Wanted to kno exactly what kinda birth control pill. I have it's package at 28 pills and missed a couple pills. do I continue the last 7 inactive pills? ## Those are both brand names for the same oral contraceptives, the Mononessa is just a less expensive 'generic', so to speak. Ortho Tri Cyclen was the original name brand. How many tablets did you miss and in which week? If you missed 2 or more in the 3rd week, or 3 doses any other week, you should start a new pack and use some additional method of contraception for the first 7 days, making sure not to miss any tablets. If you have a smart phone, then I recommend using on of the many free prescription reminder apps that are available to make sure you don't miss any more tablets in the future. The FDA lists the possible ...

I was just prescribed Ortho Cyclen and my doctor told me to start taking as soon as possible so I took that as in now. So i started taking it on Thursday. It was not the first day of my period, or Sunday obviously. Is there a reason they tell you to start the pack on one of those days? Did I screw up by starting it on a random day? What should I do? ## No, it is fine to start it either way. The reason the instructions with the pill tell you to start it the first day of your menstrual cycle is to try to avoid disrupting your cycle. Since you started it immediately, as per your doctor's instructions, all this means is that there will be a shorter period of time between this cycle and the next one, after that the time frame will be regular, again, as long as you continue taking it. Are...

I was on ortho prefest tabs for several yrs. for menapausal symptoms...went on nat. compound creams which are no longer working...is ortho prefest still made? ## I haven't found any information stating that Ortho-Prefest (estradiol + norgestimate) has been discontinued, so I'm led to believe that it's still readily available at your local pharmacy & with a valid prescription. Ortho-McNeil Pharmaceutical, a Johnson & Johnson company based in Raritan, New Jersey, manufactures and markets medication with the same active ingredients as Ortho-Prefest; but lists them under different names such as: Ortho Tri-cyclen LO and Ortho Evra. Maybe you can contact them for more specific details on its availability, considering that they have similar brand names: janssenpharmaceutica...

I switched from ortho cyclen to Lo Loestrin Fe because of the low dosage of estrogen, but I have not stopped spotting since I started it 2 months ago. I am now cramping as if my cycle is about to start, but I am in the middle of the pill pack! I do not know what is going on, but I will be calling my GYN next week. Does anyone know when the spotting will stop? ## Went to potty and now I am seeing blood clots! This is aweful. ## Have you contacted your doctor, yet? The spotting like this can be normal for the first 3 months that you are taking a new contraceptive pill. However, if you are finding it to be severe and it's making you miserable, you should definitely discuss it with your doctor, as it may not be the right medication for you to use.

Was just put on Tri-Lo Sprintec after being on Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo for 10 years... It says you have the option of a Sunday start date, which you start the first Sunday after you start your period unless you start your period on Sunday - in which case you take it the same day. I started my period on Sunday, but didn't pick up my prescription until Tuesday. Can I still start this coming Sunday, or do I now have to wait a month? ## Well, really if you were just switching from one prescription to another, you shouldn't have had any gap in taking it, you should have just continued with the new pill in place of the old one. Otherwise, since you've now had a gap, I am not certain if they will want you to wait a month or just start on Sunday. Have you consulted your doctor? They wil...
