childrens benadryl allergy and sinus

Our Ped told us we could give our 11 month old (22lbs) 1tsp of Childrens Benadryl to help with her runny nose and cough. I grabbed the Allergy and Sinus one not thinking and now I'm wondering if that's still okay to give to her? ## @Rheiannon, According to the manufacturer, Children's Benadryl should not be given to children under 1 year of age for treating allergies. Reason they say this though is because it causes most babies to be too sleepy. Also for a child weighing 20-24 lbs they recommend 3/4 of a tsp. Personally I don't see a quarter of a tsp having THAT much more of an effect overall on the tiredness of the baby. But then again, everyone responds differently to these meds. However I wouldn't be overly concerned about giving this to your child since yours see......

Naproxen allergy vs Advil

A few years ago I started to get arthritis pains in my hands late at night, in colder weather/water and after using them a lot. I was told by my grandma I probably have it because it runs in both sides of the family. I took naproxen once and broke out in hives/skin rash on my arms. I no longer take it but I can take Advil with no problems whatsoever. All doctors are very confused by this as they are apart of the same family. I'm confused too. Is there a reason why I can take one but have allergic reactions to the other? ## That is always possible, since no medication is exactly the same as another, when it comes right down to the actual base chemicals. For example, I can take most antibiotics without a problem, but had a bad allergic reaction to Bactrim. It really isn't always t......

Alka-Seltzer Sinus Allergy with Celexa

I have sinus congestion & allergies.. I also take Celexa. Will this combination of meds hurt me? ## Hello, Kathie! How are you? What is the specific name of the Alka-Seltzer that you want to take? There is nothing listed under this. The reason I'm asking is because if it contains Dextromethorphan, then you shouldn't take it with the Celexa, unless your doctor approves. Both Dextromethorphan and Celexa can raise serotonin levels, building up too much can cause serotonin syndrome, which may be fatal. The FDA classifies Celexa as an SSRI antidepressant. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings and weight gain....

amox tr k clv 875 125mg and Advil Cold & Sinus medication together?

I am on my first day of amox tr k clv 875-125 mg for a ten day course to treat a cold. The runny nose and coughing is making it hard to sleep and get the needed rest. Can I take Advil Cold and Sinus medication while taking Amox Tr K CLV 875-125 mg? Thanks. ## Hello, Jay! How are you feeling? Sorry that you're sick. However, this is an antibiotic and will do nothing to treat a cold. Antibiotics are only effective against bacteria and a cold is caused by a virus. And actually, taking it when it is not appropriate and needed could cause you to develop antibiotic resistant bacteria. Did your doctor prescribe it? And no, the antibiotic shouldn't be taken with the Ibuprofen in the Advil Cold & Sinus, because they can both increase the available levels of the other in your body, wh......

Allergy to Testopel

I had 12 pellets inserted. This is the second dose I've had inserted, so this is 4 months after the first pellets. Three days after they were inserted, I noticed that food started tasting off. At first off, then the next day really, really bad. I didn't connect it right away as I'm on a couple other meds for Lupus. Anyways, about a week later I started getting burning in my eyes and itching inside my body. I get a heat flush (same reaction as the iodine you get before a CTscan) at least a couple times a day. I went in for food allergy testing and everything came back clear. Testopel was the only one that had this as a "rare" side effect. The side effect is that food can taste bad and you can have an allergic reaction to the medication. It took over a month to get to ......

Allergy Medicine False Positive On Hair Follicle Test

I failed a seven panel hair follicle test. I have (for years) taken medicines for add (currently amphetamine salts) and I do use seasonal allergy medines/ asthma meds when needed. Could any of these meds have caused my false positive? ## Hi elizabeth, Are you saying that you tested positive for allergy medication after having took amphetamine? I did find out that allergy pills (antihistamines) can sometimes produce a false positive for amphetamine. But I'm not sure if this is what you are referring to, since you did mention that you frequently take amphetamines. Also, hair follicle tests can detected a number of different drugs that you may have had over the past 90 days, that could also attribute to a false-positive. Have you asked about getting re-tested? ## Yes, there are some me......

Allergy asthma

I am looking to purchase Paspat injection in ampules, I cant get it in Australia, but can get it if overseas and pick it up at customs with a Doctors prescription please help ## There are a few legitimate online pharmacies that can fill your prescription. Search around google for one's that require a doctor to review your prescription at the time of checkout and you should have the order validated within a short matter of time. I personally haven't used this method for getting a prescription, but I know there are a handful of sites out there that are safe and legal to order from amongst the swarm of bad ones. To find out if an online pharmacy is licensed, is in good standing, and is located in the United States, contact NABP at: www.nabp.net. Legitimate pharmacies that carry the......
