Loestrin Fe 1/20 Ethinyl Estradiol + Norethindrone Acetate

Ethinylestradiol/norethisterone acetate (EE/NETA), or ethinylestradiol/norethindrone acetate, is a combination of ethinylestradiol (EE) and norethisterone acetate (NETA) which is used as birth control and menopausal hormone therapy.[1][2] EE is an estrogen, while norethisterone acetate (NETA) is a progestin.[1] It is taken by mouth.[1] Some preparations of EE/NETA used in birth control additionally contain an iron supplement in t...

does this cause added weight gain or acne ## Hello, Kris! How are you? Those are both possible side effects of any hormonal contraceptive, along with nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, irregular bleeding and bloating. And please make sure not to miss taking any of the active tablets, because that will increase your risk of pregnancy. Are there any other questions or concerns?

I used to take loestrin 21 1/20 and never had any issues with it. I moved and lost insurance for awhile. My new dr put me on Lo Loestrin FE. Today is my 1st day taking it. I am strictly using it to try to regulate my period and calm down my PMS symptoms. The loestrin 21 1/20 used to do the trick for me. The dr office said they're basically the same. Can anyone ease my mind on this that actually used both of these pills? ## From what I could gather, there actually are differences shown between the two medications. Loestrin 1/20 reportedly contains the active ingredients Norethindrone acetate + Ethinyl estradiol Loestrin FE on the other hand contains Norethindrone acetate + Ethinyl estradiol + Ferrous fumarate (a form of Iron) I'm not sure how the addition of Iron might effect the...

I have a year supply of samples of loestrin24 Fe. However, I want to take them as the loestrin 1/20 28 Rx. Would it not be the same as taking the first 21 pills of the loestrin 24, then a week of iron tablets? Aren't the ingrdients the same in both Rx's? I know that the 24's have 3 more active days and 3 less placebos. Thanks

I started taking lo loestrin for the first time a few days before my period on jan 2 2014. I was still getting use to the Times i would take them so i took them at different times on some days I had intercourse on that same day not protected. I then had breakthrough bleeding within 6days after taking the pill, and stopped the pill immediatly on jan 8 2014 due to really painful cramps. The break through bleeding stopped on jan 13 2014. I was wondering how long would it take my cycle to start after only taking this birth control for a week? Is It possible I could get pregnant for stopping the pill after a short ammount of time or not being consistant with it time wise? Help. :( I'm now two weeks late. ## Hello, Janine! How are you? Yes, there's a chance you could be pregnant. In o...

Well, I was on this pill since May 1st, 2013 (had only 2 periods) and stopped taking it November 9th cause we are trying to have a baby. Actually we were planning to have our baby by the next summer (late August or September). Reading all these things about Lo loestrin fe made me so sad and disappointed, should we really wait more months to become pregnant? Is there any exceptions among you? Please if you have any hopeful comment, I would highly appreciate it! ## Hello, Nikky! How are you? Generally, when stopping an oral contraceptive, such as this, that suppresses ovulation, it can take 2 or 3 months, before your body rebalances your hormones naturally and you actually ovulate, again. It may happen sooner, but there's no way to know for sure, it can vary from woman to woman. Have ...

I started taking this birth control in Sept 2016. It has been great taking this pill until I missed my period on the last week of Jan and I just took my last brown pill before starting a new pack and nothing. I have cramps, but i havent started. I've been active, but we use protection every time. Should I be concerned? ## There is never any harm in checking for pregnancy, if you're concerned, but it can be normal to skip periods while taking an oral contraceptive, according to NIH reports, some women stop experiencing periods altogether, while taking them. Other side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and PMS-like symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with?

I started taking Lo Loestrin Fe on July 2nd, 2012. I was previously on Beyaz for about a year until my yearly checkup with my gynecologist. She switched me to Lo Loestrin Fe because of all of the recent blood clot and legal scares with Beyaz. Anyway, on Beyaz, I was used to having a VERY regular period that started the morning of my last pill in the pack. I was expecting to get my period on the same day as usual with Lo Loestrin Fe, but I have never actually bled. All that I have been shedding is a thick, brown substance. This was normal in the beginning and end of my periods on Beyaz, but on Lo Loestrin Fe, I have never actually had a normal period. I don't know if this is because of the hormonal differences in the pills or if I am pregnant. It is currently 2 days after I should ha...

I am 53 and have been taking lo loestrin fe 1/10 for about two years. I stopped taking it for 2 months and have lots of hot flashes and mood swings. I have started taking junel 1/20. What is the difference in these two drugs? When/Will the hot flashes etc stop? ## Hello, Sarah! How are you? Yes, that would happen if you stopped taking abruptly and two months wasn't enough time to allow your body to balance things back out on its own. From what you've listed, the Junel contains twice the amount of estrogens as the other. And its difficult to say when they will stop, it could take awhile for the hormones to balance back out. Have you consulted your doctor for advice? ## I was on Lo Loestrin for years. Had to switch to junel fe or Blisovo for insurance reasons. Both have twice the ...

I have been on this pill for 11 months now... since September 2014. My periods were irregular at first but started to become more regular. In the middle of June I missed 2 pills in a row. I took them both the next day however. I then started my period a week early right after I took those 2 pills late (I was camping with girls who were on their period, so I figured that's why I started early). Once I got off of my period, I had unprotected intercourse with my boyfriend. I have not missed a pill since those 2 in June but it is now time that I should be having my period if it is a normal 26-32 day cycle. I usually wouldn't start until the end of the month but last month I started in the middle. I am worried because I have been experiencing what could be pregnancy symptoms. I notic...

I'm a little confued. I got my period on a Friday Jan 1, 2016 and started the pack on the first friday of the pack. Should i have done that or just started on the first sunday of the pack? I'm entering into the third week of the pack, therefore should I finish the blue pills of the first week before taking the white pills. Today is Jan 16, 2016 and I'm not scheduled to get my period unto Feb 1 or Jan 31. I think the answer is yes on the blue pills. I though the day yiu got your period and the day you take the blue pill had to match, but I don't think that is the case. Also, if get my period on a day I'm supposed to take the white or brown pills do I take the white or brown pill and a blue pill or just the first blue pill of the next pack? Let me know, please. Thanks....

Ive been on a low dose version of lo loestrin for a while now. My Gyn prescribed them to me after my laparoscopy back in December of 2012 to prevent endometriosis from coming back. I take it at 6pm every day but sometimes I miss my dose by 2 or 3 hours and like once or twice a month I'll forget to take it until the next day. I always get my period on the second row of blue pills and it'll last a week or sometimes a few days more. I never get my period during the white and brown pills like im suppose to. Infact when I get to the white and brown it usually ends my period. What worries me is this month I got my period twice once at the beginning of the month and now im on it again. Would skipping straight to the brown and white pills end it? Or should I talk to my Gyn about it firs...

So last month I had a horrible uti and was perscribed antibiotics about 2 weeks out of the whole month so after I finished up the antibiotics about a week later I got my withdrawl bleed and during my withdrawl bleed I did have intercourse without a condom but I finished my last period on sep 4th and started spotting today sep 11th and I spotted for about 20 min and now its gone ive been on lo loestrin fe for almost 4 months now is this normal please let me know what you think!!! also I take my pills everyday at the same time im about 20 days away from my period. ## What antibiotics did you take? There are some that can lower the efficacy of oral contraceptives and would require you to use a backup method of contraception for awhile, due to the possibility of ovulation occurring. Have yo...

I stopped taking Lo loestrine FE 3 weeks ago. I am still experiencing all the symptoms of my cycle as if I were still on the pill. I took Lo loestrine FE for 20 months and only had a period the first 2 months. My OB said this was normal. Ok Fine. I had period symptoms: cramping, breast tenderness, back aches etc..Well, 3 weeks without this pill and I feel likeII'm still on it. When will these symptoms go away? ## This is a hormonal contraceptive and you were taking it for almost 2 years, so what you're experiencing is normal. Your body got used to your adding those hormones and now, it has to readjust to no longer having them and reregulate your hormones on its own. That's going to take some time. I forgot the last week weeks of pills and according to instruction I have to restart taking a new pack and discard those remaining last two weeks of pill ( which I did ). A day after missing my pill, I got my period ( like normal and on schedule ) I restarted taking the Lo Loestrin Fe back 2 weeks after being off it. Then my period started again 20 days after the last day of my period. It was light ( like my last period ). But the problem or concern I have now is that I got the period for a week, then it stopped for 2 days, then came back for another 2 days ( also light that it is ok to just wear pantiliner ) then after that it stopped for another 2 days, now its back again and I am having little cramps like I am having period. Is this normal? ## Yes, that can happen, if you miss pills ...

I have been taking Minestrin 24 for over a year now with a regular period, however this last month - I have not had period only spotted a tiny bit, however, I have intense cramping - is this normal. ## Hello, Kathy! How are you? Those can be normal side effects of this medication, according to FDA reports. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, and irritability. It is usually nothing to worry about, unless your doctor sees a reason to be concerned. Some women stop having periods, entirely, while taking oral contraceptives. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I was in loestrin 24 starting in October 2011 until the switch had to be made to minastrin and have been taking that ever since. After stopping loestrin fe 1/20 how soon can I get my next period? Please help. We are ready for a baby. (: ## Hello, Lala! How are you? It's difficult to say, because it will usually take awhile for your body to balance your hormones back out on its own and for ovulation to occur. You should consult your doctor to be sure, but it's usually said to take about 3 months for things to get back to normal and for you to be able to get pregnant. Are there any other questions or concerns?

Hi. I was on loestrin fe 1/20 for about 1year and half. Love it. The best control pill ever. But is time for us to have a baby. I just stopped taking it on the last day of my period, (b/c we are now trying to get pregnant) which left one brown pill in the pack. How long will I have to wait before I can get pregnant or can I get pregnant right way(i.e when I ovulate)? I'm also worried because I didn't get my period for about three month before this last one (and spotting on August 20th) on the 17th of September(which was very little. I only needed a liner). And it ended on the 21th which was the day I purposely misses the pill. I'm supposed to ovulate oct 1st. Is not having my period for 3months gonna effect me ovulating in October 1st? Or is it possible we get pregnant. Than...
