Does anyone notice acute side pain while taking this? Right side. Didn't notice pain when not taking it , but have taken it steady for a week and my side hurts . Weird side effect or something else? Have had this pain before and been on prometrium for about. 3 years ## It is hard to say what could cause such a symptom. It may be due to the Prometrium, or it could be completely unrelated. Have you consulted your doctor to have it checked out?

I have just begun the gauntlet of playing with hormones. I am one of probably many women who cannot function normally with even a slight variation of hormone levels. I am afraid to take this medicine because no one knows what my correct dosage should be. I have been to two docs already and am very discouraged. Can you Exercise on Prometrium & Lovenox? Hi! I am currently on prometrium and Estradiol. So I was wondering if it safe to exercise? I dont work since I am on this medication. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice? Thanks! ## Hello, Mary! How are you? Unless your doctor has specified otherwise, it should be fine for you to exercise. However, if you're taking Lovenox, be careful, as you can bruise much easier and, if you cut yourself, you may bleed more than usual, as reported by the FDA. I am on Vagi-Fem (25mcg vaginal cream) twice per week for vaginal dryness. I've been instructed by my new doctor to take Prometrium (100mg) for 12 days every other month to make sure my endometrium is not thickening. I have not heard of this type of hormone replacement therapy before. I am post-menopause 12 years now. Is this a new therapy? What are the benefits/side effects? ## Prometrium has been on the market since 1998, it contains Progesterone. So, it is not really new. Could prometrium capsules (100 mg) be cut and applied directly on the skin instead of taking them orally? ## You should take them as instructed by your doctor, if they've said to take them orally, you should do so. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, spotting, irritability, and PMS-like symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with?

Is there a lower dose than 100 mg of Prometrium? ## Hi Kathryn, From what I could gather, 100mg is the lowest dose available... I just read an article saying that Prometrium Capsules are available in multiple strengths to afford dosage flexibility for optimum management; however, these Prometrium Capsules are only noted to contain 100 mg or 200 mg micronized progesterone (Which tells me that they do not in-fact offer it in "multiple strengths"; but rather, just a couple unfortunately). I have been prescribed Minivelle 0.05mg/24 hr transdermal patches along with Prometrium 100 mg. Has anyone else taken this combination and found relief from other menopausal symptoms such as hot flashes, trouble sleeping, outbursts of tears or rage? Also, will it cause weight gain or loss? I am 60 yrs old and have been menopausal 2 yrs. A hysterosonography Aug. 7, 2013 revealed I have hyperplasia (thickened uterus wall). I had 2 days very light spotting in June and I am scheduled for a DNC in mid November. My Dr. prescribed Progesterone to take orally 1 per day. Last month my cycle was thrown completely off, I started AF exactly one week before it was due and it lasted nearly 10 days. I went to the doctor and I got blood work done and a vaginal ultrasound. Everything was ok, except that the lining of my uterus was super thin. She prescribed me Prometrium to take daily before bed time. The first day or so wasn't bad. I am now on day 9 of taking this medication and I'm curious about a few things. First, I know that Prometrium can cause bloating and cramping, but I'm getting very sharp pains when I have to urinate or go number 2. I just turned 50; been having terrible night sweats for past 3-5 years. Last year I had a uterine ablation/removal of polyps, so have not had my period for almost a year (yeah!). However I am probably periodically ovulating. More recently have been having waves of panic. My obgyn put me on estrogel (1pump at night) and prometrium 10 days ago. She said If I still have night sweats after 1 week, take 2 pumps of the estrogel. My question are 1) is it normal to have abdominal cramping on/off while taking estrogel? and if not, should I still increase to 2 pumps since the night sweats have not changed? 2) When I had my hormone levels checked last year my estradiol was 122; is this too high to be taking estrogel?
