Xanax, (alprazolam) is wildly popular and prescribed often. I voluntarily took myself off 1mg. of Xanax at bedtime as I was already taking benzodiazepines. Hangover and sluggishness the next AM were a problem. Not too terribly habit forming when titratrating down or switching to a alalog like diazepam. Years ago my Dr. dispensed Dalmane 30 Mg.for insomnia. They are definitely euphoric and very habit forming. The next day, I couldn't concentrate for hours. Clonazepam was safer and less hangover was apparent. ## Did you have a question for us or is this just a bunch of your thoughts? ## YES, I HAD A STATEMENT. XANAX IS HIGHLY ADDICTIVE AND VERY POPULAR. ## Yes Xanax is both of those. It also works quite well and is pure poison, go figure? I'm not sure Klonopin is any 'safer...

Desperate times again. What to do? Where to go? This is absurd. Now back where we were 2 years ago, no one else makes it!! Clock is ticking now on my life, as I'm too old to go through the benzo hell of detox. ## Have you spoken to your doctor about what alternative you can take? Flurazepam is a benzodiazepine that carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, and mood changes. Ref: Flurazepam Information Are you on any other medications? ## There are other sleep meds available, I believe Dalmane (brand name of Flurazepam by Roche) was the very first benzo hypnotic (sleeping pill). Is Halcion still available? Then there's Doral (Quazepam) and Pro-Som (Estazolam). They don't make anything good anymore l...

I resumed using sleeping aids three years ago, and the Ambien I am taking does not have the same beneficial effect as it did originally. My sleep problems are affecting the quality of my life and I am wondering if Placidyl would again be an option. ## Your stuck with Ambien, Lunesta, Sonata and the benzodiazepines Halcion, Dalmane, Restoril, etc. Generic benzodiazepines may be BIOEQUIVALENT (passing the FDA's tests) to the brand, but they almost always are not THERAPEUTICALLY equivalent. Sandoz, a old and respected drug company, now makes ONLY generics. Your doc can ensure that you get the Sandoz generic (at least in my state) by writing "Ambien 10mg - Sandoz - tabs #60". Otherwise, most state laws rquire him to dispense the least expensive generic and they may or may not us...
