Casodex Bicalutamide

Bicalutamide, sold under the brand name Casodex among others, is an antiandrogen medication that is primarily used to treat prostate cancer.[10] It is typically used together with a gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) analogue or surgical removal of the testicles to treat advanced prostate cancer.[11][10][12] To a lesser extent, it is used for early prostate cancer at a higher dosage as a monotherapy (that is, in gonadally inta...

I have Fibromyalgia and my medicaid won't cover the Savella medicine I need. How do I get help in getting the madicine through the company who makes it?I am on limited income. ## I am very sorry about the problem you're having, however, the savings program for Savella is not available to those on government forms of insurance, only privately insured individuals. Have you consulted your doctor for assistance? They may have samples, or they might be able to suggest an alternative medication. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Savella as possibly including nausea, dizziness, anxiety, seizures and ear ringing.

I was diagnosed with Prostate cancer in 2001. I had radiation treatment 4 years later. Last summer my psa begin to rise rapidly. I was put on casodex & then 3 weeks later I had a lupron shot. I have not had a shot since & I continue to take 50 mg of casodex daily. My psa has stayed down for 4 months. My next blood test is April 7. Is it a bad idea to just stay on Casodex? I had hot flashes when I had the Lupron shot. I am not having hot flashes when only on Casodex. If my psa does not go up, I would like to just stay on Casodex. If my psa begins to rise I believe my Doctor plans to give me another Lupron shot. Does this seem like a good possible approach to my situation?

I have been taking Casodex for a number of months. I have experienced many of the side effects indicated including tenderness in my neck and aches in my shoulders I have recently been diagnosed with acid reflux and a small duedinal ulcer through an endoscopy procedure. I have been prescribed Omeprazole 20mg by Sandoz which I have taken for two weeks. Since taking these tablets in conjunction with Casodex I now get a dry acid throat with which I have a cough. Is this normal and is there any way to alleviate this very uncomfortable feeling? ## Hello, Jeff! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problems you've been experiencing. Those actually sound like symptoms from the acid reflux and they should improve, as your condition improves. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Omep...

Do you currently have health insurance coverage? If so, do they supplement the costs of Casodex? If not, are you able to qualify for Medical / Medicaid where you are? Just trying to throw some ideas out there with regards to what public assistance programs might be available to you. Also, you might try contacting the manufacturer AstraZeneca, because sometimes the pharmaceutical companies are able to offer their own assistance plans. You should not have to suffe...

My brother was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer and later had prostatectomy followed by rounds of chemotherapy. He was later prescribed abiraterone which he has been taking for 5 months up until August. His PSA doesn't seem to be going down since 5 months he's been on it. The PSA was checked on Wednesday September 29th and the result is at 38. Do you think Casodex alone or with Lupron will work better than Abiraterone at getting his PSA down? Thanks ## It’s my understanding that Casodex and lupron should be taken together to get the best results. You can access many instructive and very optimistic videos from the Prostate Cancer Research Institute on YouTube regarding treatment options for stage 4 prostate cancer. Good luck! ## Thanks for your input. ## I was told by...

just started zytiga, along with prednisone, 50 mg of casodex, lupron shot within 10 days.. and hitrofurantoin monohydrat 100 mg.. and have a white substance.. "OCCURING" frequently. on the inside of mouth. also on Fentnyl 50 mcg, and 600 mcg Fentnyl ( actiq).. ## Have you spoken to your doctor about it? There is a reasonably good chance that the white substance in your mouth is due to a yeast infection from the antibiotic, Nitrofurantoin that you are taking. They are well known to cause them as side effects. If that is what is causing the problem, then your doctor can prescribe an antifungal oral medication to help clear it up.

My husband first took 45 mg Lupron injection and decided not take but three bacalutamide pills to ease hot flashes because didn't like contraindications. His energy levels are low. Is that possibly from the lupron? Are the bicalutamide pills going to give more energy? Should he be taking them for for better antiandrogen results? ## It is a very important medication in the treatment of his cancer, since it is an antiandrogen. His results really aren't going to improve, without it. Has he spoken to his doctor about it? What contraindications did he find so concerning? When battling cancer, it is normal for his energy levels to be low, so that may not change for awhile, even with the treatments.

This Is A Gerneric For Casodex 50mg I Use For Prostrat Cancer Is It The Same ## Hello, Did you mean to say Bicalutamide, the active ingredient in Casodex? If so, then the generic you have is the same except for the fact that it might not be as strong as the brand name variety. The reason being, if a medication is in generic form, it is permitted by the FDA to be allowed to contain as much as 20% more or less of the actual active ingredient. Also, depending on the manufacturer- the binders and fillers (inactive ingredients) used could be different. You can learn more about this drug on the page for Casodex Details I hope I have helped to answer your question!

What Is The Side Effects Of This Medication & Can I Take In Place Of Casodex ## Hello Dave Hughes, Some side effects of Casodex may include but are not limited to the following: reproductive system and breast disorders, breast tenderness, gynaecomastia, hot flushes, gastrointestinal disorders, diarrhoea, nausea, hepatic changes (elevated levels of transaminases, jaundice), asthenia and pruritus. To answer your next question; if you're talking about Bicalutamide, the active ingredient in Casodex, then yes you could take it instead if you want. However, it would most likely be the generic version. I can't remember if I told you this in my last reply, but the FDA permits generic formulas to contain up to 20% more or less of the actual active ingredients. This factor, along with...
