I am scheduled for a surgery next week, a surgery unrelated to my thyroid. I have read somewhere the dosage of desiccated thyroid should be temporarily reduced in times of stress. Can anyone advise me of exactly how this should be done? ## Hi 63roses, With any prescription medication, it is usually advised that one speak with a doctor before making any changes to the dosage. If you aren't able to see your doctor I would just be sure to tell your surgeon (and nurses) that you are taking the desiccated thyroid medication, before your surgery. There is a chance you may need to stop using the medication for a short amount of time. I imagine that your surgeon will be able to give you some instructions if need be. Does anyone else have information to add regarding this topic?

Correct? ## You are correct. Armour actually contains desiccated thyroid gland from pigs. You can learn more Armour details here. Unfortunately, that's one of the hazards from ordering in such a manner, there's really no way of knowing what you may receive. Have you tried contacting the place you ordered from?
