chest congestion

I am 52 yrs old. I feel dry cough and chest congestion. Earlier doctor prescribed me AB Phylline &Deslor tablet. Nt felt a relief by this tablet permanently. I m nt having any tablets now only using avessa inhaler thrice a day. Can u suggest some effective medicines namely syrup or antibiotic tablets for chest congestion, dry cough and wheezing sometimes. ## Hello, Deepa! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. What did the doctor say was causing your problem? Did they do any evaluations to determine the cause? Antibiotics are only effective at treating bacterial infections, so if you're not suffering from one, then taking one would not be appropriate. The FDA lists their typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-all......

Nasal Congestion

difficulty breathing through my nose. No watery eyes, coughing, runny nose or other problems related to allergies. Simply can's get enough air. Problem cause slight dizziness and orientation. Use Saline Nasal spray frequentally, but get only sligh relief. ## Have you consulted a doctor? If you have had problems with allergies in the past, it is possible that your sinus membranes are swollen and may require medical treatment to try and bring them back to normal. That happened to me, when I was younger and my allergies hadn't been diagnosed for many years. Another possibility is nasal polyps, which can block the air flow and would also require medical intervention....

Lingering chest congestion

I had a cold but now I have lingering chest congestion that builds up in lumps in my throat (thick slimy) and gags, choke, and make me feel like its drowning me when I am sleeping - I have to jump up out of bed and cough ad spit it out. This is different from regular cold and congestion which was usually watery. I have 8 Sulfamethoxazole =TMP DS pills and was wondering if it could help loosen the congestion? ## No, that medication is an antibiotic that is used to treat, or prevent bacterial infections. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. It would be best to consult your doctor, so they can provide an appropriate solution. Has this ever happened, before? Are you on any medications?...

Atorvastatin causing congestion and throat swelling

About a month or so after starting 10mg of Atorvastatin I began to feel some congestion on the right side of my throat and the pill was sticking to that side of my throat and felt like it was tarting to dissolve there instead of continuing to move down my throat. I had to start taking applesauce to clear it. I have not had a problem before this and when I take larger gel capsule supplements they go down and do not stick. I am wondering if it is the Atorvastatin that has created this issue for the last 2 1/2 months? I went to see my throat doctor and some swelling was visible....

clogged up ears caused by congestion

I have been experiencing clogged up ears which feels like congestion for over two years now. I have seen three ENT's and have had three hearing tests. My right ear has 95 percent hearing but my left is lower. I finally purchased one hearing aid for my left ear and was told that I didn't need one for the right. However, although the hearing aid does make things louder, I still have the congested feeling in both ears and appears that changes in atmosphere or pressure makes i worse. I have been diagnosed with Eustation Tube Dysfunction but I still don't think that is the problem . I started experiencing the problem two years ago while treating bronchitis. It has never left me. It there a solution to this problem? I know it doesn't have to to with a drug issue but can you he......

Clindamycin and major nasal congestion

My nose continues to stuff up even after taking my prescribed drug, Clindamycin. I am taking three 150 mg doses every 8 hours, with some relief. ## Clindamycin is an antibiotic, as listed by MedlinePlus, it is used to treat bacterial infections, by itself,, it will not help alleviate nasal congestion. It may also cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, diarrhea, non-allergic skin rash, and headache. If your congestion is due to an issue, such as a sinus infection, it will take several days of taking this, in order for you to start seeing some improvement. How long have you been taking it? Are you on any other medications?...

Candesartan headaches; itchy nose; congestion; neck/arm pain

I've been on Candesartan for two weeks, in addition to long standing BP prescriptions for Bendroflumethiazide and Amlodopine. Side effects since starting Candesartan include sore neck on left side, sore arms, headaches, stuffy, itchy, runny nose and tiredness. Does anyone else have these, and if so, did they get better? Thanks in advance! ## Hello, Wursty! How are you doing? Has there been any change? The FDA does list neck pain, arm pain, headache, rhinitis, cold symptoms, and fatigues as being possible side effects of Candesartan. Ref: Candesartan Information Side effects typically begin to taper off, and eventually go away entirely, once your body gets used to the medication, but that might take 5 to 6 weeks. If there is no improvement by then, or if your symptoms worsen/become s......

childrens benadryl allergy and sinus

Our Ped told us we could give our 11 month old (22lbs) 1tsp of Childrens Benadryl to help with her runny nose and cough. I grabbed the Allergy and Sinus one not thinking and now I'm wondering if that's still okay to give to her? ## @Rheiannon, According to the manufacturer, Children's Benadryl should not be given to children under 1 year of age for treating allergies. Reason they say this though is because it causes most babies to be too sleepy. Also for a child weighing 20-24 lbs they recommend 3/4 of a tsp. Personally I don't see a quarter of a tsp having THAT much more of an effect overall on the tiredness of the baby. But then again, everyone responds differently to these meds. However I wouldn't be overly concerned about giving this to your child since yours see......
