Procainamide (PCA) is a medication of the antiarrhythmic class used for the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias. It is classified by the Vaughan Williams classification system as class Ia; thus it is a sodium channel blocker of cardiomyocytes. Having considerable side effects while taking amidarone. Are there other medicine's that can do the same thing, but without possibly all the other side effect's. If you could give me some alternative's I would really appreciate the help. Thank You ## Hi Larry, It is important to know that all prescription drugs pose the risk of side effects. Whether or not you respond favorably to another medication is not something anyone else can determine ahead of time either, unfortunately. A few suggestions I can offer though for other similar drugs with antiarrhythmic properties are: disopyramide dofetilide dronedarone flecainide procainamide propafenone quinidine sotalol Those are just the generic names, but I hope it helps open up your options!
