What is happening with the production of methylin? ## Unfortunately, I don't have an answer for you. There have been quite a few posts recently about being people being unable to get various medications, including Adderall and Oxycodone, so this is just another added to the list. Have you tried talking to your doctor about using an alternative medication?

What is happening with the production of methylin? ## I am not sure, but there have been other posts about people having a problem getting it, so there seems to be a shortage in some areas. It contains the active ingredient Methylphenidate, which is available under several other brand names, as well as a generic. Have you tried asking your pharmacy or doctor about using an alternative? ## Here in California Costco, CVS, Riteaid and Perscription Solutions have had Methylin on back order since late March. According to pharmacy operators a federal order has temporarily shut down distribution of this drug and many other drugs including pain relievers. I am surprised this has not appeared more prominently in the major media outlets. .

My 5 year old son was givin methylin 5 mg it worked for about a month then stopped, we upped it to the 10mg extended release, he developed anger issues so we decided to go back down the the 5 mg the new script we were givin wasnt methylin 5 mg it's methylphenid 5 mg. my questions is, is that the same thing? ## Hi. I have the same question. Did anyone give you an answer back in 2009 for the difference btw. these 2 drugs? Thanks. ## Yes, they are the same. The active ingredient is Methylphenidate, which is also what generics are called, and Methylin is a brand name of Methylphenidate. This medication is commonly used to treat ADHD, and the FDA warns that it may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, mood changes, and weight loss. small white 10mg ## I cannot provide you with a picture or confirmation unless you provide me with the full imprint. There are no proprietary guidelines for the way pills look in the pharmaceutical industry, thus there are tons of pills with that description, some are Ritalin, some aren't. ## I have a small, flat, oval shaped pill. It is scored on the same side of the imprint. One half above the scored line it is imprinted 301 or possibly 10E. On the other half below the scored line is a symbol that looks like an S with a diagonal line passing through the center, touching the end of the S's tails. I was told this is Methylin but it doesn't come as such in any pill identifier I've used. Does anyone what this is? Thanks a ton for your time. I sincerely appreciate it.

Is there any Sulfa in this tablet? I have had all day headaches, nausea and a feeling of malaise. These are side effects that I have because I am extremely allergic to sulfa medications and food. ## No, there is no sulfa in the name brand tablets of Methylin, the active ingredient is Methlyphenidate and the inactives are: lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, and talc. What you are experiencing though, can be side effects of the tablet, which should wear off, after a few weeks as your body adjusts to the medication. You may also experience: irritability, nervousness and insomnia. More on the medication here: Do you have any other questions?

I have narcolepsy and have been on 20mg of Methylin (generic Ritalin) 3 times a day for some time now. I didn't seem as effective as it was at first, so I did some research and asked my Dr about the amphetamine class of meds. He prescribed Dexedrine (dextroamphetamine). I was awake but not motivated to actually do anything. I needed a nap everyday. I asked to go back on the Ritalin. He agreed but seemed surprised that Methylin worked better for me than dextroamphetamine. Shortly after that I asked for my dose to be increased. Remember, I'm on 20mg 3 times a day. I asked to increase it to 4 times a day (just in the office - I didn't have an appointment at the time. Am I going to have a really difficult time finding a Dr that will make this increase? I've read there are na...

My doctor just gave me a prescription of methylin er and it makes me tired. Should I up the dose to give me enery to concentrate. I don't need to be tired I need to be awake to concentrate. This is the 1st day i took it. Are you suppose to be sluggish? Or does it just take a couple days to work effectivley? I am 54 and need to concentrate. ## I have tried both generic ritalin (methylin er) and BRAND NAME ritalin. There is HUGE difference! If you are getting tired on generic ritalin ask your doctor to write on perscription: brand name nessasary. It costs more but worth it. You should give the brand name ritalin a few weeks before you see a consistant change. ## I've found that any ER or LA doesn't work for me. Methylphenidate doesn't work either. Only the immediate releas...

I have just been given Methylin as a generic for Ritalin. I have taken other generic forms of Ritalin. All others have been called Methylphenidate and have all responded as anticipated. Methylin has been very different. It has made me sleepy, not alert at all and most importantly has significantly lowered my blood pressure while raising my pulse. My last dosage lowered my bp to 63/46, pulse 96. I stopped the medication. Are there any others with similar effects while taking this medication? ## Tell your doctor and pharmacist that this generic doesn't work for you. There is no way that they can force you to take a generic that doesn't work I am not a doctor but all I see is it is the same drug just generic. Different brand. I may be wrong, but ask, I can't see you taking some...

I was taking Methylin 20MG twice daily. My new script was filled at CVS, and it is Methylphenidate SZ 790, BUT it says TAKE 6 TABLETS BY MOUTH EVERY DAY. This has to be a mistake??? ## Have you contacted your doctor or pharmacy? I am thinking someone might have misread the prescription or made a typo. The pills marked SZ 790 are 20mg Methylphenidate time released tablets and that would be a major and dangerous dosage jump. In addition, the maximum daily dose should only be 60mgs and taking 6 in day would be doubling that. I can't see any doctor prescribing that amount. ## Verwon, thank you for your reply. Your link was very comprehensive and enlightening. I found the 20MG dose intolerable, so I cut the tabs in half and took 10MG's twice a day. I did take the prescription back to...

The 3 Manufacturers are Mallinkrodt/Methylin, Sandoz and Watson Pharmaceuticals. On this day, December 3,2011 I learned that if a generic drug is back ordered in lots of different Pharmacies our HMO's will pay for the drug that is prescribed. All who are prescribed Methylphenidate 20 mg. are being turned away by CVS, RiteAid, including the pharmacies in some Giant food stores . If you are prescribed both forms of this drug do not let the Pharmacist fill one part of your prescriptions and if both are on 1 prescription sheet never trust anyone to complete the refill. They'll fill the one they have and as far as the other part, you lose! ## Finally my pharmacy failure has been explained. I went to my CVS Pharmacy and Talked with the manager about the crisis of this back order defen...
