I have been on pheonbarbital for 40 years, no problem 60 mg 2x a day now. I am being told its back ordered, they don't make it, they reformulated it, to 16.2, 32.4, 64.8, 97.2. I have called all the pharmacys, rite aid, walgreen, walmart, cvs, walmart, even you mail ord company can't get it as its back ordered with no release date, what are we to do, we have to have this med daily, and some pharmacist is not going to tell me that the 64.8 is the same as 60 mg that would mean I would be taking almost 9mg more than perscribed, also how can a pharmacy fill a perscription for 60mg with 64.88mg, I would think that if they were turned in they could be in trouble. Please help, thank you ## Hello, Heather! How are you? Sorry about the problem that you're having. No, that's just ...

My GI Dr had recently prescribed me Bella-Phenobarb Tab for some gastric issues i was experiencing. I never had the need to use the meds. I am now experiencing horrible cramping from menstruation. Would this medication be helpful? ## Yes, this is mainly used for gastric problems, such as IBS. IT is very doubtful that it will do much to help with the cramping. It basically works as a sedative and relaxant, though I supposed that may help a little. Have you spoken to your doctor about the cramping?

Does a ten year old pill still have any potensy ## Most likely not. Just started phenobarbital. Making me so drowsy more of a heavy wrapped in a "blanket" feeling can't get started. I also feel just medically off all day. ## Help, Jpswoman! How are you? I'm very sorry about how you're feeling. However, side effects like that are relatively normal when first starting this medication, they should improve in a few weeks, once your body gets used to it. If they don't, or if it gets severe, then you should contact your doctor. Is there anything else I can help with?

This is the 2nd month in a row I went to get a refill on a prescription and now walgreens tells me that the 64.8 mg has been discontinued by the manufacturer I need to talk to my doctor for an alternative. They were only going to give me 5 days worth of pills until I asked how many they had and said I take them all which wasn't even a months worth. So sad they couldn't call me and tell me. ## Hello Ics, According to the FDA, Phenobarbital oral solution has been discontinued by the manufacturer as of 4/5/2012. I was prescribed Myrbetriq for a spasmatic bladder, but it is not working and I stopped taking it. The pharmacist says it does not work when taking Phenobarbital and it is a waste of time. Does anyone else take these two drugs? ## There are no interactions listed, but there is no way to know how something may, or may not work, once it's outside of controlled studies and out in real world use. The typical side effects that the FDA lists may include nausea, dizziness, headache, urinary retention, and blurred vision. How long were you taking it? Have you tried any other medications? ## I ONLY TOOK IT FOR 3 WEEKS AND IT DID NOTHING. STILL WENT TO BATHROOM ABOUT 5 TIMES AT NIGHT. This stuff is impossible to find yet there are much stronger meds available. This is great for uncomfortable muscle spasms say if you're weaning off opiates - the belladonna at health food stores is not the same obviously. Donnatal is great for that too. Anyway, closest thing I've found is bentyl but it's not as helpful for all over discomfort - just stomach trouble when weaning - cold turkey you'll want clonidine too (aka catpres), something to allow you to sleep (God knows you can't sleep getting off stuff) - the more you sleep, the more time passes - but you can't sleep when you're stomach is A MESS, pains etc. And the all over body crawly antsy - can't explain unless you've been through - it'll make someone crazy! Depression follows and anyone...

My fiance has been prescribed this drug for a digestive problem. Lately all she does is sleep. She has almost slept for 72 hours straight. When she does get up she has no energy, tires very fast and has to go back to sleep. Could this drug be having adverse effects on her and causing these symptoms? ## Yes, such things are possible with any medication. Has she contacted her doctor? The Phenobarbital in this is a Barbiturate and if it is causing her to sleep that much and that long, then it is probably not the right medication for her to use, or she may require a lower dosage. ## Did you read the paperwork? It should tell you what it does.
