Rosiglitazone (trade name Avandia) is an antidiabetic drug in the thiazolidinedione class. It works as an insulin sensitizer, by binding to the PPAR in fat cells and making the cells more responsive to insulin. It is marketed by the pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) as a stand-alone drug or for use in combination with metformin or with glimepiride. I have just started this along with my usual rx for metformin 500 and the Dr. also started me on Byetta 10, I am having severe bloating and gas and it all smells like chemicals . can anyone tell me if this is normal? I have been nauseated also. Today is my 4th day of these new rx's. ## It is hard to say for sure, drugs will act differently for different people, most side effects though, do wear off after a few weeks of use, after your body adjusts to the new medication. You just started a few days ago, so you sould probably give it more time and see if it starts to taper off. If they get worse, or are particularly bothersome, then please speak to your doctor.

Just to reply to comment about all pills marked with a 44 are over the counter...not necessarily true. Avandaryl (Rosiglitazone and Glimepiride) is marked with GSK 44 ## Pills marked with a 44, followed by additional numbers are over the counter products. For instance, the one mentioned in the subject line, with a 44 235 on it contains 500mgs of Acetaminiphen and 25mgs of Diphenhydramine, this is a generic or store brand of Tylenol PM. Is there anything else I can help you with? ## Why oh why didnt I take the BLUE pill? (The Matrix)
