They say that if blood pressure isn't lowered by taking hyzaar 50/12.5 mgs once a day, then upping the dosage to hyzaar 100/12.5 mgs will not make much of a difference... Is that true? ## It really depends, if it doesn't work, at all, that can be true and the person will most likely need to try a different medication. If it helps some, but doesn't take it down to the ideal level, then a higher dose could help. I experienced this, when I first started Labetalol, the initial dose of 100mgs did help, but I wasn't at the best numbers, so we took it up to 200mgs and now it works very well for me. However, I've also had others I tried that did nothing, so my cardiologist didn't think it was worth trying higher doses, since they just didn't seem to work for me. The ...

The first question is the subject line. The second question is my directions state take one every day yet my BP is high several hours before my next dose. I guess taking it twice a day at a lower dosage might be in order. Of course I will run that by my Dr. The question is what potential damage am I incurring during those hours before the next daily dose ? The third question is, does oxycontin/oxycodone have contraindications taken a few hours before or after the Hyzaar ? ## Hello, Capri! How are you? No, you need to take it consistently every day, don't adjust your dosage or take an additional dosage, unless your doctor instructs you to do so. It is normal to have blood pressure fluctuations throughout the day and pre-med when it's time for the next dose. However, it takes abou...

Learn more Hyzaar details here. Thus, it would be best to dispose of the old ones and contact your doctor for a new prescription. However, you need to do so immediately, to avoid the rebound effect of missing medication. Are there any other questions I can help with? ## thank you very much for your response. I did throw them out before I even got the response and did get a new script from the doctor.

I have taken generic hyzaar for years.for the past 4years I've taken losartan potassium HCTZ 100-25 mfr by SANDOZ. They 2 days ago I got my refill and it was a different color pill and made by NORTHSTAR rx. Two days of taking them and my BP goes up to 154/122! Holy crap! My norm is 120/80. Has this medicine acted like this for other people? ## Hello, Vicki! How are you? Has there been any change? There can be fluctuations in the amount of the active ingredient in generic medications, as allowed by the Hatch-Waxman Act of 1984. Thus, this one may not be as potent as the one you were taking. The 122 is concerning and you should have this checked out, if it's still going that high, as your doctor may need to prescribe a different medication. ## They changed my meds back to the orig...

Hyzaar is the name brand, while the other is a generic that's just listed as the active ingredients, as all generics are and it really doesn't matter which one your doctor writes on the prescription pad.
