Folate, also known as vitamin B9 and folacin,[6] is one of the B vitamins.[3] Manufactured folic acid, which is converted into folate by the body, is used as a dietary supplement and in food fortification as it is more stable during processing and storage.[7] Folate is required for the body to make DNA and RNA and metabolise amino acids necessary for cell division.[1][8] As humans cannot make folate, it is require...

Is this safe to take? Ther was something on media of two ingredients in this med that had been found as unsafe. My husband was prescribed Folbee Tab Brec . I would like to know what these ingredients are and if it is safe for my husband to continue this supplement? ## Hi Molly, Are you referring to the Folbee B vitamin complex tablets? If so, I haven't read any reports deeming it unsafe to use. Maybe there is some sort of "inactive" ingredient that is causing problems? I know propylene glycol is an inactive ingredient that is commonly used in some vitamins and prescription drugs as well as beauty products (yuck!), it can be very toxic and harmful to the body over time. Also, based on my research, the version of B-12 that is used in the Folbee supplement is Cyanocobalamin, wh...

I tried to order Folbee but none were in stock. What other medication can used as a substitute for Folbee? ## Have you talked to your pharmacist or doctor about an alternative that you can use? It's a folic acid supplement, but some of them are proprietary in specific formulations. However, your pharmacist should be able to help you find an equivalent.

My pharmacy substituted "folbee tab brec" for "virt-vite" 2.5-25-1 mg. Are they the same? If not, what is the difference? ## Hello RLA, Both of these are considered to be vitamins, focusing primarily on B vitamins. The problem with telling you the difference between the two is that there are a lot of variations of both of these vitamins and so giving an exact difference would be difficult. Some versions of the folbee have more vitamin B than other versions and the same can be said for virt-vite. For all intents and purposes though if the doctor feels that the folbee tab brec is enough of a vitamin boost then I see no problem with them substituting it for the virt-vite. I hope this helps.

Has vitamins B-6, B-12, and Folic acid.I want to know the levels- thank you very much for your assistance, GOD bless. ## This medication is actually called "Diatx ZN" (instead of ZM) and contains: Vitamin B6 ... 5 mg Vitamin B12 ... 1.5 mg Folic Acid ... 25 mg (note that the dosages above may not be 100% accurate, but finding proper literature from the manufacturer has been a challenge so far) There are also several similar brand names such as Folbee Plus CZ. These may also contain pantothenic acid, thiamine, riboflavin, and niacin/niacinamide. Can anybody else verify the exact ratio of ingredients?
