I have to switch over from Amlodipine to Inderal La 120mg caps, but I haven't switched yet due to both interacting with each other (which can cause major reactions). How long do I need to wait for no interactions? Also, I have Graves Disease. Thank you. ## Hello, Donna! How are you? In most cases, when it comes to such medications, you can must make a clean switch from one to the other, unless your doctor has advised otherwise. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Have you made the change, yet?

Hi I need help. Ive been getting regular and optical migrains since I was 19, I am now 45. About 6 months ago I sadly went to walmarts 60 mg inderal tablets to save as I am struggeling instead of my regular inderal 60 mg capsule LA that I have been taking most my life, but the past few months the optical migrains were happening every few days instead of say once a month or so. I went back to the capsules Oct. 17th almost 2 weeks ago and I am still getting the optical ones every few days. Yes there is a lot of stress in my life but there always has been. I even quit smoking its almost a year. I eat right some times not enough I am 5 7 about 130 and I exercise. My eyes were checked and found to be good. Why is this happening? Is it normal for the capsule to take more time to get back in m...

This past month, Aug.,2011, Insurance refused to pay for my Inderal so I had to take the generic propranolol. After two weeks of dizziness, I looked for the inactive ingredients on the internet and found that propranolol contained sodium lauryl sulfate as an inactive ingredient. No wonder I was dizzy--how can that stuff be allowed in our prescription drugs? It's a detergent and skin irritant. I understand the liver cannot process it. Any comments on this? Thank you for your time Joyce ## The inactive ingredients can differ from manufacturer to manufacturer. Did you look for the ones specific to the manufacturers product that you were taking? In this case, the sodium lauryl sulfate is used as an excipient, which means that it's inactive, but acts as a carrier for the active ingre...

small, round scored tablet; orange in color. is this a generic replacement for Inderal, 10 mg? ## Hi Darlene, I googled plavil 457 and it corrected me to pliva 457; which also happens to fit your description of an orange round pill. Did you mean to say "pliva"? In any case, information I was able to gather on this imprint, shows that it could either be an antibiotic in the amoxicillan family or an anti-anxiety med, which would fit your description of a generic replacement for Inderal. The only thing is, I cannot verify my finding with the lack of information available online, but I would be willing to bet that it is an anti-anxiety med. Does anyone else have information on this tablet?

I have been taking Inderal LA 80 for about 25 years and it has really controlled my tachycardia and palpitations. But insurance is getting less and less on coverage and I am thinking of switching to the generic Propranolol ER 80. I just don't want to take the chance that it will not to the exact same as the Inderal. Has anyone switched and seen a difference? I'm really nervous to switch, but the cost is getting prohibitive. ## Have you discussed it with your doctor, or pharmacist? They may know from other patients, of a particular manufacturer that's reliable. There can be some fluctuations in the active ingredient of generic medications, but it's very small and usually only affects people that are very sensitive to medications. ## I was switched to the ER from the SR Pr...

Is this extened released like inderal LA? My Dr switched me to this. I have had great results with controlling migranes with inderal, can I expect same result with propranolol ER? ## Yes, the ER stands for extended release and Propranolol is just the generic for Inderal, or what would be its active ingredient. As to whether or not you will get the same results, there is really no way to say with any certainty. Theoretically, you should, but there can be some minor differences in generic medications, from the name brands and some people are very sensitive to those differences and find that some of the generics don't work as well. The only way to find out is to actually try it and see how well it works for you. Propranolol is a beta blocker and may cause side effects, such as: nausea, ...

my doctors prescription is has follows AMIODPINE 5MG,BENDROFUMETHIAZIDE 2.5 CANDESARTAN 8MG, HALF INDERAL LA 80MG, ## Hello, Doris! How are you? I understand your concern, many people worry, when they are prescribed multiple medications. However, the relevant question is, while taking them, what are your blood pressure levels and your heart rate? And how high was your blood pressure before taking them? If someone's blood pressure is dangerously high, they are often prescribe multiple medications to bring it down safely as fast as possible to get them out of danger. Then once they are stable at a lower blood pressure level, medications can be stopped or changed, as needed.

Capsule, white in color with AK60 on top half in blue letters. 3 blue non connecting blue stripes on the bottom half. Was given for a prescription of Inderal LA 60mg. ## This capsule is manufactured by Wyeth and they list it as containing 60mgs of Propranolol in an extended release formulation, so it is a generic for Inderal and is most commonly used to treat high blood pressure, and certain heart conditions. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Is there anything else I can help with?
