Hi to all. I took Olanzapine 10mg for 6 Yrs & suffered a very strange & worrying side effect due to the Drug. After 3 Months of taking it, I literally stopped sleeping any more than 2 hours a night, characterized by no sleepiness prior to sleep onset (just blacked out) & no feelings of fatigue either physically or mentally despite days without sleep. I also had no drug effect from multiple Drugs, such as Alcohol, even after drinking 2 Litres of strong Wine, rather just no respiratory depression (very worrying), virtually no intoxication & no bodily effects such as warming effect, gate change (Cerebellar). I became so worried & distressed by this that I set out to withdraw from all Drugs & Alcohol in the hope that the fore mentioned extremely strange & bafflin...

i found them in my 14 year old sons bedroom.olanzapine 5mg oval tablets with lilly 4115.what are they? Also what are the effects or side effects of them. ## Olanzapine is an atypical antipsychotic, used to treat various mental disorders. Some of the side effects it causes includes: nausea, drowsiness, weight gain and severe sedation. I would think that due to the sedation, drowsiness and the possibility of dizziness, some kids may like to abuse it, because these are similar to the effects of a narcotic. There is also the possibility that he doesn't know what they really are and was told they are something else. how to get off Olanzapine drug. What other non addictive medication or nutrients can be taken to ameliorate the side effects of olanzapine withdrawal. ## Hi Elizabeth, Have you ever considered trying medical marijuana as a means of helping you get over much of those withdrawal symptoms? If anything, I think it could at least help you cope mentally and emotionally with it until the other symptoms begin to subside. That is just my theory based on personal experience. But I know everyone reacts and responds different to treatment, so perhaps it would be best to discuss this with your doctor if your state is one that allows the use of cannabis?

I have gone cold turkey off 2.5 mg Olazanpine 7 days ago. I am suffering with side effects such has heaviness, tingling in hands, fatigue. How long before some of these subside and I start to feel a bit better? ## Hello, Dono! How are you doing? Has there been any improvement, yet? How long were you taking it? Depending on the length of time you were on it, it may take a few weeks for all the withdrawal effects to subside, though they should ease off slowly in severity. Other withdrawal effects, as listed by the FDA, may include fever, chills, diarrhea and rebound depression.

does olanzapine contain opiates ## Nope - no opiates in Zyprexa... however there is a very small benzo component - small enough that a benzo addiction/withdrawal issue would be almost impossible. To my knowledge, this med contains no narcotics or otherwise chemically addictive ingredients. ## That is correct, Olanzapine is the active ingredient, it is used to mental health disorders, such as schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, sedation, somnolence, and weight gain. Has this been prescribed for you? ## If I put raw opium up my rectum will it work better than smoking it? ## What would make you even think of that ? I think you need to stop smoking it ! You might be alittle burned out.

I have a question: I was prescribed Olanzapine 50 mg for Prurigo Nodularis from a dermatologist. I have sores that bother me like crazy for a couple of years now. The Dr said it's stress. I don't agree. Am already on an antidepressant. Has anyone ever heard of being prescribed this med for my condition? Thanks Bon ## Hello Bon, The NIH actually has an article where they say that the exact cause of prurigo nodularis is not known, however, what is known is that scratching them causes them to spread. I'm sure you are already aware of the scratching spreading them but what strikes as odd is that nowhere does the NIH state that a common practice is to prescribe mood enhancers such as olanzapine. Commonly creams and ointments are prescribed and for severe cases dermatologists will...

I have bipolar and was on 5mg of olanzapine and 20mg of seroxat. I was quite well for 8 or 9 years. I asked my doctor if I could come off the meds, and she took me off the olanzapine in December 2012. I had an awful relapse about 6 months later, ended up in hospital, lost my job and caused awful hardship for my family. I have asked my doctors and pharmacist if stopping the olanzapine caused the relapse and they all said no, as after stopping the olanzapine symptoms would occur within a week or so. I can accept this. However, I also asked if I had carried on taking it could I have prevented the relapse. Again, they all said no - that because relapse occurred about 6 months after I came off it, that there was no link between the two. Again I asked a few times if I had continued taking the...

I have a friend who left some yellow round pills at my home and there was no bottle or box that they came in. She has been on tablets for her mental health before but as these have no name to show what they are I was a little concerned to have think these tablets are not her usual prescribed medication and wondered if anyone can give me an insight as to what these tablets are. She does suffer with Anxiety, panic attacks and mental health issues on top of her depression, so could these tablets be some sort of a stabaliser for her health conditions? They are yellow in colour, round, about the size of a diazepam and has 48 on one side and c on the other. ## From what I can find, the manufacturer Aurobindo lists them as containing 10mgs of Olanzapine, which is used to treat various types of...

I have to take amoxicillin with it to ward off the flares.
