Can i take ibuprofen if i took oxycodone hydrochloride 4 hours ago? I have bad tooth pain cause it broke and they're taking it out tomorrow as an emergency. ## They are sometimes taken together for better pain control, but you should not do so without the approval of a medical professional. The FDA warns that Oxycodone carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, constipation, headache, and dry mouth. Has the extraction been done, yet?

I just gave my husband 600mg ibuprofen 2 hrs ago. Can I give him the 10 mg oxycodone now or do I have to wait 2 more hours? ## Yes, ibuprofen is a different class of drug and can be taken at the same time, though for better pain control they are often staggered. So if he's prescribed oxycodone every 6 hours, you could give a dose, then 3 hrs later give ibuprofen, 3 hrs later give the oxycodone again...and so on. Just make sure he's not exceeding the max dose per day of oxycodone. ## @Stark, I just wanted to add a second opinion, in that Oxycodone + Ibuprofen is also available as a combination med that goes by the name of "Combunox". Although I've only ever seen this particular med available in a dose containing 5mgs of Oxycodone + 400mgs of Ibuprofen, and haven't...

I'm allergic to ibuprofen my lips swell so I never take it. Is it safe for me to take oxycodone for pain. Or might I have am allergic reaction. ## Hello, Chris! How are you? In theory, you should be able to, they are not related medications. Ibuprofen is classified as a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory. But, the FDA classifies Oxycodone as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. However, there is a chance you may also be allergic to it or other medications. It is known that someone that's allergic to one, is usually also prone to discovering allergies to others. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have severe arthritis in my neck and a herniated L4 and L5 disc for which I am taking 20 mg of oxycodone. I would like to find out if I can take 800mg of ibuprofen with 20 mg of oxycodone at the same time? ## They can be taken together, as long as your doctor approves, but the Ibuprofen might potentiate the effect of the Oxycodone, which could result in your experiencing more side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

Hi was prescribe both and my pain is pretty low now and I just want to take the lesser of the two when needed. Thank you ## Hello, Dede! How are you feeling? The Oxycodone with Acetaminophen 5/325 is the strongest, since the Oxycodone is an opiate narcotic. Ibuprofen, as classified by the FDA, is just a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory. The Oxycodone with Acetaminophen carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation and dry mouth. Ibuprofen may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and stomach irritation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## The oxycodone is a very strong narcotic for moderate to severe pain. The ibuprophen is very mild and is also over the counter at ...

Was in the er a few nights ago and the doctor gave me 600 mg Mortrain and 2 325 mg of percocet. When we took my prescriptions In to get filled they switch them to oxycodone and ibuprofen can I still take them together like the doctor wants ## Hi Heather, How are you? Based on my research, there are no drug interactions listed between Ibuprofen and Oxycodone. With that said, I don't see any reason why you wouldn't be able to continue taking them together as the doctor suggested. There's also a brand available here in the US by the name of Combunox, which reportedly contains both of these active ingredients as well. So there really isn't any concern with regards to interactions since they already combine the two substances in other prescription medications. I hope this hel...

I was diagnosed 5 years ago with DDS and at first by back pain was minimal. After a year or so it began to get bad enough for me to see the Dr. every 3 months or so for a prescription of Oxycodone and 800mg Ibuprofen. I have since moved and my Dr I have now told me flat out he would not give me "narcotics". Why do Dr's treat us this way. I have medical records showing my valid medical issue. If anyone can recommend a pain friendly Dr who will not make me feel embarrassed to ask for help, please email me. I live in Avondale AZ ## Have you considered a pain management specialist? That would probably be your best bet to get the help you need, since many general practitioners aren't specially trained in treating pain and are reluctant to prescribe for it. I'm sorry about the problem that you had. Oxycodone is a narcotic analgesic, so it is not related to Tylenol or any NSAID. I'm on 30mg of oxycodone with 342mg express pain relief containing ibuprofen lysine and extra power reliever tablets containing paracetamol, aspirin and caffeine is this ok ## Hello, Mavis! How are you? Both Ibuprofen and Aspirin are nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories, so you shouldn't be taking them both. It's safer to stick with one or the other, to avoid overdosing yourself. As reported by the FDA, you also increased your risk of bleeding and possibly experiencing a stomach ulcer by taking too much of them. Oxycodone is classified as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I broke my foot and I'm in severe pain. What I have is called a lisfranc fracture. I was on Tylenol threes and they didn't help and then I got hydrocodone 5 - 3 - 5 and they didn't help the last thing I tried was Oxycodone 5 325 and they still didn't really take the pain away. So I asked my doctor for something that would help the pain and he prescribed me Tramadol 50 mg. I am apprehensive to get it filled and try it because I'm not reading anything positive about it. Please help! What is the next thing I should ask for if Oxycodone 5 325 isn't helping with my pain? I don't like that it has so much Tylenol in it I would rather have something just for the pain that doesn't include Tylenol or Ibuprofen. Please advise if you can. thank you! ## While being a ...

My mom is addicted to oxycodone. Her doctor prescribes her 30 mg - 6/pills a day. She has done this for years due to back and hip pain. Surgery is not an option. I have taken over her meds and only give her what the doctor prescribes because she would take more than 6 a day and then run out before she could get any more. She also takes aspirin, tylenol, ibuprofen, advil etc. Her doctor has told her not to take other pain meds as it will destroy her internal organs over time. She will not listen to anyone! She complains constantly of hurting from her chest to stomach area and feel sure it is from the many pain meds she takes. What can be done? ## Hi Lisa, Sorry to hear about your mom's situation. What does the "IR" stand for located behind the word Oxycodone and in front of the dosage amount, i.e., 5 mg. When I look up he generic Oxycodone I see that it has acetiminiphine and/or NASIDS-Ibuprophine. I believe the manufacture is Palladone. Is there an Oxycodone made that has nothing in it except Oxycodone. Thanks??? ## The IR stands for immediate release, which means it's meant to release the medication, as soon as you swallow the tablet. While there are some formulations that contain Ibuprofen or Acetaminophen, this one doesn't. This one only contains Oxycodone. There are actually 3 formulations available that only contain Acetaminophen, the OxyIR and its generics, which you've already mentioned that are instant release. There is a time released formulation ca...

I just refilled my monthly meds for 15 mg oxycodone hcl. Been on this medication since 2002. I'm a kidney patient and cannot take aspirin, acetaminophen, ibuprofen, or muscle relaxers due to very low kidney function. This new white oblong tablet is scored on one side with initials R H and other side says "15". These are not working for my pain. Nor do I know if they contain any other ingredient that I'm not supposed to take. Please let me know why these are not working. Taking 2 at a time and still not helping. Thank u. ## Is the marking possibly RP 15? If so, these tablets are manufactured by Rhodes Pharmaceuticals and they list it as containing 15mgs of Oxycodone in a regular release formulation. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the...

I took 1 30 mg oxycotin and felt better within the hr. How many 800 mg ibuprofen would equal 1 30 mg oxycotin?? ## I'm very sorry that you're in pain. However, the answer is none! These medications are not even comparable. Oxycodone is classified by the FDA as an opiate analgesic, so it carries the risk of being habit forming and is very potent. It may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and constipation. However, Ibuprofen is just a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory that's used to treat pain, fever and swelling. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and stomach irritation. You cannot safely double up or triple up on the Ibuprofen, because that may result in overdose toxicity. If you require so...

Will this oxycodone/apap 10/325 help? ## It might, but you should only take it, if it has been prescribed for you.
