moxifloxacin HCI ## i have an arrytmia should i take avelox ## Hi Maria, Avelox is a drug that can lead to many problems, including arrhythmia. Many heart arrhythmias are due to a decrease of magnesium in the body (even if your magnesium level tested by your doctor is normal). Unfortunately, the mechanism of action of many of the Avelox Side Effects is through a reduction in magnesium in the body. This could potentially lead to worsening of symptoms. You should carefully read about the side effects of these drugs and decide if the risk is worth treating the infection, or if it might be better to call your doctor, tell him about your concerns, and ask for an alternative to Levaquin to treat your infection.

Has anyone ever experienced a problem mixing avelox and champex together ## Hi Paul, There is no known interactions between these drugs, but that does not mean that there are not any, only that it may just never have been tested, or that there are not enough studies to determine whether or not there is an interaction. However, just taking Avelox with or without any other drugs can lead to a whole host of problems that you can learn about by going to the Avelox Side Effects page. The multitude of reports of severe and even disabling side effects may encourage you to ask your doctor if there are any alternate drugs that you can substitute for the Avelox. These drugs are dangerous drugs that should only be reserved for life threatening infections.

I am taking Avelox for broncitis. I am scheduled to go away on vacation 4 days after finishing my treatment, am I able to suntan? ## You can, although suntanning is never really safe, due to the risk of skin cancer, but you should be aware that you may still be more sensitive to the sun and heat, so you could burn sooner than usual, and you could experience heat stroke much faster than normal, according to the U.S. FDA. Thus, you should be careful about how long you spent in the sun/heat, and lessen your duration of exposure, accordingly, or use sun block. Is there anything else I can help with?

i want to know what this drug is and what is for ## Avelox is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic for treating bacterial infections. It is most commonly administered in a tablet form. ## This drug is an antibiotic. It SHOULD be prescribed ONLY for life threatening infections, but is often prescribed inappropriately for non life threatening infections such as bladder infections and sinus infections. The Avelox Side Effects can be permanently disabling and extremely damaging. Please understand the possibility of these side effects before you take this drug for a non life threatening infection. While these side effects ARE extremely rare, they DO happen and once they do, you can't take them back. They can be permanent. Please know your risk. ## After a couple days of using Avelox, I suddenly ...

is avelox 400mg and acid reducer safe to take together ## Both Avelox and Acid Reducers can reduce magnesium levels in the body. used for infection of ear and sinusis ## If you are taking Avelox, be sure that you thoroughly understand the Avelox Side Effects. While it's rare, Avelox can lead to severe disability that may be permanent. In any case, sinus infections are very often not even caused by bacteria- and bacterial infections are the only reason that you should ever take antibiotics. And ear infections are often 'self limiting', meaning that they go away on their own without treatment anyway. In cases where they don't, there are other antibiotics that can be used instead of avelox which can lead to such severe disability. You may want to speak to your doctor about an alternative to Avelox.

i want to know about moxifloxacin and its side effects during pregnancy ## Moxifloxacin, also called Avelox, is in a class of drugs known as the Quinolone antibiotics. Avelox Side Effects include such serious problems as damage to tendons, joints and muscles. These side effects can be so serious that they do not allow the use of them for children that are not fully grown yet due to the possibility of damage to the unformed bone and cartilage in children. These antibiotics also leach magnesium from the body, a serious problem for pregnant women that can lead to a condition known as toxemia of pregnancy that is quite dangerous. Because of these problems and the fact that there are less dangerous antibiotics for most infections, I would refrain from using Moxifloxacin in pregnancy and ask ...

my wife's doctor prescribed avalox for a kidney infection, pending results of urine c&s ... any rationale to support that choice? ## nothing ## Yes, there is plenty of evidence to support using Avelox for a UTI, however there are a LOT safer choices for a UTI than Avelox. Avelox Side Effects, while rare, can be absolutely devastating and can cause lifelong disabilities. Personally, with what I know about Quinolone Antibiotics, the class of drugs that Avelox is in, I would never use them for anything but a life threatening infection where there was no other alternative. The side effects are too disastrous to use these drugs for a common infection with so many alternative drugs.
