IS IT TAKEN FOR A PANIC ATTACK? ## my father is 80 years old and he has some dimensia and takes a lot of panic attacks. dont sleep, nausea most of the time and has a nervous tic about skin coming loose in his mouth. im wondering if this is from dimensia or maybe depression. ## Haldol contains the active ingredient Haloperidol, it is a potent antipsychotic that can be used to treat various types of mental health issues, conditions that require sedation, and post-surgical nausea. My friend was prescribed Haldol for depression. My friend suffers from being addicted to Perocets, and because he was going through withdraw stated that he wanted to kill himself. I know that he did not mean it, I believe it was the withdrawal. Could you help me. Is this drug the answer. ## The best thing your friend could do would be to inform his doctor of everything you've just said, that way a proper treatment plan can be undertaken. Haldol is most commonly used to treat psychotic episodes, and the FDA warns that it is very potent, and may cause side effects, such as sedation, nausea, headache, blurred vision, and mood changes. My father is a home hospice patient. Twice his Dr prescribed haldol. I never gave it to him. Each time I informed the Dr that he has Parkinson's and should not take haldol. Now he is in a inpatient hospice unit and I suspect he was given haldol based on his Parkinson's symptoms getting dramatically worse over a 24 hr period. My question is: how long after taking haldol can it be detected in the blood? ## It has been found in the brains of deceased persons as long as three weeks after they last had any. In blood tests of living people, it looks like it might be detectable for a few days. This article might help. It should never be given to elderly people, or to anyone who doesn't consent. With elderly, it's very dangerous for those who have dementia with Lewy bodies, whic...

A friend takes this medication & he says it is Haldol; however, I cannot locate it in any of the pill identifiers. I have checked several sites and none of them show this particular pill. I noticed that Haldol Decanoate is no longer available but I am unable to locate any images of this particular medication. I was wondering if maybe that is what he is taking. Could you please identify this pill? ## The brand that was sold under that name is no longer available, however, this is a generic for it and it, as well as several other brand names are still available. To be precise this tablet contains 20mgs of Haloperidol, which is an antipsychotic. Learn more: Is there anything else I can help with?

My mother was given Haldol by accident. It was thought to be a sinus tablet. this was two weeks ago. She is now experiencing aweful things such as weakness in her facial muscles, tightness in her arms, dizziness, lethargy and many more things. Is this from the haldol? or has she had a pin stroke? ## It's very doubtful that she'd still be experiencing symptoms from the Haldol 2 weeks after mistakingly taking one dose. Learn more Haldol details here. Has she sought medical attention, at all? A doctor would really be the best qualified to figure out what's happened. Have her symptoms improved any?

My dentist gave me either halcion or haldol to pull all my teeth out, they only gave me two of the tiniest pills 1 hour before I went in the dentist chair. I was not completely normal again for over 24 hrs. My question is, which medication do you believe it was that they gave me? The haldol or halcion? And how could 2 lil pills completely knock me out to where I felt no pain nor do I remember anything about the pulling of my teeth and was out for an additional 24hrs after the procedure? ## Hello, Kelliekell! How are you? It was most likely Halcion, it contains the active ingredient Triazolam and is also often used to treat severe cases of insomnia. It is a benzodiazepine and very potent, which explains how it affected you. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming, i...

I have unbearable anxiety and cogentin 2mg helps for a few hours but not the whole day. It was prescribed because I take Haldol. It gets me stoned when I take it and I feel guilty but I prefer that to gut-wrenching anxiety. Do the side effects go with time or am I going to feel stoned for as long as I take cogentin? ## Hello, Alex! How are you? Side effects typically go away with time, once your body gets used to a medication, though they may recur, if your dosage is raised at any point. The FDA lists other typical side effects as possibly including blurred vision, constipation, headache and impaired memory. Is there anything else I can help with? ## are you sure the Cogentin makes you stoned? usually the Haldol is a very heavy hitter. they sometimes use BENADRYL instead of Cogentin. i ...

My husband has Alzheimers and became combative at the Memory Care Facility where he lives. They sent him to the hospital which sent him spiraling down to probably late stage ALZ now. They kept him on lots of haldol for about 2 weeks. He couldn't walk anymore, didn't talk, couldn't feed himself and rarely opened his eyes. After trying other meds, they put him on Depakote. He remained there for another 2 weeks weaning off the Haldol and then went back to the facility. He was still in withdrawal and it took another month to get it all out of his system. But as soon as he returned they put him on Depakote only. 1000mg at night, now changed to 250 in the morning and 1000 at night. He is now awake, talking and no longer combative. He just gets agitated when they need to change his...

I have bipolar with major depression and schizo affective disorder ,adhd, and ocd. i take also haldol 2mg twice a day, klonopin 2mg a day and vyvanse 70mg a day. i have been thinking about trying cymbalta or latuda. any suggestions. i just dont want to be depressed any more . i am 40 years old and dealt with this the whole time. ## Hello, Angel! How are you feeling? I am sorry that you're suffering depression, that's very tough to deal with. The Latuda is an atypical antipsychotic, so it is very similar to the Haldol that you already take. The Cymbalta is an SNRI antidepressant, so it's related to the Zoloft, though not the same. Were th...

If Caregivers lapse the 300 mg twice a day, Fazaclo for a week, can it be started up again without loss of effectiveness. 36 year old daughter on Clozaril, taken off due to dangerous levels of white blood count and put on a national list, then put back on Fazaclo by another doctor, saying it was a safer form. Daughter went into hospital and was given emergency injection of Haldol and was off Fazaclo two days. Went to a group home, and the blood test took a week to come back, off Fazaclo for 7 days, during time receiving Halperidol injections IM. I was told that the Clozaril loses its ability to work if it is allowed to lapse. ## It isn't that Clozaril entirely loses its ability to work, but that it works best when taken regularly, so a constant level of it is maintained in the body....
