Large oblong white pill with the number 500 on one side the name relafen on the other. ## This should be a 500 mg pill of Relafen, as indicated by the name on the pill. Good question though, because usually pills do not have the full name inscribed on them, it just happened to be that way with this one. Do you have any other questions or information to add? Please post back if you do...

I was on Vioxx for 4 years, it worked for my knees. Then they pulled it off the market. I was prescribed 1000 mg of Relafen. After a week or so I got severe stomach pain and ultimately went into kidney failure. Is this a common side effect? ## It is listed as being a very rare possible side effect of Relafen, it has happened in less than 0.01% of people that have taken it, according to FDA reports. REF: MedLine Plus Nabumetone Other side effects may include nausea, headache, stomach irritation, and liver damage. Is that the only medication you were taking? Have they definitively attributed it to the medication?

white oblong tablet ## NABUMETONE (Relafen®) is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It helps relieve pain and inflammation associated with rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. Generic nabumetone tablets are available. ## The tablet with this marking was manufactured by Sandoz Pharmaceuticals, and given the limited information I can find on it, I am not sure it is still available. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and increased risk of bleeding. The name brand has been discontinued, I do have confirmation of that. Does anyone else know more?

I have pelvic pain from a fibroid and was given relafen(nabutatone). Aleve isn't helping can I take my script too? ## Hi Keli, From what I can tell, there are no drug interactions listed online between Aleve (Naproxen) and Relafen (Nabumetone), so to the best of my knowledge I don't see why it wouldn't be ok to take the two together. However, this shouldn't be mistaken for medical advice as I am not a doctor. So if you do experience any side effects, god forbid, it may be best to seek medical attention to rule out the possibility of interactions vs normal side effects from either medication. I hope this helps!

I know Nabumetone has been developed by Beecham and it's available under numerous brand names, such as Relafen, Relifex, and Gambaran but none of these are available through my patient assistance program. Please list all available name brands that you know of so that I can see if I can get a refill of my prescription. ## Hi Sandra, According to nih.gov, brand name Relafen is no longer on the market. However they go on to note that "generic alternatives may be available" - So I'm thinking it might just be a good idea to talk with your doctor about a generic option if that's the only thing available. The information on Relafen's availability was said to be last reviewed/officially verified by nih.gov back on 09/01/2010 (with no recent updates on their website of an...
