high blood presure ## My new cardiologist has prescribed Micardis HCT to replace Triam HCTZ. My blood pressure has always been fine using Triam HCTZ and Atenolol. This new drug costs more ansd seems to list a lot of side effects. I'd like to know what experience others have had with Micardis HCT. Thanks ## Joanne, if you are happy with what your doctor was taking, then just tell them that you would rather not switch. In most cases, they are prescribing something new because some drug rep from the company bopped into their office and talked them into it. They got free samples, free gifts, free pens, whatever. It really doesn't matter that a newer med is really a great unkown, the drug reps tell them it is great, so they start writing scrips for it. ## Thank you. This same cardiol...

I am 64 yr old female with HTN. ACE inhibitors caused severe muscle weakness, can't take Calcium Channel Blockers d/t GERD, so MD finally tried ARBs: Losartan Potassium caused paresthesia and PVCs (symptoms vanished right after drug dc'd). Then Rx'd HCTZ alone with good efficacy but d/t elevated readings in MD office, was changed to Micardis and HCTZ. Paresthesia returned. Micardis stopped, (back to HCTZ only), but paresthesia continues even after off Micardis x 6 weeks. How long can it take for paresthesia to stop? ## After 6 weeks it should have started to improve, already, unless some permanent nerve damage has been done, or if it's also being affected by the HCTZ, since it can also cause it as a side effect. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly includin...

My mother has a very low morning blood pressure 90-100/55-60. During the day and up to the afternoon her blood pressure raises to 150/90. She was prescribed Micardis HCT 40 mg. We are very concerned to give her this medication when her blood pressure is low as 100/60. Should we wait for the blood pressure to raise to over 120 and then to give a medication. Or the medication should be taken in the morning regardless on the morninf blood pressure. ## Hi, Olya! Is she feeling dizzy or nauseous in the morning? What has her doctor said about it? Normally, if someone isn't having any symptoms from it the 100/60 is nothing to worry about, it's not a dangerously low reading and it is normal for someone's blood pressure to be low, when they first wake up and start moving around for t...

female 60,s good wt active still working very sensitive ti meds ,on micardis 80mg with 2xs week hctz ,does micardis in its history cause abd bloating ,it actually feels like diaphagm is being displaced ## Yes, the FDA does list gastrointestinal symptoms as being possible side effects of Micardis, it can also happen with the HCTZ. Other side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination and dehydration. It sounds like you may be having an acid reflux problem. Have you consulted your doctor to have it checked out?
