Docusate is the common chemical and pharmaceutical name of the anion bis(2-ethylhexyl) sulfosuccinate, also commonly called dioctyl sulfosuccinate (DOSS).[2][3][4] It is on the World Health Organization's List of Essential Medicines.[5] Salts of this anion, especially docusate sodium, are widely used in medicine as laxatives and as stool softeners, by mouth or rectally.[1] In 2019, it was the 187th most commonly...

In the past I have purchased several equate brand OTC's. Recently I have found them to be either completely ineffective or reduced. Specifically their stool softener (plus stimulant laxative) comparable to Peri-Colace. Too bad, they were inexpensive. ## Hi Julie, Sorry to hear about your experience with Equate brand OTC meds not working as well as before. If you don't mind me asking, which brand have you resorted to using now? I for one find epsom salt to be an excellent stool softener, along with a number of other natural remedies (including various fruits, vegetables, and water). Any ideas on help for constipation side effect from the drug Ranexa? ## Hello, Nancy! How are you? A fiber supplement is usually the best and safest option, as long as your doctor says that it is safe for you to take one. You may also experience other side effects including nausea, dizziness, headache and stomach pain. Is there anything else I can help with? ## YES! What works great is Peri-Colace or a store brand with these two ingredients: 1. Ducosate Sodium 50mg (softening agent) *take 3 2. Sennosides 8.6mg (a stimulant) I take these with two Probiotic pills and they work better than anything else I've tried. Don't know if this works for everyone, but you will know immediately if they work. Take them before you go to bed at night and then eat breakfast. You should then know i...

no this pill is a stool softener, i own them so believe me i know. ## Thanks for sharing your finding. It's really difficult to locate over the counter medications in the drug databases, so having other users post it like this is very helpful! But would you mind providing more information on the product label itself; regarding who manufacture's this product; and what the brand name of the medication is? It always looks good to have full details posted so others can know that your information is accurate and they' aren't "just" taking your word for it. Thanks again for the help! ## This is a Dollar General health brand generic stool softener plus stimulant laxative. It is comparable to Peri -Colace. Contains Docusate Sodium 50mg and Sennosides 8.6mg. ## A friend s...
