The most prominent is that it reversibly blocks the action of adenosine on its receptors and consequently prevents the onset of drowsiness induced by adenosine. Caffeine also stimulates certain portions of the autonomic nervous system. It is also used as a cognitive enhancer which increases alertness and attenti...

just took Bonine for the first time and i feel nautious. wondering if it is an initial effect of Bonine, or maybe because i drank some coffee not too long ago. plus i am getting on a plane and might be a bit nervous. can anybody else share their experiences with Bonine or Dramamine? ## Bonine contains the active ingredient Meclizine, and Dramamine contains the active ingredient Dimenhydrinate, both are used to help treat, or prevent nausea, vomiting, and vertigo. Ref: Bonine Information Ref: Dramamine Information The FDA lists their typical side effects as possibly including dry mouth, dizziness, drowsiness, and sedation. My best guess is that nausea is due to the coffee, and nerves, rather than the Bonine. Additionally, if you just took it, you wouldn't be feeling the side effects ...

Does anybody know whether it is advisable or not to drink a caffeinated beverage after taking an Advil? I know that some other drugs such as Excedrin Migraine already contain caffeine in order to supplement the Acetaminophen and treat the headache more effectively. Does the same concept apply to Ibuprofen? ## I don't think that it will harm you if you drink caffeine after taking Advil, but I can't say whether or not it will have synergistic effects with the Ibuprofen the way that it could with Aspirin on Acetaminophen for instance.

I have found that I am more tired than usual and can/need sleep for extended periods since I have started Xarelto. I attempted to take caffeine pills in the morning to help me wake up only to notice after taking the caffeine pills I begun to have bleeding during bowel movements. When I stop taking the caffeine pills the bleeding really subsides to nearly non-existent. ## Hi Eric, Sorry to hear about your recent experience with bleeding during bowel movements. From what I could gather, there don't appear to be any interactions listed between caffeine and Xarelto (rivaroxaban). However, you might be surprised to know that Xarelto does actually list "bloody stools" as one of its more common side effects at: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0045374/#DDIC603481.side_effects_secti...

My name is Jim.. I am a lifetime caffeine addict.. In order to have a good understanding of my problem, I need to give a bit of background to my situation.. I have very few memories from my childhood regarding water, except a few arguments I had with my parents who wanted me to drink more water.. and as a stubborn kid, refused.. I just couldn't stand the taste (or lack of it) in my younger years. It all started when I was in my late teens.. when my Dr Pepper addiction really began.. It all started out as an innocent few a week.. then a few a day.. and went only up from there with little to no self control. I was a wiry skinny kid.. with the metabolism of a hummingbird, so weight gain was never a factor, at least not during that phase of my life. I never liked the taste of coffee (ev...

I suffer from Hypnic headaches and the only thing that keeps my from waking up with a headache every morning is to take an Extra Strength Excedrin which has caffeine, acetaminophen and aspirin. The aspirin bothers my stomach and I am looking for something that has the caffeine (which I was told by the neurologiswas the treatment for these headaches) but caffeine by itself would only keep me awake at night. Any suggestions. ## Hello, Bell! How are you doing? Have you tried taking something to protect your stomach from the Aspirin? A simple antacid may work, unless your doctor has given you some reason you can't take one and something such as Pepcid or Zantac shouldn't interfere with the absorption and efficacy of the medication. ## Synalgos DC, It has aspirin ,caffeine,dihydracod...
