I complained to my primary care physician that the Paxil CR (37.5 mg daily) was controlling my hyper-self-critical thoughts and general anxiety well, and that 1 mg of Lorazepam 3 times a day was controlling my panic attacks, but that over the past year, my depression has become more acute and frequent. She said she doesn't mix meds, so she prescribed Cymbalta instead of Paxil. But I wasn't given a lower dosage of Paxil to ween me off of it, lessen any withdrawal, etc. Is this normal? Is this a recommended practice? Since I made the switch (it's been since Monday), it's unbelievable but I now feel a severe general anxiety that is almost debilitating. I don't want to get up at work. I don't want to talk to anyone. I just feel like I'm in a constant state of fea...

I've been on Paxil for 1 year and am tapering off from 10 mg. I'm on week 2 and have experienced racing heart, tremors, zapping in hands, nausea. Omg! I would never recommend this drug. I'll just deal with panic attacks and my .25 Xanax. ## How much have you lowered your dose, so far? Some withdrawal effects are normal any time you lower the dosage or stop taking a medication, according to the NIH. They can occur due to stopping anything from a blood pressure medication, to a daily dose of Aspirin. Stopping your Xanax would actually be much worse, since it can be habit forming and suddenly stopping it creates the risk of seizures, as reported by the FDA. Why are you stopping the Paxil?

Started Paxil about 2 months ago and I have quickly gained 20 pounds. I can't stop eating, constantly crave sweets (as I'm eating a package of s'mores Pop Tarts). Paxil is helping me so much though, I can't decide if I should be happy (but unhappy with my body), calm, and chubby (possibly bordering on fat soon) ... or listless, socially anxious, and skinny.... just seeing if anyone else has a similar experience ## Hello, Vincent! How are you? Paxil is classified by the FDA as an SSRI and most of them are very well known to cause weight gain in people that take them. My ex-husband had the same problem, it was the only one that consistently worked for him, but it caused a lot of weight gain. Other side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache and dry mouth....

HOW DO I DETOX WITH OUT KILLING MYSELF> I DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO GO INTO A DETOX PROGRAM ## ive dealt with both of those and its hard, let me first talk about the paxil. you have two drugs and it will be two sets of symptoms. paxil worked for me at the lowest dose but did add sometimes to my mania, but there is so many reasons to get off it, It affects my left brain most creativity wich I value higher than the right. going off paxil isnt anything like the xanax, but its good news its much easier ,you should start there and dont change your xanax habbit yet. I am already taking 10 mg buspirone 2 times per day and my doc has suggested adding 0.25 mg paxil, to further help with anxiety. Is this safe? Also, please tell me the credentials of the person responding. thanks very much. ## They both can increase your serotonin levels, which can be risky, but they can be taken together, with physician approval and regular monitoring. It's also more prone to occurring with high dosages, these are both very low. BuSpar is classified by the FDA as an anxiolytic. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache and dry mouth. Paxil is classified as an SSRI antidepressant. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with?

Can you just change from one to another or do you have to cross taper the med is paxil going to luvox ## Hello, Theresa! How are you? If you've been taking it for a long time, then a cross taper/titration is usually best and what most doctors will have you do to avoid any severe withdrawal and rebound effects. Are there any other questions or concerns? ## Took it two months before that I took lexPro two months nothing worked what do u think ## can we switch from clorocef to klavox?

My Dr. would like me to switch from Paxil Cr, which I have been taking for 2 years now to Cymbalta because of the the weight gain side effect I'm having with Paxil. He said Cymbalta can have a weight loss effect for some people. I would like to hear comments from anyone that has made this particular switch and/or about weight gain/loss from using Cymbalta. Thanks so much ## I was on Zoloft for several years and developed significant weight gain, I was switched to Cybalta, in hopes that it would help with my chronic pain, as well as my depression and etc. I did start to lose the weight about a week after I started using it. Unfortunately, it did not work for me at all, for either my pain or depression, so I had to go back on the Zoloft, however, I have maintained the weight loss, eve...

Does anyone use luvox I am cross tapering from paxil to luvox please let me know if you take luvox ## Please any luvox users out there let me know your experience please ## Hi Theresa, I haven't personally used Luvox before but I can link you to a couple threads where users discuss their experiences with the medication. Discuss/restless-sleep-vivid-dreaming-fatigue-219483.htm"_blank Discuss/Comparison-of-LUVOX-CR-to-regular-Luvox-230469.htm"_blank You may want to post in both of these threads in order to get more feedback. Just be aware, everyone reacts to medication differently so even if a certain brand works wonderfully for one person and they recommend it to you, that doesn't necessarily mean it will work as great for you. I hope this helps!

I've been diagnosed Bipolar II. Am currently on, and have been for a few years, Paxil, Lamictal, risperdal and klonopin. Dr just prescribed 20mg Adderall XR cuz I've been complaining about distractibility. I've never been diagnosed with ADD. I've only been on the drug for two weeks, and after reading a bunch of stuff online, I'm scared to death of this drug. I wanna stop but I'm afraid of the crash. Will it be fairly easy since I've only been on it for two weeks? ## Hello, Deb! How are you? Yes, it will most likely be fairly easy, after such a short time, but you will still probably experience a crash. What side effects are scaring you? Perhaps those can be addressed to help you.
