Protonix Pantoprazole

Pantoprazole, sold under the brand name Protonix, among others, is a proton pump inhibitor used for the treatment of stomach ulcers, short-term treatment of erosive esophagitis due to gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), maintenance of healing of erosive esophagitis, and pathological hypersecretory conditions including Zollinger–Ellison syndrome.[4] It may also be used along with other medications to eliminate Helicobacter pylori.[5] Effectiveness is s...

i have been taking wockha protonix 40 for a number of years. I just picked up my prescription and the pills look a darker than usual....they say w434 on them....i have been having stomach problems since i started on the latest batch of pills. has wockha made any changes? ## HI, Cindy! Sorry about the problem you're having. I am not aware of any changes having been made to them and nothing is listed in the databases at this time. But the issue might really be that your body has just gotten used to them, so they are no longer working as well for you. Why have you been on them for so long? These are usually just used for short-term treatment, since there are risks associated with long-term use, such as hip fractures.

I am allergic to Yellow #5 which is used to enhance the appearance of products (mainly food) and causes me to have migraines. Is Yellow 5 in Protonix? I took one at midnight and got an occular migraine at 8:45 this morning. I tried to Google it but got nowhere. Thank you. ## No, there isn't any listed in the inactive ingredients for the name brand. They are listed as being: calcium stearate, crospovidone, hypromellose, iron oxide, mannitol, methacrylic acid copolymer, polysorbate 80, povidone, propylene glycol, sodium carbonate, sodium lauryl sulfate, titanium dioxide and triethyl citrate. However, these are only relevant to the name brand. Is that what you are taking? If you are taking the generic Pantoprazole, please post back with more information, such as the manufacture, or the...

Ive been on protonix for a year now n was wondwering if i could take lipozene with it. Ive taken lipozene years ago with great results. ## Hello, John! How are you? Unfortunately, over the counter natural products such as Lipozene are not tested for possible interactions with prescription medications. Have you tried asking your pharmacist? They may know more. I'll do some digging around and post back, when I find information for you.

Hi, I'm Curious About Protonix. Ive Been On It For 10 Years Now... Was on it to heal an ulcer in my stomach. I've continued to take them after the 8 week course because it got rid of my very severe heartburn. Is this safe? I only take one early each morning - I NEVER have any heartburn or affects, so I think...any ideas? ## Have you consulted your doctor? These have only been studied for short-term use, from 8 to 16 weeks, to treat or prevent condition such as ulcers, heartburn, GERD and gastritis. There have been no studies done to evaluate their long-term effects, if any. ## Thank you on that reply. I noticed this during some early reading up on the medicine

I have been on the name brand of Protonix since 2000 and it has worked great. My problem started when the generic became available and my insurance company would no longer cover the brand name. The generic medication didn't work at all. I thought it was me, that I became resistant to it. But after talking to the Pfizer nurse (their US Drug Safety Unit) I was told there are bad generic versions of Protonix on the market. I was able to get my insurance company to cover the brand name up until last September 2016. Now they refuse to cover it. There are approximately 17 different generic manufacturers I found on the internet. Has anybody had a generic version of protonix that worked as well as the name brand one? The manufacturer name should be somewhere on your medication bottle. If yo...

Been on Protonix/Pantoprazole for a few years. Pill appearance often changes from oblong tan color, round tan color and now white oblong. What is up with that? Any change to effectiveness, complications? ## Well, I can't really tell you anything about them, without knowing the specific markings on them, however, what is most likely happening is that they are just manufactured by different companies. Most pharmacies will order from whatever company is offering the cheapest price, when they need to restock. This is how they keep their prices as low as possible for uninsured customers. The medication remains the same, it's just the appearance that's different. Have you tried asking your pharmacist? ## Pharmacy person stated that although the color was different because they pur...

oval and yellow ## Did you possibly mean Protonix? It contains the active ingredient Pantoprazole, it is used to help reduce the amount of acid produced by your stomach to treat, or prevent, conditions such as heart burn, gastritis, ulcers, and heart burn. Can you please post back and clarify?

It is not nexium, it's one generic for protonix. its made by another manufacturer, and beware it's not as effective as protonix, but fda says its eqivilent to protonix, which is brand name. the one you described is made by sunpharma. nexium and protonix are brand names and both work for me, but each is a different medication. ## There are actually severally manufacturers of the generic version and there can be differences between them, so one may not work as well for you as another. If you are getting them by prescription, from your pharmacy, you can ask them if they can order in the one that works best for you, or try a different pharmacy. Are there any questions or comments?

Gabapentin 300 mg.cap, Protonix 40 mg.Tab., Amitiza 24 MCG cap, Zegerid 40-1100 Cap, MRI with Contrast ## Gabapentin aka neurontin controls seizures, assists with sleep. I take 800 each night with 12.5 zolpidem which is time released. Ive never slept so well. ## Of the medications you listed, Gabapentin, Protonix, and the contrast medium have all been known to have detrimental effects on the kidney, though such occurrences are very rare. How severe is it, and what treatment options has your doctor suggested? Do you have high blood pressure, or a cardiac condition?

Can Fosamax be taken in the evening - 1 hr before bed? I am taking protonix every morning 1 hr before breakfast, and would not feel well all day if I didn't. So the question is, can I take Fosamax later on after breakfast and before lunch, or between lunch and dinner, or even after dinner, 30-60 minutes before going to bed? ## Hello, Frumu! How are you? No, for Fosomax to be effective, the FDA directions say it must be taken upon arising in the morning, at least half an hour before having any other food, beverage or medication, other than plain water. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, abdominal pain, skin rash and chest pain. Is there anything else I can help with?

Does anybody know what meds should not be taken with Trelegy Ellipta? I take Toprol-XL, Norvasc, Protonix, Xarelto, Proair inhaler, Ipratr Albuterol in Nebulizer, Flonase spray, Levothyroxine, and Vitamin D-2. ## Hello Beverly, I hope you are having a pleasant day. Using the UCLA health organization's drug interaction checker I did not find any reactions between the Trelegy ellipta and any of the other medications you listed. I have provided a link below to the drug interaction checker tool in case you would like to look up any of the other drugs/vitamins you listed. I have found this tool to be extremely useful as it shows you interactions with foods as well as other drugs which sometimes people may overlook. lexapro and Fanapt taken together along with ambien, ,lorazapam, topamax, estra test, furosemide, protonix, busbar what are the effects of thses medications taken together ## Hi Christina, I hate to say it, but just about every medication you mentioned has a potentially dangerous or life threatening interaction of some kind with one another. The worst of these interactions however, lie between Topamax and Fanapt; and Buspar and Lexapro; where as you are at greater risk of serotonin syndrome, oligohidrosis and hyperthermia. Have you considered trying to replace any of these medications with something safer and more natural? I can suggest a few alternatives if you're open to the idea of it.

I have not been able to find a medicine that helps with what my doctor thinks is Gerd. The last medicine was protonix and within 21/2 weeks I am having side effects. Ankles are spasming as well as hands however I have spondilosis. I have never had spasms in these areas until protonix and I still have food that gets stuck and continuous hiccups. My doctor put me on 400 mgs of magnesium. Any answers or opinions? ## Hello, JLM! How are you doing? It isn't actually that food gets stuck, though it does feel like it. It's esophageal erosion and irritation there. Sometimes you swallow something that irritates it and gets it acting up, so it feels like there is a lump there, but there actually isn't. And yes, that is a sign of GERD. What other medications have you tried? I had many ...

My new prescription of Pantoprazol Sod has a different number imprinted on the yellow oval tablet. Instead of P40 it is MP9. This is a proton pump inhibitor used to treat or prevent conditions, such as ulcers, heartburn, gastritis and GERD and its side effects may include nausea, dizziness, stomach pain and flatulence. Learn more: Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thank you so much for your reply. I get concerned when my medication looks different. ## Deb, you're very welcome. Everytime I take one I get a pain in my left kidney which worries me. ## This is to the person who gets a pain in her left kidney when she takes a protonix pill. I can relate to that. I was prescribed 2 pills a day for the last 5 years or so until 2 wks. ago and the doctor told me to only take 1 pill from now on because it will wreck your kidneys. My kidneys are already wrecked. ## Wow, i have been having kidney pain and it never occurred to me it could be from the Protonix!
