pain and Septra DS for the infection in the tooth, and the next day I got into to see my dentist for X-ray and exam. Afterward, I explained to my dentist everything I mentioned above about seeing an Urgent Care clinic and what I was prescribed. My dentist confirmed with me that the antibiotic Septra was fine to take for my tooth infection. However, I am now doing research on the internet about what doctors/dentists typically prescribe for a tooth abscess and all the results is showing amoxicillin and other types of penicillin as a first choice antibiotic, so now I...

I have a abcess tooth which one is best cipro septra or keflex? ## Hi Brenda, From what I could gather, Ciprofloxacin is not commonly prescribed for dental infections. So it's probably not the best choice as a first line treatment option.. Septra and Keflex on the other hand, are more commonly prescribed by dentists for tooth and other mouth related infections, due to their broader spectrum. You may want to talk with your doctor about either one of those last two options to see what works best. Sometimes the right decision has to come from trial and error, depending on how your body reacts to each medication. Have you taken either of these medications in the past?
