WHAT IS LODRANE 24D USED FOR ## Lodrane 24 D (active ingredients brompheniramine and pseudoephedrine) both of these drugs are used to treat symtoms of allergies or colds such as: sneezing, coughing, runny or stuffy nose, itchy or watery eyes, and rash. The doctor gave my child some samples of Lodrane 24. He is 11 and weighs 114 lbs. Does he need to take one or two pills at a time? Also, should he take them at night or in morning? Thanks in advance~ Jill ## I suggest calling the doctor and asking them for the appropriate dosing schedule. None of us here can diagnose, nor guess at what your child's proper treatment should be. ## Can Lodrane 24 cause facial/chest rash? ## I took a Lodrane 24 capsule in place of usual claritin (Lodrane for 6 days) as Dr. prescribed because of sinus infection. This a.m. I have a heavy red rash on my face. Could the Lodrane have caused this?

Has Lodrane 24 has been discontinued and if so, why? ## expexted mid to late 2012. Regarding Lodrane 24 and Lodrane 24D availability: March 2, 2011 the FDA published a notice that some 500 cough/cold/allergy products were to cease manufacturer distribution on August 31, 2011. Our three Lodrane products (Lodrane 24, Lodrane 24D, and Lodrane 12D) were included in this notice. This notice was not a product recall and there were no safety issues with our products. I am a 42 year old male that weighs 220 pounds!I want to know if i can take two Lodrane 24D capsules at the same time before bed? ## The usual dosage for Adults is 1 Capsule every 4-6 hours, and to not exceed 4 capsules within a 24 hour period. If it says you can't take more than 4 capsules within a 24hr period, then in my opinion, taking two capsules at once wouldn't be much different (based on relative dosing and the time gap in between). For your own safety I wouldn't recommend ignoring those dosing guidelines, because these medications can affect everyone differently. Have you tried any other allergy medications that might be more effective with a single dose?

Are any of the meds with same formula as Drixoral available anywhere? (Desihist SA, Dexaphen SA, Dexophed, Disobrom, Disophrol, Dixaphedrine, Drexophed SR, Drixomed, Drixoral, Duomine) Is the effect of Brompheniramine Maleate the same as Dexbrompheniramine Maleate? If so perhaps, Lodrane D-24 will work. Has anyone tried it yet? I'm fighting nausea, popping ears & wheezing while waiting for my pharmacy to get some. I'm so relieved to find I am not alone in only finding relief with Drixoral. Over the years, especially recently, I have tried others, but none do the job.
