Aubagio Teriflunomide

Teriflunomide, sold under the brand name Aubagio, is the active metabolite of leflunomide.[2] Teriflunomide was investigated in the Phase III clinical trial TEMSO as a medication for multiple sclerosis (MS). The study was completed in July 2010.[3] 2-year results were positive.[4] However, the subsequent TENERE head-to-head comparison trial reported that "although permanent discontinuations [of therapy] were substantially less common among M...

has anyone drank alcohol while taking aubagiohas? ## Hello, Peg! How are you? Generally, it is best to stay away from alcohol, when you are taking any prescription medication, due to the fact that it can greatly increase the side effects as listed by the FDA, so you may experience much more nausea, dizziness and drowsiness than usual. Thus, one drink may affect you the same as having had 2 and so on. If your doctor does approve of your having a couple drinks, please make sure that you will not be driving, or operating and potentially dangerous machinery. Is there anything else I can help with?

Any feedback on risks of taking Aubagio if you have Multiple Hepatic or liver Hemangioma's? Is it liver "enzymes" that should be tested before going on Aubagio? Any other tests pre-Aubagio? How long has it been available? Are there any clinical studies post FDA approval? Does anyone have substantial improvement or problems since taking Aubagio? Please share. I've got enough illnesses/syptoms don't want to add to them... Thanks ## Aubagio is generally not recommended in someone with severe liver impairment, of any type, due to the fact that it has been known to have a detrimental effect on the liver. How is your liver function? Your blood pressure should also be checked, before you start it. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, fever, c...

since taking aubagio my big toe tips are red swollen and painful. Very painful. Could this be from the acid Aubagio creates; should I be concerned about gout? I already have elevated liver levels (after 38 days) of taking aubagio. Taking 2 more weeks and checking liver levels again. ## Hi, Candy! Actually, Aubagio can cause peripheral neuropathy, which could explain what you're experiencing. However, you need to consult your doctor to get an actual diagnosis and see if it is from the medication. Learn more Aubagio details here. I see the 2 weeks has passed since you posted this, how was the second check on your liver levels? ## my levels peaked at 135 and 142 during month 1 & 2 of taking Aubagio. Remained on Aubagio and the levels over the past few weeks have slowly gone down. N...

I have had a nasty cold since starting Aubagio 4 weeks ago. Is this a side effect? I am 36 and was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2004. I really have no support with my disease. ## Hi there Angela. I was started on Aubagio a week ago now and I also have had a continuous blocked nose as well as all over flu-like symptoms. My normal aches and pains have doubled in intensity as well, and don't even get me started on the energy and mood dip. ?? MS nurse had warned me of the side effects...but I didn't think I'd get them all at the same time. I have to really fight to keep motivated and I just hope to god that my body gets used to the tablets as quickly as possible, as I really couldn't take 6 months of this. ?? I'm sick and tired of feeling sick and tired. I'm ...

After 10 plus years on 4 to 5mg prednisone my Dr. wants to taper me off. I heard that you will no longer produce it naturally in the body after that many years, is that true? With two Auto Immune Diseases I really don't want to remove this medication. His alternative is to go on a relatively new immuno suppressive Medication called Aubagio, anyone taking this/feedback? ## Tapering you off of it is to prevent the issues that would occur with sudden withdrawal, such as your natural steroid hormones being screwed up and not produced by your body, anymore. Aubagio is classified by the FDA as an immunomodulatory drug, so it works differently than the steroids and there is less risk of someone developing a severe infection, while on it. Its typical side effects may possibly include body a...
