childrens benadryl allergy and sinus

Our Ped told us we could give our 11 month old (22lbs) 1tsp of Childrens Benadryl to help with her runny nose and cough. I grabbed the Allergy and Sinus one not thinking and now I'm wondering if that's still okay to give to her? ## @Rheiannon, According to the manufacturer, Children's Benadryl should not be given to children under 1 year of age for treating allergies. Reason they say this though is because it causes most babies to be too sleepy. Also for a child weighing 20-24 lbs they recommend 3/4 of a tsp. Personally I don't see a quarter of a tsp having THAT much more of an effect overall on the tiredness of the baby. But then again, everyone responds differently to these meds.
