I am a senior and have cut my prescription expense and Asacol was one I had discontinued due to the cost. Now I am suffering the consequences of this action. I am hoping for alternative steps to remedy this problem. ## what is asacol used for ## asacol is usually used for ulcerative colitis ## I cannot find any Asacol suppositories in South Africa. Firstly why was it discontinued? And secondly, what can I do now? Please help as I'm not getting answers anywhere. ## This medication is listed as being a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory. Those Asacol Hd Causes Horseness. could it be that with time it could effect my vocal chords? ## Asacol contains the active ingredient Mesalazine and from what I'm finding, that's not listed as normal side effect. Have you consulted your doctor to be certain it's being caused by the medication?

Delzicol replaced Asacol as a treatment for llceratilve colitis last month. The change meant my co-pay for a month's prescription rose from $33 to $93. No one has been able to explain to me why my costs tripled for a medication that is essentially the same. Do others face ths problem? Is this a substitute for the expensive ASACOL? ## Yes, Pentasa contains the same active ingredient, Mesalamine. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, stomach pain, blurred vision, dizziness, anxiety, and back pain. Is there anything else I can help with?

I never had any issues with Asacol but ever since Asacol was put into a capsule, first the purple capsule and now the smaller pills in a clear capsule, which is now called Delzicol, I get severe indigestion, gas, have trouble sleeping, and generally don't feel well. Can this be due to the capsule? Before they changed to the 4 smaller pills in the capsule I had started removing the larger pill from the purple capsule and Immediately started feeling better. I recently started with the newer version of 4 smaller pills in a capsul and the symptoms have returned. Do others have issues with the capsule? I am taking 30mg of Prozac once daily, 0.5 Klonopin, Asacoland100mg twice a day ofNitrofurant Monohy would 1 to 2 glasses of wine harm me. We are having a Holliday party. ## It is not generally a good idea to mix any prescription drugs with alcohol. The main reason being that it can enhance already undesirable side effects such as nausea, drowsiness, headache and etc.

My Medicare insurance, AVMED, pays for the majority of my ASACOL prescription for the first 7 or 8 months of the year and then the "donut hole" cost is prohibitive for my income. ## Hello, Sunny! This is active ingredient in Asacol. False positive have been observed in laboratory testing. Now I just have get letter from doctor. Drug/Laboratory Test Interactions Several reports of possible interference with measurements, by liquid chromatography, of urinary normetanephrine causing a false-positive test result have been observed in patients exposed to sulfasalazine or its metabolite, mesalamine/mesalazine. ## I have recently failed a drug test at work. Getting info on some of my Rxs, a few sites popped up that say they can sell the meds over the net and mail them. They have US addresses and phone numbers. Many of them price the meds by the pill, patch, or whatever a single unit would be. I didn't click on them because I was afraid of viruses and ID theft, and also that it might be illegal. my medications are 800mg asacol 3x day,10mg prednisone,50 mg metoprolol,40 mg pantoprazole,25mg topiramate,talwin nx as needed,500mg ciprofloxacin hcl 2x day,10mg potassium,325mg ferrus sulfate,mucinex dm er 600-30mg 2x day ## i am allergic to pcn , cod , and sulfa ......am i able to take Ciprofloxacin hydrochloride 500 mg ? without causing an allergic reaction ## You can not be sure that you will NOT have an allergic reaction to any Antibiotic. However the one you are asking about is not in the Penicillin, Sulfa, or other family. ## Can Trazodone cause a false positive for Methamphetamine on a drug screen?
