w-1714 ## The pill in description is Potassium Chloride SR (20 MEQ). Potassium chloride has many uses such as being a sodium-free substitute for table salt (sodium chloride). Research I have gathered states that this pill works by providing a direct replacement of potassium in the body. Potassium chloride is in the class of drugs called potassium supplements that are used to prevent hypokalaemia. NOTE: Orally, KCl is toxic in excess. Can anyone tell me how many mgs are in the KlorCon M10 ER tablet? I am trying to compare it to the 1500 mg in a Pot Chlor ER tablet 20meq. ## The Klor-Con M10 ER is listed as being equivalent to 750mgs, or 10meqs, so it's half the dosage of the one you are comparing it to. I am looking for an over the counter that is equivalent to to the kor-con m10 er tablets ## Hello, Tracey! How are you? I'm sorry, but there is nothing available over the counter that is equivalent. The over the counter Potassium supplements are just fractions of this, so you'd have to spend just as much many to take a lot of them. How low is your potassium level? You may be able to up it by combining over the counter supplements with high potassium foods, such as bananas. Have you consulted your doctor for ideas? ## Thanks....I was just wondering. Went to doc fri....she uped my lisinopril from 10 to 20 mg and asked me if I took at night.....I always take at 425 every morn before work. Now she wants me to take it before bed. She said people usually take it before bed. why?

I have been taken 9 potassium tablets a day to for approx 6 years. Potassium level has been good. Will there be any side effects if I cut back to one a day, after one office visit and blood test? I do not understand this quick move and am scared. ## Hello, Almond! How are you? There really shouldn't be any issues, according to the FDA, but if they are the only thing keeping your potassium up, it may drop again, suddenly, due to a rebound effect. Thus, your doctor should check it, again, soon. Did they give any reason for the sudden change?

Can i take Klot-con powder mixed in pepsi? ## Hello, Craig! How are you? Ideally, it should be water or juice, the acids in sodas can sometimes neutralize some medications, so it's best not to mix them with sodas. The U.S. FDA lists the typical side effect of this as being nausea, due to its harshness on the stomach, so it is best taken with food. Is there anything else I can help with?

Con you tell me how many bananas I have to eat to get the same amount of potassium as one klor-con m20 tab? ## Hello, Frank! How are you? From what I can find, they estimate approximately 1 mEq per inch of banana, so you'd need to eat 20 inches of banana for each tablet you are supposed to take. It would likely be easier to just take the tablets, rather than eating bananas all day, every day. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thank you for the information. I was curious. That is a lot of bananas especially in light of the fact I'm not that crazy about bananas. The pill, though, is a bit hard to swallow. Again, thank you for the effort. ## A FAIRLY SMALL BANANA IS APPROX. SIX INCHES, SO 3 OR 4 BANANAS IS NOT ALL THAT MUCH. IT'S MUCH BETTER THAN THE PILL IN MY OPINION...

Why is my Klor-Con powder prescription so expensive even with the co-pay ## Hi Judy, From what I understand, prices can often vary at the pharmacy's discretion, depending on what cost they received it at from the manufacturer/distributor. However if money remains a concern, I would encourage you to try various drug discount cards, such as the one MedsChat offers here: RX Savings Card Coupons like these can reportedly save you anywhere from 15 to 75% off your prescription, and are valid at most pharmacies here in the US. The card can be printed out and brought with you when you go to fill your prescription, in order to see what type of discount they offer. Not sure if you might be aware of this or not, but fruits and vegetables are also abundant in minerals including potassium. If yo...

Doctor has RX'd both lasix and KLOR-CON M 20meg for swollen ankle. Is it necessary to take both medications? Can I just take the lasix and rely on the potassium I obtain through the foods that I eat? ## Hello, Buckeye! How are you? It would be best to take them both, if your doctor has prescribed them both. Diuretics, such as Lasix tend to really sap your potassium and it could be dangerous, if it drops too low. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Lasix as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and increased urination. The Klor-Con is known to cause stomach pain and upset, so it is best taken with food or a snack. Is there anything else I can help with? ## The advice in your reply sounds logical and I will follow it by taking both meds. thanks, Verwon. An extensive sea...

Can you die if your in good health and take 15 klor con meq 20 tablets? ## Hello, Matt! How are you? It is possible to overdose on virtually any medication and, when it comes to Potassium, too much can be just as dangerous as not having enough. However, immediate death would most likely not occur, but a person could damage their heart, blood vessels and liver, which could turn into fatal conditions, as reported by the NIH. How soon after starting Klor-con m20 3 times daily will my level increase for a blood test? I am to have surgery in 5 days and right now it is low. ## Hello, Carol! How are you? I hope your surgery goes well. It usually starts to raise within a few days. I've had to take it, before, because for some reason my body doesn't store potassium and they were able to see a difference after just a few days, when I was in the hospital and checked frequently. The FDA does warn that it can be very harsh on the stomach, so it should be taken with food. Is there anything else I can help with?

I take Kcl 10 ME to replenish K loss from a water pill. It is costly. Can I get the same replenishment from dietary Kcl such as as is used to replace Nacl? ## Over the counter supplements are only allowed to max out at 99mgs of Potassium, so you may need to take several to keep it up that way. Learn more Potassium details here. We always have trouble keeping mine up, so we actually switched me to a potassium sparing diuretic, Spironolactone. Learn more Spironolactone details here. You might want to ask your doctor about trying it, instead.
