I will be switching from Ms Contin to Palladone this weekend. Has anyone tried it? What are the advantages? disadvantages? over the other long term Pain meds? ## Palladone is actually considered milder than the Morphine, and Oxycodone is the strongest narcotic. So I am not sure why you are switching or if it will help you more than the morphine. ## Well the morphine is givining me violent headaces as it did in another preperation I took years ago. I can't stand methadone, taking so many pills a day and my insurance doesnt cover oxyContin at all. So being that I have had had success with dilaulidid as a good breaktrhough med my doc felt we should try it carefully as a base med.

What does the "IR" stand for located behind the word Oxycodone and in front of the dosage amount, i.e., 5 mg. When I look up he generic Oxycodone I see that it has acetiminiphine and/or NASIDS-Ibuprophine. I believe the manufacture is Palladone. Is there an Oxycodone made that has nothing in it except Oxycodone. Thanks??? ## The IR stands for immediate release, which means it's meant to release the medication, as soon as you swallow the tablet. While there are some formulations that contain Ibuprofen or Acetaminophen, this one doesn't. This one only contains Oxycodone. Is a small, thick, round pill with 2mg scored onto one side and a P over IR on the other side, a generic Dilaudid? ## You didn't specify what color your pill was, but based on the information provided, the closest match I'm finding is a description of a white oblong shaped pill imprinted with "P-XL 32mg"; which has been identified as Palladone 32 mg. If you are on a lot of narcotics, how long does it take for Peridone to work, so as not to go through the terrible withdrawals. ## Hi Liz, From what I've read, Peridone contains the active ingredient Domperidone and it is not used to treat pain. It is used to help prevent nausea and vomiting, as well as to increase intestinal motility and to promote lactation. I have an alleged 8mg hydromorphone tablet that has 54 on one side with 425 under that and scored on the other side. ## Indeed, what you have there is a relatively expensive 8mg instant release hydromorphone hydrochloride, made in US, forgive me but I have forgotten the maker. Not Abbott Dilaudid brand, which are sorta rounded triangular shape with Abbott logo obverse and large '8' reverse. As are the most excellent ones by Covidien, under their Mallinckrodt label, only difference being the logo, a capital M in a square. Have not tried your 54 425 pills but they are reputedly of highest quality. Opiates available on prescription: (all IR PO-oral): Eqivalent of 30mg oxycodone is 10-22mg hydromorphone, 80mg morphine sulphate (best brandname Sevredol one each 50-20-10mg, dipipanone (Diconal) 30mg, dextromoramide (Palfium) 30mg, heroin hydrochloride oral 25mg (but like morphine bioavailability only c.50%). Hydromorphone instant release in UK available only as Palladone (SR is heavily favoured) caps 1.3/2.6mg. I take FIVE capsules (13mg). I have tried US hydromorph by Mallinckrodt (by far best value) & Abbott (which mmy body seems to uptake a little better).
