I've have been prescribed Cardizem CD 240 mg once a day for BP - the generic name is (Diltiazem CD). I was taking metroprolol 50 mg twice a day for about 18 months and was experiencing hair loss so the doctor moved me to Cardizem CD. Has anyone experienced hair loss while taking Cadizem CD? ## I haven't taken the medication, so I have no personal experience with it, but hair loss can still be a side effect of the Diltiazem, though it is not known to be a very common one. How severe was the hair loss?

I have been on a beta blocker for several years and started having side effects. Dr. Switched me to Cardizem CD 180 about 8 years ago and now I'm having adema build up in one foot. Heard this could be a side effect. No other issues or ailments. BP good. Circulation good. My patient is on Cardizem CD 240mg daily and metoprolol 25mg PO BID but can not swallow cardizem and pill shouldn't be crushed i imagine. what can i order instead. BP runs 160/ 90. My prior prescription said I could take without regard to food. The new one said take on an empty stomach. Both are 180 mg. ## Based on information I've gathered, Cardizem CD is just another brand name of Diltiazem XT (as they both contain the same active ingredient). Diltiazem is said to be the generic version, however both medications are reported to come in a 24-hour sustained-release capsule. Other than that, the only other differences may be that they are manufactured by separate companies, and possibly contain a different set of inactive ingredients, otherwise known as fillers. Hello. Please help. I am responsible for my father's medication and I recently switched from community pharmacy to mail order. For years he has been taking Dilt-CD 240mg Capsule made by Apotex. The shipment just arrived and I received Diltiazem ER (CD) 240mg CAP (24hr) made by Actavis. Please can someone tell me if these are in fact the same thing only made by two different companies? I was using Cardizem CD 180MG caps but the VA changed me to DILTIAZEM (INWOOD) 180 MG SA CAP. Is your 180MG SA also a 24 hr. time release cap like the Cardizem? I use to take Cardizem cd 180mg. I have lots of trouble with generics. I was switched to Diltiazem hcl sa caps some time ago (mfg TEVA) and have been doing fine.
