Paliperidone, sold under the trade name Invega among others, is an atypical antipsychotic. It is mainly used to treat schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder. Invega Sustenna is a very potent medication that's most commonly used to treat schizophrenia and such drugs are well known to cause a lot of side effects. Hi, I was given Invega Sustenna at 100mg a month for 10 months since Dec 5th. My last shot was on August 29th 2013. The medication gave me severe anhedonia and I have lost the motivation and willpower to do anything. I can no longer experience joy, happiness, or pleasure from anything I do and I have no interest in doing anything. I constantly feel restless and uneasy and I just can't shake this feeling away no matter what. All of these started about a week after my first IV. I have been off this medication for almost 3 months now and I have yet to feel any improvements. I have read that it has a long half life of 25-49 days and that it can stay in your body for 300 days. So does that mean I will have to wait a year to start feeling better? Any info on someone who has been off this ...

I am having a lot of secondary effects after stopping invega. 1. anhedonia 2. cognitive problems 3. walking problems 4. insomnia Is anyone experiencing the same? Especially the insomnia. After my serious episode they started me on 156 invega sustenna injection. Lets see the first 2 weeks I am extremely tired.Laid out. It even makes me drool. In my 25 year history of taking meds. I started 14. I have not been this tired. I am completely useless. its been 4 months now. they even decreased it. im ready to get off of it. Can it be dangerous to take Invega Sustenna? Are the risks worth the benefits of this medication? ## as far as I know, 4.5% in comparison to 2.6 % on placebo died, but not sure if those were only elderly patients or not. when I asked about weight gain, lots of medicines said taht weight gain is 10 %, unfortunately I have always been in those 10%. So now the risk is 5%, according to my experience the risk to die would be 50/50 then, that is in fact a high risk and I would prefer 5% 5/100, but I have a hard time believing in the statistics given my experiences. How many mgs of Risperdal Consta are released daily from the 2 week shot of 12.5? Additionally my son had an awful reaction to Invega when it first came out. So far so good on the Risperdal Consta. I was just wondering if he transitions to the Invega Sustenna (4 week) dose would that be any different and why? ## There are 2 mgs released daily in the 12.5 two week shot. I have been on the Invega injection 234mg for over 5 years with one period of time going off it for 7 weeks. During this 7 week time my anxiety increased and i had some set backs while at the supermarket, mainly paranioa. I have never heard voices or had halucinations before. When i was first diagnosed with schizophrenia they said it was a mild case of if. The mental Heath Center i go to have my summary listed as Paranoid Schizophrenia type. The last time i told my told i thought my medication was making me feel worse she said it may require hospitalization. In the past I've been hospitalized because i thought something was wrong with me and went on my on will, not forced or committed. I was given two shots of invega sustenna, the 234mg loading dose and then the 154mg starting does and it as been the most horrible experience of my life. I curse the doctors who prescribed me this horrible drug. I wake up at least three times per night, I can't focus on anything. I also suffer from severe anedonia and restlessness and have trouble verbalizing my speech when I try and talk, that is the most frustrating thing that I have experienced. I have done some research and many of the people's comments I read said it would take anywhere from 6 months to a year to get the drug out of your system. I pray it is not that long. I've been on Invega Sustenna injection for over 6 years. My eyes started closing involuntary about 4 years ago. It happens no matter what i'm doing or where i'm at. I'm at the point where i can barely drive because one of my eyes closes. I've been to the eye Dr. several times and he said my eyes are fine. I've been to numerous neurologist, my first D.r thought it was a condtion called blepharospasm, the last one didnt believe i had the condition and thought it was psychological. My therapists thinks it's a nervous twitch or a 'tic'. Yes, it would most likely be best to dispose of it. Liquid medications tend to degrade very fast, when not stored properly. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thanks for your reply, Verwon. I took a variety of different atypical antipsychotic medications for 2 years (including Invega Sustenna and Olanzapine). I stopped 2 months ago because of the horrendous side effects. I now have chronic fatigue for the rest of my life, accompanied by insomnia and cognitive difficulties. Thank god I stopped when I did because I was starting to get involuntary spasms in my jaw which is called Tardive Dyskinesia. I was hospitalized 2 years ago because of a psychosis and was placed on extended leave of the hospital. I was then diagnosed with schizophrenia. They forced me to be injected monthly with their poison.
