If there was a fever caused by overheating or blanket, how long will it last? A day? Hour? ## Hello, Christina! How are you? As reported by the NIH, it shouldn't last very long, at all, if it was solely due to the blanket. Basically as soon as the body starts to cool off, the fever should start to lower. If it does not, then it was likely caused by some illness and not the heat of the blanket. Is there anything else I can help with?

I am taking Lisinopril-hydrochlorothiazide 10-12.5. I have been taking it for about 1 yr now. Over the last few month, when I get heated and sweat, I get a severe itching sensation over my entire body. Almost unbearable, but it subsides when I cool down. Could this be a side effect of this medication. ## Yes, there is a possibility that it is from the medication. Medications such as this, which are commonly used to help treat high blood pressure and cardiac conditions, work by having an effect on your circulatory system. Thus, it is very common to see side effect warnings about developing cold extremities, even in normal temperatures and etc. What you may be experiencing could be the opposite effect, when you get warm, more blood is rushing towards the surface of your skin and creating ...

Is storing prescriptions on top of refrigerator a good idea or bad (because of the heat-if any) on top of the refrigerator? ## Bad, hide them. You should never leave your meds out ## Generally no, that is not a good idea due to the fact that heat can be released from your refrigerator due to it's cooling mechanisms, as well as the fact that moisture can also escape, both of which the FDA lists as contributing to the degradation of medications. The best place to store medications is a cool, dark, dry location. Are there any other questions?

Started on Cipro for a week than Dr. switched me to mono/mac 100mg. I have been headachy.. bad and burning up like such hot flashes in the night I took ice bags to hold in my arms to cool me down. I feel twittery and shaky . Dr. office gave me a cortesoid shot thinking it would help my continuing headache (which it did). But the tired weakness along with the terrible heat-burning flashes all night. It is daylight now and I don't feel the consumed heat problem. I am thinking I'd like to stop the mono mac and take my chances. I am 84 years old. I have no discomfort in the bladder area anymore. ## After that post early this AM I a have been resting. Sorta still have burning in my bladder. But being blessed with Arthritis I never know exactly about the pain in my lower back. Mild he...

how long can you store these in your medicine closet before it is not safe to take them? ## Hello, Basil! How are you? If you are asking about a bathroom medicine chest, they should not be stored there, at all. They should be stored somewhere dark, cool and dry, like a kitchen cabinet or other closet that is away from heat, light and moisture. And they should not be kept past the expiration date on the bottle. All tablets eventually degrade and lost effectiveness. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Will prednisone help my sinus post nasel driping down my throat? ## In reading other posts it states it's okay to take medications past their expiration date. That some have a shelf life of over 15 years so why the change of heart to this response? ## Why do you keep saying that t...

I am moving to Florida. I have 50 Suboxone and I would like to save them. How can I keep them fresh and how long will they last until they go bad? ## Hello The Bird, Here are some tips from the medlineplus gov page to keep your pills in the best condition. •Know that heat, air, light, and moisture may damage your medicine. •Store your medicines in a cool, dry place. For example, store it in your dresser drawer or a kitchen cabinet away from the stove, sink, and any hot appliances. You can also store medicine in a storage box, on a shelf, in a closet. •If you are like most people, you probably store your medicine in a bathroom cabinet. But the heat and moisture from your shower, bath, and sink may damage your medicine. Your medicines can become less potent, or they may ...

Expiration date is 11/2013. Is it safe to use? ## Hi Carol! Most medications are safe to use even after the expiration date. Sometimes for years. Some may lose their potency after awhile. ## @Carol, If you've been keeping it under what's considered to be "proper storage conditions" (i.e. - not leaving it under intense heat sources for extended periods of time, and storing it in a cool dark place), studies show that many medications can last for even up to 10 or 15 years beyond the expiration date while maintaining potency. I haven't seen the specific list of medications involved in these particular studies, but given the details above, it sounds like your ibuprofen should still be near it's prime. I hope this helps! ## Hi I would like to know my husband was on pr...

How long does alprazolam stay good beyond the one year mandatory expiration date? ## Hello, Rick! How are you? Unfortunately, I don't have an answer for you, because much of it depends on the storage conditions. Degradation is worsened the more they are exposed to heat, air and moisture. For instance, many people store medications in their bathroom medicine chest, which is the worst place to keep them. Storing them there exposes them to a lot of heat and moisture. The longest life-span is obtained by storing them in a dry, dark, cool location. Generally, if they are past the expiration date, they should be disposed of and replaced. Is there anything else I can help with? Learn more Xanax details here. This medication has the potential to be habit forming and could cause side effects...

I pulled a muscle in my lower back and am in a lot of pain but am unemployed at the moment and can't afford to see a doctor and fill a new prescription. I found an old bottle of Tramadol HCL 50 MG with an expiration date of 3/22/2007. It has been stored in a cool, dark, dry cabinet all of this time. Does Tramadol HCL become unsafe or lose its potency after its expiration date, especially this long after? ## Unsafe: No. Loss of potency: Yes (to a degree)! In the original factory sealed bottles that your pharmacy receives, most medications are touted to only be good for 3 years. Once those are opened and they are placed in a bottle that exposed them to heat and light, they're subject to degrade faster and will lose potency. On the contrary however, something to keep in mind is tha...

I Have Been On Dialysis For A Little Over Two Years No Other Health Problems Than Failed Kidneys The Last 6 Months Unable To Sweat Get Extemely Hot And Feel Like Am Being Stung By Thousands Of Bees Can Only Run Into Extremely Cool Place Relief One Seems Know What Is Causing This Condition Not Even In Sun More Few Seconds Without Painful Itch Attacking Me Hope Someone Has Heard Problem Help ## What medications do you take regularly? Have you ever gotten a severe sunburn or sun poisoning? Many people that have experienced such things can end up with Photodermatitis later in life, antihistamines can sometimes help, but if they can't sweat and their body can't cool itself, they really just have to try to stay out of the sun and heat.

I lived in a cold place since a long time now we have shifted to chennai and here is too hot due to climate change i am suffering from fever, stomach pain, loose motions,vomiting..i have vomited for more than 10 times even if i drink a sip of water it is coming out instantly..please help me what to do?? ## Hi Samy, I'm so sorry to hear about what you're dealing with. My guess is that you may be experiencing heat stroke. I would try applying some peppermint oil to your stomach and chest area (be sure to dilute it by mixing it with a type of oil or unscented lotion, I prefer olive or coconut oil). Also, adding a couple drops of the peppermint to some ice cold water should help to cool your body down. You may continue to vomit, but the oil should still be able to get into your blood ...

I would like to know how long after the experation date, does the amoxicillin remain potent and effective ? And when dose amoxicillin become totally ineffective > ## It's really difficult to get a precise answer on this, because it can really be dependent upon storage conditions. For instance, if they were left in the original factory sealed bottle, they're usually actually good for about 3 years. However, once that bottle is opened, so they are exposed to heat, light and moisture, the degradation starts and how fast they degrade and lose potency depends on how much of the elements they are exposed to. If you keep them in a cool, dry, dark place then they'll last longer than if you keep them in your bathroom medicine chest, which is a warm, damp environment. Learn more A...

I find approximately 20 to 30 minutes after taking Glucophage or Metformin I am extremely hot, as in bad hot flashes. I am wondering if this is happening to anyone else? ## Hmm.. I Feel Fine During My Dosage. Any Other Unusual Side Effects Your Having?? ## My DR increased my dose and I have terrible bouts of nausea. Will this go away and how can I make it stop? ## Rhapsody, I suggest speaking to your doctor about this issue, that way you can rule out any other possible causes and see what you may need to do or what you can safely take with your medications to reduce the nausea. ## Yes, I have had this. I increased from 1 x500mg a day to two. For a while, I was fine, then the heat started in my face and hands. My face felt cool to touch but I felt like I was on fire underneath. I wondere...
