Barium sulfate (or sulphate) is the inorganic compound with the chemical formula BaSO4. It is a white crystalline solid that is odorless and insoluble in water. The white opaque appearance and its high density are exploited in its main applications.[4] Contents 1 Uses 1.1 Drilling fluids 1.2 Radiocontrast agent 1.3 Pigment 1.4 Heat-reflecting paint 1.5 Paper brigh...

Our 13 year old Maine Coon mix is in the last stages of renal failure. We didn't know anything was wrong until about a month ago when she stopped eating. It's been up and down ever since her diagnosis. Our vet prescribed Mirtazapine but, after reading the many negative comments, we put off giving it to her as long as we could. We finally had to because the effects of not eating in cats are liver shutdown and death. She's had no serious adverse reaction to Mirtazapine, and it has definitely helped her appetite. It is buying her a little more quality time with us. I certainly wouldn't use or give this drug lightly, but as some posters have noted, in the end it's a risk v.s benefit judgment call. ## I am very sorry to read of what you are going through. I am not very kn...

Ive am a recent user of Mirtezepine and have only been on them 5wks. They have made me sleep up to 12hrs a day for the 1st 2wks,e to take a Diazepan to kick my sleep in . They did calm me down within 1hr of taking them as I was having thoughts of impending doom , death & suicidal thoughts all the time .I have a job getting up and only do when I feel ready to , which could be anytime. After reading all the things about them I am reluctant to carry on taking them and will have to discuss this with my Dr when I see her next. Does anyone know what category of antidepressants they come into .. ## Mirtazapine is a tetracyclic antidepressant and yes, the drowsiness and fatigue can be normal side effects, however, they should wear off after 4 to 6 weeks, once your body adjusts to the medica...

hi, recent was diaginised with high bp 170/100, and doc is suggest revelol am 50/5 in morning olvance 40mg in afternoon and catapres 150 mg + rosavel 10mg for night, i am taking this for the past 4weeks and the bp fluctuates between 145/95 to 160/100, want to know how effective this medication would be, catapres makes me sleepy ## Have you consulted your doctor? Most medications usually reach their effectiveness around 4 to 6 weeks of use, so if you have been taking them for that long and are still getting high readings, you may need a dosage adjustment or you might have to try something else. While they have all been proven effective, there is no way to say whether or not any given medication is going to be effective for any given person that tries it. They can all effect everyone diff...

round white pill with C20 stamped on one side, and scored with an x on the other side ## I am sorry, I am not finding this listed anywhere. The only thing coming up under this imprint is Cialis, but it does not match this description. What country are you in? It is possible that it is something available over the counter or a foreign medication. Does anyone else know what this is? ## Thank you to the original poster for writing in and letting us know that this pill was found in Canada. That said, finding a positive ID is proving to be a challenge. The reason is because drug inscriptions from outside the United States do not appear to be cataloged and readily published as they are with the FDA here in the U.S. One possibility is that it could be a chewable pill containing Amoxicillin 200...

Do you keep your diet as low in fats and sugars as possible?

Hello. We are on vacation visiting beautiful panama beach Florida and my husband's blood pressure has gotten as high as 203/110. He was on lisinopril 10mg ER and took a CT head that came back negative. My concern is that his BP is still remaining around 150/98. We just want to make it home to follow up but these blood pressure readings are really scaring me. We also started an 81 mg Aspirin. What else can we do? Should we take both BP pills? ## I am not any type of health pro or in any field, but my husband's cardiologist has him on metoprolol 25mg, atrovastatin 10mg, amlodipine 10mg, lisinopril 5mg with/and aspirin 81mg. So personally I think your safe for now. I am doing research on these meds because he never needed any of this prior to catching the H1N2 virus back in Dec. Of...

I went to the doctor with a blood pressure reading of 161/102 so she put me on lisinopril-hctz 10mg. My BP dropped within 30 minutes to 83/60 after just 1 dose. It has been 3 days now and my BP hovers between 83/60 and 111/63. I'm now a bit concerned because my BP is usually 134/90-140/95 (sometimes higher) and this just seems a bit low. Is this normal after just 1 dose? ## Hello, Cattz! How are you? While the 134 and 140 are not dangerous numbers, the 90 and 95 are concerning, normal is considered a systolic of 120 or less, and a diastolic of 80 or less and it should be treated to lower it to more normal and safer levels. As to the Lisinopril/HCTZ, no that is not normal after just one dose. But what I'm wondering is if the 161/102 reading was just a temporary elevation due some...

I stopped taking after 12 days and on the last day my feces turned white. They are still white 10 days later with severe itching and dark urine. Went to ER for cat scan and all is normal except elevated liver functions. GI doctor says this reaction can last a very long time. Any advice? ## Hi Marsha, What medication are taking? If you post back and let me know, I 'll definitely be able to help you find the answer to your question. Thank you! ## amox clav 875. Took for 10 days and effects are worsening 10 days later. Dark urine, itchiness and white stools started after I took the last pill. Liver readings are elevated.

I am 54 years old which I am told is fairly young for this situation. I also had Lasik surgery 10 years ago and my vision was perfect for distance. I was only beginning to need reading glasses. It was very difficult to accept the changes that started occurring in my right eye especially since my vision was so great beforehand. I had surgery (vitrectomy) for a macular hole in Jan of 2014. The surgery was successful but I did develop a cataract very quickly which almost always happens after this surgery. Much to my dismay, the same situation presented in my left eye in Dec of 2014. I knew immediately what was going on so I made an appointment with my surgeon. We decided to try the injection this time since my hole was very small and he figured it was a 50/50 chance in my case. I had the i...

It seems to me that Mirtazapine is a potentially dangerous drug with little information known about it. My veterinarian prescribed this drug in small quantities for my cat as an appetite stimulant, so I began reading articles on the drug and its effects. Although it is supposed to be used as an antidepressant for humans, it has a wide reputation for causing suicidal tendencies in children and young adults. It causes weight gain (the side effect my vet was looking for in my cat's case). It also can cause feelings of depression, and wooziness. I spoke with a nurse who took it and she said the effects of sluggishness and dizziness lasted 2 to 3 days. It can also cause nausea and headaches. It seems to me that these side effects are anything but what a person who is already depressed sh...

My MD started me on Lexapro a little more than a month ago. Started at 5 mg and I got such paranoia that I quit. On follow-up exam he suggested 2.5 mg and I've been doing that for about 3 weeks. Today I upped it to 5 mg. He was talking as high as 40 mg. I see no reason for anyone taking that amount especially with what I'm reading about rats coming down with retinal degeneration and adrenal failure, plus all the symptoms that come from withdrawals. I will stop at 10 mgs. I don't have social anxiety, I have a problem with motivation which I guess stems from some type of depression. ## My heel hurt so back got ## Hello, CatAddict! How are you? I saw a doctor today for a cat bite. He is starting me on amox clav 875 mg. After reading about it, I'm afraid to start it. I already have chronic diarrhea, and don't know what it will do to me. Does anybody actually take it and not have awful side effects? ## It's basically Amoxicillin, an antibiotic. Have had to take it several times and I never got side effects. Do you know the cat that bit you? Is it a bad bite? ## The cat is mine. She got really freaked out and bit when I picked her up. It was about a week ago and is sore and swollen. I know there is something else with the amoxicillin. Read such awful side effects ## Hello, Deb! How are you? Along with the Amoxicillin is Clavulanic Acid, to enhance the way it works and make it more effective. And the side effects, incl...

I've taken subutex for a long time know for chronic pain, in my opinion it's been awesome. I just had surgery. My surgeon was very forthcoming about everything. My issue now is can I go back to subutex after my last dousing of oxycodone 20s and 20s timed released. I've done it before but opposite, like when I was on subutex I had taken oxycodone but im freaking myself out because of everything I'm reading... every one makes it seem completely different.... It's not suboxone.... it's subutex. It really bothers me when people put it in same category, they assume it's the same. But I have way to many stitches to be throwing up.. ## Hello, Shay! How are you? Subutex contains Buprenorphine, which can also block other opiates from working or throw someone into prec...

I have been on suboxone for 8 years now. B 4 that, I was on methadone for almost 5 years. I had a lot of surgeries and have a lot of medical problems. I was on pain management (opiates) for 10 years and became an addict. I'm afraid if I get off the suboxone I'll b back on opiates. Due 2 the pain I suffer. How long can I stay on suboxone. Has anybody else been on it 4 a long time? I just don't want 2 b back 2 where I was or go through what I did ever again. ## Hi Cats, Thanks for sharing your story, and sorry to hear about your situation. While there is no single right answer for how long you should be on Suboxone for, this is usually determined on an individual basis in consultation with a knowledgeable doctor. From what I've been reading online, Suboxone tends to work b...

I need to find a doctor in Clay City, In. that will prescribe percocet. ## Why do people need Percocet/oxycodone? I have been reading a lot of posts and I see people Dr. shopping. In order to get pain meds/narcotics/controlled substances, you must go to a licensed Pain Clinic. You have to sign a pain contract, take a U/A every two months and can only get your pain meds from your Pain Clinic. Family doctors, family medical practices and even Sports medicine Centers as well only prescribed Percocet for a very short period of time. An example is when I get a tooth pulled I get 17 Percocet which is enough to last for five days and then your tooth should be healed. I don’t suggest that you keep Dr. shopping because it will catch up with you. What I’m suggesting for these people t...

I take 150 mg of Lyrica per day for neuropathy. Can this cause a false positive for methamphetamine in a mouth swab? ## Hi Jenny, To my understanding Lyrica (Pregabalin) isn't chemically related to methamphetamine at all. They are categorized into two separate drug classifications, induce different effects and have different pharmacology altogether. Seldom do I even hear of them both being used in the same paragraph. Lol.... If you took Lyrica and got a reading for methamphetamine, the only thing I could suspect is that the drug panel was faulty/inaccurate by design. My thoughts are, if you were able to take a Liquid Chromatography Tandem Mass Spectrometry (LC/MS/MS) analysis on the same day as the mouth swab, it's pin point accuracy would've proved whether the mouth swab wa...
