My cardiologist has suggested this drug for my persistent a-fib. I am hoping to discuss its effects with someone already on this medication. ## Much depends on the background of your a. fib, but if you do not have any outstanding other cardiac issues (as I do not), you probably do well on this. I have had no major side effects (unlike every other rate/rhythm drug that I took) so far. I have been on it nearly two years. I do think I am a bit more fatigued than ought to be, but much better than with the a.fib. I also notice a little bit trouble staying asleep at times. Unfortunately the drug seems not to be controlling all the aberrant a. fib, because I must occasionally supplement with metoprolol this past year. does tikosyn work for persistant afib ## Tikosyn contains the active ingredient Dofetilide, it is used to maintain sinus rhythm in people prone to atrial fibrillation and flutter. Did your doctor prescribe this? You can learn more about it here:

What atiovbiotics are safe to use with Tikyson? ## Hi Sue, From what I could gather, there are certain macrolide antibiotics and certain quinolone antibiotics that interact with Tikosyn (Dofetilide); however the prescribing label for this medication does not mention which antibiotics fall into these two categories and which one's don't. In this case, if you are looking into using a specific antibiotic, your doctor should know based on your medical records that certain one's may interact with your current medication(s). I would however suggest reminding him/her of this possible interaction just to play it safe when you are being prescribed something. I hope this advice helps!

What's your experience with tikosyn? ## I don't have any personal experience with this medication, but thought it would be helpful to others who are interested in it to post some more details about Tikosyn. Tikosyn (Dofetilide) is used to treat irregular heartbeats. It improves your heart rhythm by relaxing an overactive heart. Having considerable side effects while taking amidarone. Are there other medicine's that can do the same thing, but without possibly all the other side effect's. If you could give me some alternative's I would really appreciate the help. Thank You ## Hi Larry, It is important to know that all prescription drugs pose the risk of side effects. Whether or not you respond favorably to another medication is not something anyone else can determine ahead of time either, unfortunately. A few suggestions I can offer though for other similar drugs with antiarrhythmic properties are: disopyramide dofetilide dronedarone flecainide procainamide propafenone quinidine sotalol Those are just the generic names, but I hope it helps open up your options!
