How long does it take for Linzess to be completely out of your system? ## From what I could gather, Linaclotide (Linzess) doesn't remain in your system very long at all. According to a study on NIH.gov, the parent drug (Linaclotide) completely degrades to its metabolite within 30 minutes, with a first-order half-life of only 3 minutes. [1] source: PubMed / PMC3638410 That said, my understanding is that Linzess should be completely out of one's system within 1-3 days easy. However there are other important variables outside of the half life that may prolong or otherwise have some sort of impact on the estimated time frame. Hope this helps! ## How long does it take on average for Linzess to get out of the body? ## I am 115 lbs and I feel the effects of Linzess for at least 2 days....

I take synthroid and, belviq in the morning at same time I take linzess.? ## Hi Judy, Upon looking up potential drug interactions, I did find an article noting how Linzess (Linaclotide) has been known to cause diarrhea, which in-turn may affect the absorption of other medications that are taken orally, such as Synthroid (Levothyroxine)... essentially not allowing it to work as well as it should. So if you do decide to take them together, I think it would be equally important to watch for signs/symptoms of decreased thyroid function as a result of this interaction. Have you been taking the Linzess long enough to know how it affects you (i.e. regarding diarrhea)? ## The Linzess does cause some diarrhea ,if I take the synthroid and belviq 2hours later (after the linzess ) would that be long...

How fast will the lizness begin to work? I have to go to work and don't want to be running up and down statues all day. ## Hi Gil, While some patients report having bowel movements on the first day from taking Linzess (Linaclotide), others mention that it took up to a few weeks before it really kicked into gear for them. With that said, the only real way to see if it will work for you is by actually trying it and committing yourself to a full course of treatment. I guess you're supposed to take it 30 minutes before eating or drinking in the morning, but I don't know if that has an impact on it's overall effectiveness throughout the rest of the day. The patient prescribing information notes that symptoms of diarrhea often begin within the first 2 weeks of treatment. So I...

I am taking Constella for IBS but I also have a rectocele which seems to prevent a bowel movement unless I take laxatives and suppositories. Does this sound possible? Thank you ## Hello, Carole! How are you? Constella and Linzess both contain the same active ingredient, Linaclotide, so both are pretty much the same. The U.S. FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, bloating, stomach pain, and diarrhea. Rectoceles have been known to cause difficulty having bowel movements, according to the NIH, there are various treatment options that may help, including surgery. What has your doctor advised?

I'm gonna stop this for a week and see what happens. I actually fasted for 1 1/2 days taking weight in A.M. and P.M. only having water and fruit juice (Low Sugar) and didn't lose anything? ## Hi Chuck, I don't know if this is would accurately describe the type of weight gain you mentioned, but according to nih.gov, Linzess (Linaclotide) is known to cause swelling or a feeling of fullness/pressure in the stomach region that may appear as added weight. It can also cause excess gas to from, which may also contribute to feeling bloated. I'm thinking perhaps either of these side effects could be the culprit, ...

I have been on Linzess for a month. My dose is now 1 every other day. I am still waiting to see if the diarrhea subsides on the new dose. I have had another problem which started about 5 days in. My hips started aching. Since then I have having muscle tension in my shoulders and upper back. I dont' want to give up on the Linzess, but am concerned about the muscle aches. Is the diarrhea caused by the Linzess dehydrating me. My urine output seems normal. Or could I be reacting to something in the Linzess? ## Hi Karen, Sorry to hear about the muscle aches/diarrhea. From what I could gather, both diarrhea and stomach pain are reported to be common but potentially severe side effects of Linzess (Linaclotide) that you should talk with your doctor about if the symptoms do not go away on th...
