I love the physician I am seeing, but he has move his office a now I drive about an hour and a half to see him. my regular pharmacy which is right across the street from where I live is now refusing to fill my prescriptions. Some people drive hours to see reputable specialist, which these days are not easy to find these days, can someone explain to me what the problem is please and thank you? ## Hello, Dianne! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. There is a limit on how much of any controlled substance a pharmacy can order in and stock each month, it's based on the size of the pharmacy and their customer base. It used to be that this limit was rarely enforced, so when they ran out of any certain medication, they could just order more in…however,...

Hi. After carefully going through websites i found a very interesting story about Drixoral. It states a batch of drixoral was recalled. Can some comment on it and if yes it was recalled, is drixoral still good to consume from Canada as stated by sites in Canada? A reply will be greatly appreciated. ## From what I've heard and read on various sites, it was not recalled, but the company stopped making it. Because of the recent FDA crackdown on medications with certain ingredients, such as Peudoephedrine being sold on the regular store shelves, it had to be placed behind the pharmacy counter in the U.S. It did not require a prescription, however, with so many products available on the public shelves, most people just purchased something else. So, the manufacturer stopped making it due ...

In reading messages from other people, some have been able to obtain Disophrol from the UK. How do you go about ordering it? Is there a website? ZS ## It is also still available in Canada and there have been posts from people that have ordered it from there, as well. The best suggestion I can make is to do some searching and see what websites have it in stock and if they ship to the U.S. The shipping fees could make it quite expensive, but if it's the only medication that worked for you, then it's most likely worth it. I believe it would be legal to order and import it, in specific quantities, but I am not certain since that's not my area of expertise, most sites that offer it for sale will provide those details, so make sure to check. Are there any other questions or commen...

I have a chronic back pain, and have many Rx from 2005. Could I still use them? How old is too old? ## As with anything, whether it be drugs, food or drink, you should not take them if they are out of date. The date is on the packet for your safety, and you could experience more adverse effects from taking out of date medication. Also most medications can begin to loose their effectiveness at any time passed the expiration date (it would be difficult to pinpoint exactly when it starts degrading), so it would be best in your case to just request a new prescription given the length of time it has been out of date. However, if you'd really like to be certain about the pills degradation, you would have to take them to a lab and have them analyzed for quality. I don't know how to go ...

Can I drink beer (malt liquor) while taking lotrel 10-40? If so, how many ounces? ## Hello, Terry! How are you? How has your blood pressure been? Alcohol can intensify the side effects of medications, so you may get more drowsy, dizzy and nauseous than usual. Additionally, certain amounts of it can lower your blood pressure, while too much can be cardio toxic. Have you discussed it with your doctor?

If taking coamox after how many hours can I drink alcohol?? ## Although alcohol can interact with certain medicines, in the case of Amoxicillin trihydrate, there are no known interactions between the two. Referenced from: nhs.uk/medicine-guides/pages/MedicineOverview.aspx?condition=Bacterial%20infections&medicine=Amoxicillin%20trihydrate&preparationAmoxicillin%20250mg%20capsules That said, I think you may have to be you're own best judge as to when and how often you decide to drink while you're taking this medication (basing it off of how you feel). Personally, if I were to drink, I would wait till after I feel the effects of the medication kick in, so I know that it's already working. I hope this info helps!

i have been prescrbed calvepen for tonsilitus can i drink alcohol whilst taking them? ## Calvepen contains the active ingredient Penicillin; which does have an interaction with food/drink, but not anything specifically related to alcohol consumption. Information I've gathered states the following: "Adjust dosing interval: Certain penicillins may exhibit reduced gastrointestinal absorption in the presence of food. The therapeutic effect of the antimicrobial may be reduced. The interacting penicillin should be administered one hour before or two hours after meals. Penicillin V and amoxicillin are not affected by food and may be given without regard to meals." Regarding the above statement, I would suggest drinking one hour before or waiting two hours after taking Calvepen to i...

Almost everybody here talks about drinking much. My question is if I take a simple cup of red wine after my dinner at 8 and then take my sulfa at 12. I really do not think that a cup of good red table wine would be so disastrous as some readers have commented. Thank you. ## I think your intuition is correct - moderation is the key. One cup of red wine should not result in a bad reaction, although it may increase certain effects such as drowsiness, dizziness, or upset stomach. Be sure to learn about the possible side effects from the drug itself so that you can monitor how you feel and report any adverse effects to your doctor if need be. You can see a more comprehensive list on the page for Sulfamethoxazole Details. Hope this helps! ## Thank you very much! ## If I skip my medicine for o...

Hi: I've been prescribed Adderall 20mg IR (generic amphetamine salts, 2x daily) and I found I was just dripping sweat in any type of heat or even at 40 deg after some exertion. My doctor switched me to dextroamphetamine (again, generic, 10 mg, 2x daily), and there is no improvement. The new drug is not as effective as the Adderall. My doctor is not that familiar with this class of drugs, but my pharmacist specialized in mental health drugs and suggested that an ER or XR version might work better. I've also read that some people do better on certain types of generics or the name brands. Has anyone found that: 1) an extended release version has physical side effects (i.e., sweating)? 2) a name brand, rather than generic, has been more effective at preventing side effects? 3) a dif...

Sorry about your husband's headaches. Learn more Isosorbide details here. This medication can cause them as a side effect. Has he consulted his doctor? When being treated for any cardiac condition, it is very important that he does so, before taking anything. Depending on his condition and the severity, he may not be able to take certain ones. Can you drink alcohol when taking steroids ## Alcohol on its own will certainly be putting stress on your liver and so are the oral steriods so using both will consequently have a lot more of a negative effect over a shorter period of time. I obviously don't agree with either options, but I suggest choosing one over the other if you felt the need to. Have you done your research on the long term side effects of either option? The severity and number of symptoms are pretty staggering. I hope you are willing to seek help or more advice from others if these are "your" intentions.

I just saw on t.v. that certain medications shouldn't be taken with acidic drinks. Is metoprolol Tarta 50mg one of these drugs? I am a 2-cups-a-morning coffee drinker. ## Hello, Gary! How are you? I'm not sure what you saw on TV, but I have never heard anything like that. If a medication shouldn't be taken with something due to possible interactions, such as those that may occur with grapefruit juice, there will be a warning on your prescription bottle. Do you have any other details on what you saw? Were they talking about some specific issue? ## Grapefruit juice, also wine with cheese with some medicines. You're right, I suppose I shouldn't worry if a medicine doesn't have a specific warning noted. Thanks for your response!

What can one eat or drink with food so that any fat in the food does not get digested? ## I'm not certain where you are located, so I'm not sure what is available to you. In the U.S. there is a product available called Alli, which contains the active ingredient Orlistat, which can help block the absorption of fats, though it does not block all, because your body does need some to stay healthy and function properly. It also can't be used if you are always taking it a very high fat diet, because this can cause severe problems in controlling your bowels. Learn more: Are there any other questions?

How much water do you drink when taking the medicine ## Hello, Usually one 8oz glass of water is enough but I can't find any pertinent information stating that you must take Cefuroxime Axetil with a certain amount of water. I have only found information stating that it should be taken with food to help the absorption and reduce stomach upset. Ceftin is one of the brand names of Cefuroxime- You can learn more about this drug on the page for Ceftin Details I hope this helps!

Is it possible to accidentally overdose on but/apap/cf50-325-40 tab? ## Certainly; too much of anything can be harmful. You can even die from drinking too much water. APAP (Acetaminophen) can cause severe liver damage if taken in large quantities over a given period of time. And this isn't even considered overdosing. It's a shame that they are "just now" informing patients to lower their dose of APAP after all these years, due to people having liver problems and other health issues from this drug. I hope that helps shed some light on how dangerous these drugs can be, before you even begin to overdose. In my opinion, 325mg is definitely a "safer" dose than what is considered to be harmful to your body, so as long as you follow the dosing schedule and administratio...

Is it ok to drink wine while taking this medication? ## No. Alcohol will only add to the rapid heart beat associated with this drug, and shortness of breath and general feelings of discomfort will follow. As to the problems with alcohol, it's really that it can cause an aggravation of all of the side effects, so you may feel more nausea, dizziness, drowsiness and etc. than you would otherwise.
