I have recently started taking Diethylpropion and I am experiencing some dizziness. Has this happened to anyone else and how long does it last? ## In the U.S. it is most commonly known as Amfepramone, it is a stimulant that is most commonly used to aid in weight loss. And yes, dizziness is a very common side effect of it, along with nausea, dry mouth, irritability, and insomnia. Usually, most side effects taper off in severity once your body gets used to a medication, but that can take about 3 to 4 weeks. Are you on any other medications?

I have been taking Diethylpropion for almost 2 months. I have noticed I have lost quite of hair. The medication has been working for me and I have been losing weight but I'm VERY concerned about the hair loss. From the side effects it says you could have hair loss but its rare. I would hate to stop taking it but I can not keep losing more hair. Will this side effect go away with out stopping it? Any answers would be very appreciated! ## Based on my research, I can also confirm that hair loss is listed as a possible side effect of diethylpropion. But from what I understand, these types of side effects generally do not subside until you stop taking what's causing it in the first place. Unfortunately, this would mean stopping the medication. How long does it take to leave the system? 1 x 25mg tablet once a day for one week? ## According to the drug half-life calculator here on MedsChat, Diethylpropion has an estimated half-life of 5 hours. Based on the chart linked below, a 25mg dose would (theoretically) be out of your system within an average of 3-5 days [if not, at the very least present in trace milligrams/micrograms): Diethylpropion HalfLife As disclosed in the half-life calculator, there are many other variables that could affect the accuracy of the charts; but I hope this at least helps provide a ball-park figure.

Does hair loss stop after use of Diethylpropion? ## Hello, Lyn! How are you? In theory, if it was solely caused by the medication, it should reverse upon discontinuation.
